Kazekage Rescue Arc

Return of the Kazekage - 風影の帰還 (Kazekage no Kikan)

Gaara and his rescuers make a triumphant return to the Hidden Sand Village. After paying their respects at Granny Chiyo's grave, Naruto and the Leaf ninja reluctantly take their leave.

Points of Interest

  • Deidara is revealed to of survived the explosion this episode. Once the coast is clear, he goes in search of his Akatsuki ring. It's unknown the importance of the rings.
  • Tobi who is introduced in this episode is actually Madara Uchiha, one of the original founders of the Hidden Leaf Village and the true leader of the Akatsuki. Tobi is just a cover persona as a new member to the Akatsuki. A different voice actor is cast for the different sides of the personality he shows.
  • At one moment, Sakura and Ebizo are to the right of Gaara, Naruto, and Kankuro. A few seconds later, They are beside the body of Chiyo.
  • Only Chiyo's given name is marked on her grave. No family name is shown.
  • Sai is introduced this episode, but "Sai" does not appear to be his true name.

Thank You Party Omake:

  • In the omake after the credits, a party is held for completing the first story arc of the new series. Sakura interviews Temari and Kankuro. Naruto talks with Gaara.
  • Sari from the Sand Village makes her only appearance this episode in the background of the omake.
