Rape is included in many mainstream anime as a plot device. Even in shows most American fans view as kid friendly such as Voltron, it's Japanese big brother GoLion has implied Daibazaal (Zarkon) as a rapist and Sincline (Lotor) as the unexpected result. This concept as horrible and unpleasant as it is has surfaced in many mainstream anime series, though it is usually put a stop to while it is at the attempted rape point.
