Rave Master is a popular fifty-one episode anime that originates in Japan and was created by Hiro Mashima.


Rave Master is produced by Studio Deen and directed by Takashi Watanabe and aired on TBS in October 2001. The series ended in September 2002.


In North America, Cartoonnetwork aired Rave Master on its Toonami block in June 2004. After the series was cancelled, it aired on Syfy in 2009.

Plot Summary

Teenager Haru Glory inherits the Rave Sword, a weapon wielded 50 years earlier by the legendary Rave Master Shiba. Shiba managed to forestall disaster by scattering the evil Shadow Stones throughout the world in a mighty explosion, but in the process also lost the "good" Rave Stones. When Haru fishes a weird looking dog, Plue, out of the sea, he also inherits Shiba's faithful canine companion. Heading to the city of Hip Hop with Plue, Haru joins forces with the feisty Elie and soon finds himself on a quest to collect the scattered stones, while evading the Shadow Guards and their General Shuda. Can the pair and their allies succeed in their quest?

Story Arcs

Season 1

Intro Arc ( 1-2)

Location: Hip Hop City on Song Continent

Haru and Elie meet each other for the first time. Also, Haru meets Shuda and clash with him. With the help of Plue, Haru destroys Shuda's Dark Bring, but his Ten Commandments Sword is also broken. Interestingly, Haru's purpose is to find the Rave and destroy Demon Card while Elie's purpose is to find her memories, they both share their motives with Hole, another Demon Card enemy. Hole helps citizens escape the organization by escaping Hip Hop Street through her tunnels underground. She helps them escape from Lance's thugs and safely travel them through Hip Hop City, as they were being looked for by the division of Demon Card members in the city.

Musica Arc (3-8)

Location: Punk Street on Song Continent

Haru and Elie meet Hamrio Musica of the Silver Rhythm gang, Galein Musica (blacksmith), and Lance of the Demon Card headquarters in Punk Street. Haru help the two Musica gain closure after defeating and destroying Lance's Dark Bring. That is of course after Elie is taken by the Demon Card, and Hamrio attempts to save her, and gets caught up in the process. Luckily, Haru is there to save Hamrio, and Elie for the second time.

Episode 9 (No arc?)

Location: Between Punk Street and Ska Village on Song Continent

Haru and Elie meet Griffon Kato who is their guide for their journey to the Lands of Falling Stars. The viewers find out Griffon Kato is a pervert, Plue shrivels in hot water, and Elie has some connection to the Rave.

Dancing Thunder Arc (10-12)

Location: Ska Village on Song Continent

Haru, Elie, and Plue help a village by stopping the five year long rain. To accomplish this task, they defeat Go and his Dark Bring, and Plue helps turn off the machine that controls the rain. Elie finds out more about her memories as she obtains a photo of the Thunder man, Sieg Hart, from Go.

Shuda Arc (13-18)

Location: Land of Falling Stars and Rhapsodia, Shuda's ship, on Song Continent.

Haru and the company meet Musica again, and Haru obtains the Rave of Knowledge from Gearhound. Although Haru has the Rave, he is forced to fight Shuda while Musica and Elie fights Shuda's henchmen, Lugas and Busha. Eventually, Haru defeats Shuda and learns that Gale is Shuda's friend.

Mystery of Elie Arc (19-24)

Location: A city with the Symphonia museum, the beach, and casinos on Song Continent.

Elie realizes that she and Resha share the same face after seeing her portrait at the Symphonia museum. Meanwhile, Sieg Hart and Reina appear; Sieg Hart is looking for Elie. Sieg Hart finds Elie who is crying and wants to remember her past. Sieg Hart explains that he found her 3 years in a Etherion lab, and he tells her that she is #3173 and that she has no family. Despite that Elie's memories of her family, Sieg Hart proceeds to kill her or attempt to kill her. Haru arrives after a fortuneteller assist him in finding Elie. Even though Sieg Hart has the advantage, Haru fights on and summons Rune Save. After Sieg Hart has use Altairis on Haru, he gets stab by Reina, and Reina gets caught from behind by Musica. Elie wakes up Haru in Altairis, but her Etherion awakens. Haru saves the day by using Runesave to seal her magic to save both the world and Elie.

Journey to Blue City and Lyrics Continent (25-26)

Location: Blue City on Song Continent and the train traveling to Lyrics Continent.

Musica reunites with Melodia in Blue City, but he makes the decision to go with Haru and Elie to Lyrics Continent. On the train, Haru and his gang meet the Big Butt Bandits for the first time.

Tower of Din Arc (27-38)

Location: Ray Barrier City under the desert sands on Lyrics Continent (Lucas in the subs).
