Now if they can only work my hyper combo habit into this somehow.
Now if they can only work my hyper combo habit into this somehow.

I’ve been taking such pleasure in trouncing Dante and Trish, again and again, with my all-star team of Akuma, Super-Skrull and Zero in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3. Juggling them like helpless ragdolls in a nasty air combo gives me no end of enjoyment. Truth be told, my gleeful antagonism probably stems from me never really playing any of the DEVIL MAY CRY games, but I’m well aware of the anime and the throng of other multi-media tie-ins that those oh-so-pretty demon hunters have shown up in.

Now, it would seem like another head’s being added to the many already adorning the DEVIL MAY CRY beast. Variety’s reported that Screen Gems, the same production company that’s turned RESIDENT EVIL into a monster movie franchise, is eying this other horror-themed Capcom title for a feature treatment. And, you know, call it heresy, but I can very easily picture this working. Out of all the potential anime-to-Hollywood adaptations I’ve written about here, this feels like the one that’d need the least amount of tinkering to be palatable for the ever elusive mainstream audience. Seriously, all they’d really need to do is tone down some of the more… chic elements of Dante’s outfit and they’d be more golden than a chalice.

This would be nice if they do a good job. The first anime wasn't super good but it did justice to DMC.

No one likes Trish.  Not when Lady could have been in MVC3 instead.

I wouldn't mind this as I've played the games and seen the anime. It's not a title that lights my fire but if can be done well then I'm game.

I@metalsnakezero: I doubt they will do a good job

Let's all be honest with ourselves...that Devil May Cry anime...was FUCKING GARBAGE! You don't play Devil May Cry for the story. You play it to shoot and slash shit.

I think DMC could make a nice live-action american movie.
It is still better then a japanese one anyway, because anime characters ironically look white most of the time.

I think it would make a nice film since america has shown it can make good demon slayer movies

I personally lost interest in MvC3 when I heard they removed Jill Valentine and made her DLC. I'm not going to buy a game then pay even more to get the character I want from the start. My problem with fighters is that you kind of have to invest yourself into really learning them if you want to have fun. Also with fighting games, they are mostly only fun if you have a group of people to play them with.

I'm more curious if this will be the white-haired Dante or the Sex Pistols' Dante.

The chances of this being a "anime-to-Hollywood" adaptation is extremely slim. It'll be loosely based on the video game series that it was created as and will be another bad video game film. Even more so as the Resident Evil film franchise people are in charge.

Yes it was. I do. Partly that too.

Tell that to some of the top MvC3 players on the planet who play as her. On top of that she is more powerful than Lady and has the most powerful weapon in the entire DMC series, The Sparda Sword. Lady's weapon, the Kalina Ann, is used by Dante in MvC3.

Vergil has a better shot of making it as a DLC character than she does to be honest.

I assume white-haired Dante as the Sex Pistols version "DmC" won't be released for a while yet. The new developers Ninja Theory who was handed the franchise by Capcom won't have time to give Screen Gems pointers and it probably isn't their place to do so in any case. they have to prove they can make a competent reboot of the franchise first.

@FLStyle:  Here's a classic Gamespot moment that this reminds me of. Here's the best entry in the 60 second recap contest from way back when for Devil May Cry 3:

Highly amusing! He forgot to mention that Arkham and Jester are the same character though. That was the worst part. The parts that involved Dante, Vergil, Sparda and Mundus were cool.

I personally think this would translate into live-action poorly, in my personal opinion it should be left as a video-game and anime series for now and not be put through the live action hack job.

I've enjoyed all of the RE movies that I've seen to varying degrees so I'm kinda interested in this.  If Suckerpunch is as kick ass as I'm hoping, my excitement for DMC will sky rocket.

This could probably, but only with good writers.

When I saw this guy in the 2008 MMA film Never Back Down I immediately thought, if they ever made a Devil May Cry film, he'd be a good choice.
