Absent Parents

When certain Anime/Manga is brought to America & edited in some way. This might be to conform with different guidelines regarding children's programming or to combine episodes, or several other reasons.

Amnesia

Mental condition of when someone forgets almost all of his or her past, including his/her identity. Some anime characters have such an allingment.

Animal Cruelty

Just like reality, anime and manga have animal cruelty where humans treat animals like objects and use them for fights to entertain themselves. It's cruel to neglect to take care of an animal and it is also cruel to kill or torture animal without reason.

Antagonist

The main opposing force of a story. Normally the antagonist is a villain but other forms of fiction may have them as heroes or indifferent characters.

Assassins

A person who was paid to preform the extermination of a specific person.

Bad Ass Fight Scene

A fight scene or epic battle that stands above the norm of what the series offers and goes down in history as one of the best combat encounters in the series. The perfect combination of epicness and animation.

Bathing Scene

Bathing Scenes, while occasionally meaningful to plot or character development, are generally excuses for fan service.

Big Butt Bandits (Dub) or Getsupuri Gang are a trio of men with big butts of the Rave Master franchise.

A Broken Friendship is a dead relationship between two people or more.

Broken Promise

A broken promise is a frequent and sad theme in anime and real life.

A male and a female member of a family that share the same parents.

Childhood Friend

The character has known the protagonist for a long time, typically all his/her life. If he/she's from the opposite gender there's a high chance he/she has a crush on the main character.

When a character's clothes become torn from an attack, such as an explosion or energy blast.

Collateral Damage

Collateral Damage is a military term describing a situation where soldiers destroy property or kill civilians by accident or on purpose. Example:Dragon Ball Z, there is a lot of property damages and lives lost when Majin Buu blows up the whole city.

Comedy

Nearly every anime has a comedic moment here or there. Everyone likes to laugh.

Crazy Anime Hair

Huge spikes, multiple colors, gravity-defying ponytails... and it's probably all natural somehow too.

What someone does when upset/sad. Sometimes people can also cry from sheer joy.

Cyborgs

A fictional being that is part organic and part machine.

Dark Past

One or more past events that negatively affected one or more people. It's very common in an anime for at least one person to have such a past.

Dark Side

Not to be confused with "Evil Twin" which is a completely different person who is an evil version of a character, the Dark Side is an internal evil persona of a character. It is often seen as a figure that must be defeated to gain control over one's own body and gain extra powers.

Demon Card

Demon Card is a major organization who uses the dark powers of the Dark Bring to bring evil and violence in the world.

Demons

Are powerful creatures that live in the pits of Hell. That are many classes and levels for these monsters but no matter the rank they are deadly beasts.

Determinator

A character who refuses to give up no matter what their odds are. They may be bruised, burned, mangled, crippled, or nearly dead but they will never quit. These roles are usually fulfilled by heroes.

Doctors

A Doctor is a medical professional that works to the goal of curing illness in others.

Dogs

Canine animal with four legs that is seen as a pet.

Doryu Ghost Squad

The Doryu Ghost Squad is a group who uses Dark Bring to compete with Demon Card and other organizations in Rave Master franchise.

Dragons

A legendary creature that is typically reptilian, that can fly and can breathe fire and sometimes ice.

Drama

Drama is a concept used in story telling to invoke an emotional reaction from the audience by using serious themes; such as tragedy, suspense, and death.

Drunk

Someone who loves to consume alcohol, and typically overdoes it.

Eclipse

An astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadow of another.

Espionage

This is the act of secretly watching a person or group to gather information, often for political purposes. Spies typically disguise themselves so that they might sneak around. Espionage is also frequently tied to assassination plots.

Etherion

Etherion is a powerful magic that exists in two franchises, Rave Master (first) and Fairy Tail (second). It has the power to destroy while having the power to create.

Exhibitionism

The most basic definition is nudity in public, but an exhibitionist in a broader sense is someone who just simply looks for an excuse to take their clothes off or feels more comfortable without them.

Father

Fatherhood as a concept. A man who has conceived or raised a child.

Fighting Dirty

Sometimes its the only way to win a fight, and sometimes characters just have no honor. Either way these characters don't like to play fair.

First Kiss

The act of someone giving or receiving their first kiss, or a particular couple kissing for the first time.

Five Palace Guardians

The Five Palace Guardians are King's soldiers who fight Haru's gang during the Tower of Din arc.

Flashback

Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Fortune Telling

A fortune teller is a person with divine or magical powers who can tell various bits of personal information about an unknown person. She/he can tell the future, more often she/he can see one of many potential futures. Sometimes objects like tarot cards, tea leaves, crystal balls are used to assist the fortune teller in his/her reading.

Gambler

Someone who plays games of chance on a regular basis in hopes of getting rich quick.

Ghosts

A ghost is a dead persons spirit that roams the earth usually attached to where they died or refusing to go to the after life until there are finished on earth.

Hand Shake

A hand shake symbolizes a start of a new friendship, or respect for another creature/human.

Heroic Sacrifice

An act when someone gives up something of great importance for a greater good.
