This is a show about a ballerina piggyback riding on a Transformer... and it's too silly for words.

I find it to be a nice show and maybe you were expecting too much from it.
I question what you expect from shows that you feel that are bad when most of us really like them Tom. And I don't want to get angry at you for pushing some shows away but I just feel you expect too much or expect too little. Just be glad you aren't watching the really bad animes that we have seen.
LOL, you make this show sound horrible. It was never on my radar and now it's on my "avoid" radar. As you were describing it though, is it really more ridiculous than people on Segway Scooters? I've seen mall patrol people zooming through the mall on them at what seems like a high speed. Is this anime really that much of a stretch from that?
But it looks so pretty! Ah well, I still want to watch it.
"It just doesn't really seem aware of how stupid it looks." Ha! Thanks for the warning, Tom, you need say no more.
I just started the show on netflix and I gotta say, it's alot better then I was expecting. While some of the stuff is goofy at times and the constant blush on everyone's face is annoying (I don't get why ALL the females seem to be blushing 24/7 even during normal talking scenes) but some of the races are cool and the fast pacing of once it gets rolling is pretty cool.
This review does not deter me from checking this out at some point. It's in my Netflix Queue so I will one day get to it and provide my own thoughts in a Dunce Cap episode.
Since I have not watched any of this show yet I cannot agree/disagree you (Tom) until a later date. However, at the rate you've been reviewing series and disliking ones I love, I may very well like it.
@sotyfan16: well your column is kind of the exact oppisote of his....kind of the anti intellectual column...so yes I expect you would like this. I will be staying away. I do expect more than silly fun from something I am going to put as much time into as an anime series. And certainly I expect more than that from a column entitled watch and learn.
Seriously if you continue to hate the things he likes....why stay?
Show is allright, but pretty forgettable in the long run.
@zaldar:
Anti-intellectual? Really? I offer an every-man's insight on a variety of anime and manga. I am an enthusiast so therefore I enjoy a bit of everything anime and manga has to offer. I understand the point of Tom's column and enjoy a lot of what he does. Besides, he is a published author who writes for Whiskey Media so of course he wants to find the cream of the crop.
You prefer to do the same and that it fine but there are a lot of fans of the more relaxed series and as one I feel like I enjoy more because of it. And you really felt the need to ask why I stay on the site? I'm here to provide more content for users to enjoy and have hearty conversations.
I would call most every-man anti intellectual. I am not a man of every man...yes I am an elitist. I didn't mean the site overall there are certainly a large number of people here that fall into your category. I meant Tom's column specifically. Sorry for not making that clear. But I mean you do call your column the dunce cap for a reason so...
@zaldar:
I was thinking you were. You might as well just stick to commenting on what you like then.
I don't call my segment 'Dunce Cap' and take on the definition of the thing itself. I decided on calling it that because it was the first thing that came to my head. It's simple and stands out. Also, all the hosts I've had (and myself) are not all-knowing so DC works as something any fan can enjoy.
tom -- you are fantastic. keep up the good work :)
Good to know, so I avoid it. I don't like to goofy SF.
