Howdy everyone! Welcome to the first part of the Puella Magi Madoka★Magica news blog where I put together lots of old news from Crunchyroll. Given that we have two movies already aired and a third movie coming soon, there is a lot of hype and merchandise involved.

Merchandise

First off, it's the Madoka merchandise. Let's do the figurines and other misc merchandise.

If you're into collecting figurines, the Madoka franchise won't disappoint you.

For prices, check the Good Smile company link for the ultimate Madoka and the regular Madoka Kaname figurine.

Tea Cups and Scooters

In the misc department, we have tea cups and scooters.

The lithium-ion powered scooters cost 134,400 yen (about US$1676) each. Both can go at a max speed of 35 kilometers.

Manga

We got two cool manga spin-off releases in Japan.

Yen Press is the company publishing the new manga titles.

  • Puella Magi Oriko Magica by Kuroe Mura
  • Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice by Masaki Hiramatsu and Takashi Tensugi

Movies

We got cool posters that have amazing back drops of the cities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and France.

Then, we have back drops of Singapore, Korea, Japan, and US.

Also, we got character posters as well.

Now, we have a special film strip.

This film strip had been auctioned at Yahoo. It was sold at 1,080,001 Yen ($13,620).

Sources

Since I'm at school right now, I'll post the hyperlinks for now, and I'll come back and reorganize the links neatly.

God damn I wanted to see those movies. sadly I live in the south east united states literally as far from a showing as humanly possible without leaving the contiguous states. Long story short never got a chance to see the movies. Not going to pay for airfare I'm not that insane.

@Elfenlied1012:

I heard people in the U.S. got to watched it. See link. We just have to wait for the DVDs to be released over in Japan.

@metalsnakezero:

There is still more news to report. I'm surprised at how this series is so popular.

@takashichea: Im not, it's good. as for people seeing it a bunch did, sold out wherever it showed. The closest showing to me however was Huston which is four states away

I saw both of the Madoka Magica movies since I live near LA. Short version is that if you loved the series you will love the movies. I will post a more in depth description of the movies and the specials things that happened during the screening later since I am currently on an tablet.

@NoOne_13:

It sucks that I caught the news late. I used to live in Los Angeles, but I still live near the city.

Ok here is what happened at the screening I went too. The two movies were exactly what everyone expected, the entire series shortened into two movies. At first I thought that would have to cut out a lot of material to make everything fit but that wasn't the case. The entire series was only 6 hours long and the movies were about 2 hours each so most of what was cut were just the throwaway lines and scenes plus some moments were more fast paced than they were in the series to make up some time.

There were changes made but they were not the stuff most fans would cry over. Some of the battles were more a bit more dramatic than they were in the series and they added in new music for some of the scenes along with a different opening at the beginning of the first move. The only change that really bugged and I thought was pointless was how they had an opening similar to the one in the series to in the middle of the second movie. Yea you read that right there was an opening in the middle of the second movie. It appears in between two major acts so it wasn't as intrusive as it could have been but I still thought it was pointless.

But since I went to the first screening they had some amazing extras. First they handed out a movie poster and signed artwork for free to everyone who attended. They also had the American voice actors for main girls and Kyubey show up and watch the movie with the rest of us. And before the first movie started they showed a interview with the Japanese VAs saying thanks and talking about their favorite parts of the series. Without mentioning spoilers of course. And it finish things off they showed the trailer for the third movie after the credits of the second movie.

Here is the poster and artwork they gave out.

@NoOne_13:

Thank you for sharing your story. The Madoka artwork looks awesome.

Was the movie dubbed or subbed?

Post by NoOne_13 (61 posts) See mini bio Level 9

@takashichea: The movie was sub which in my opinion isn't the greatest when you are in a theater because if you miss anything then you cant go back which can get annoying if you zone out for a second or two.
