I’ve been taking such pleasure in trouncing Dante and Trish, again and again, with my all-star team of Akuma, Super-Skrull and Zero in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3. Juggling them like helpless ragdolls in a nasty air combo gives me no end of enjoyment. Truth be told, my gleeful antagonism probably stems from me never really playing any of the DEVIL MAY CRY games, but I’m well aware of the anime and the throng of other multi-media tie-ins that those oh-so-pretty demon hunters have shown up in.
Now, it would seem like another head’s being added to the many already adorning the DEVIL MAY CRY beast. Variety’s reported that Screen Gems, the same production company that’s turned RESIDENT EVIL into a monster movie franchise, is eying this other horror-themed Capcom title for a feature treatment. And, you know, call it heresy, but I can very easily picture this working. Out of all the potential anime-to-Hollywood adaptations I’ve written about here, this feels like the one that’d need the least amount of tinkering to be palatable for the ever elusive mainstream audience. Seriously, all they’d really need to do is tone down some of the more… chic elements of Dante’s outfit and they’d be more golden than a chalice.
