No idea what direction BermanBraun will be going but it has announced that it will be creating three new sites using the Whiskey platform.

I haven't commented yet not because I don't care about this site but because I have been incredibly busy with Giant Bomb and personal stuff. I can say from the bottom of my heart that I want to see this site grow and get the love and attention it deserves. Over the years I've been criticized for whitewashing for defending Whiskey Media's management of Anime Vice, but the truth of the matter is I have always been a half glass full type of person. I can only hope that new management can only mean good things for this site. Sure you can prepare for the worst but a little optimism goes a long ways in making things more palpable.
Anyways, the times are changing and I know that regardless of the relationship between this site and Giant Bomb that I will continue to comment here and view articles and blogs written by the community and whatever editorial staff the site has.
Man you all are assholes for not hyperlinking my username.

Which means the anime distribution industry in North America is now an oligopoly.
You give them too much credit suggesting that they were keeping it from being an oligopoly. Funi and Viz run the market share game and whenever Disney decides to release a Miyazaki movie they give #1 a run for their money with that single release.
It's not all bad though. The US market is in such a rush to bottom when it comes to pricing that nobody can really abuse power in a way that negatively effects the pockets of consumers.
Having time to re-examine my comments has led me to realize they are a hyperbole. The distribution of anime is like most media in North America in that it has always been oligopolic.
@ZombiePie: Counting the number of leftover distributors:The number of names suggests monopolistic competition (which is still not that great for consumers) but without any hard numbers about how much of the market each of those distributors owns it's hard to tell. I would hazard a guess however that two or three of those names comprise of over 50% of the distribution market in North America.
- Funimation
- Sentai Filmworks
- Media Blasters
- NIS America
- Rightstuf
- Aniplex
- Viz Media
Still a bit more diverse than choices you would have locally with anything like Internet or TV services.

@ZombiePie: Not completely under. The company will still be holding licensing, streaming and broadcasting rights to its titles. The company is just exiting the distribution side of the anime industry here in the states.

The update to this news story isn't just that North American distribution has been halted but that Bandai Entertainment has completely gone under.
Well... so much for all three of the people patiently waiting for a North American release of Turn A Gundam!
I don't man, I felt like that 2009 movie was garbage and one of the biggest wastes of time I felt like I got rope a doped into. I mean that movie was mind numbing in its laziness.
@Newten: Your Chie doesn't have enough layers for her right. I demand a refund.
@Bigheart711: Ana has left Tested and Whiskey Media.
Which means the last member of the original Anime Vice content team has left (if you didn't know Ana was the intern that edited all of the old videos way back when).
The Wall Post Flood Protection System has been terminated across all sites....not sure if this is a good idea.
If you start watching Yu-Yu I may experience a relapse in my anime therapy and could experience a mental breakdown. Please...don't do this to me.

@ZombiePie: By the way, in an attempt to keep this thread kind-sorta on-topic, I think I remember you saying you watched Zero no Tsukaima. Interested in season 4 at all?
The season 2 closer was one of the worst things I ever have watched and the series really went down hill halfway into season 2, and that third season...man fuck that shit. The way they convey heart-warming or touching moments and immediately whiplash it with a fan service gag just got old and often ruined genuinely good scenes. In the end I think they wasted a perfectly good plot to make something that played to the cheap crowd.
That said I'm going to watch it. I've already invested this much of my time into the series. Why not see how things finally come together at the end?
@Newten: It's just your account that is broken. Weird I know.
Also I added sexual partial nudity to the no porn images rule on Giant Bomb.
@Newten: Yeah...I'm gonna image audit your Giant Bomb account.
I'm about the most ardent supporter of hard science fiction you'll ever meet. Clarke and Asimov all the way.
@Newten:
It's not like I don't have any semblance of diction or journalistic criticism.
