Oh I plan on watching psycho pass don't worry ;). Finished from the new world now so have an opening. I wouldn't call Aldonoah zero uneven as I loved every episode. It may be that it surprised me as it started out looking super generic (oh look main character killed NOT in first episode and they are going to act like we shouldn't see it for ten episodes le sigh) and then was not. If I had come into it knowing it was by the Madoka guy I might have had a very different expectation and not been able to look past it, don't know. Next few days will start psycho pass.
Oh and on secret world - found the "mummy" at the hotel and talked to him for awhile HILARIOUS. Haven't done any of his quests yet but plan on doing so still doing all the ones in the city, messed with the Egyptian statues and got into the secret temple...but then died quickly so going back to get better gear. Loving the feel of Egypt so far.
To any here who have no idea what i am talking about GO PLAY SECRET WORLD. Best MMO on the market right now! Just don't expect it to hold your hand ...

7 was epic. Say hello to the new ship same as the old ship... er well not exactly. But not predictable at all how the show is playing out. Maybe the slickest world build , design an story progression for me in the mech gene in years. Even those great ones in the last 3 or so years. This seems well put together. So I will happlysecond @Supreme Marvel: praise as well.
Watching this I was wishing http://palladiumbooks.com would do a adaption of this for their rpg pen an paper system like with http://palladium-store.com/1001/category/Robotech.html
Have not read through all of this yet and late to the party on this one but this is the quote I agree with and wanted to show Marshal I do at times like the same shows he does ;). Like the rest of you I predicted the fact the princess wasn't dead (though not that the martians were involved until about half way through second episode) at the end of the first. If I had known at the time it was Madoka (the GRR Martian of anime) at the time I might have thought it was more. I almost wonder if he was trolling with his own reputation there, almost killing the princess in the middle, and then killing her (I don't buy she is STILL alive) in the end. BY FAR the best of this season. Generic in the first episode but then rather than dragging out the is she or isn't she dead through six episodes as a weaker show would do we get right to the yup she is alive and about two shows later characters as well as just us know she is alive, then it moves to the problems with facisim (something much of Japan still has a fascination with so something they need to remember is bad) and the ending .... oh god ... I should have seen it coming as it was the butcher of anime but damn. Not sure where they go from here - slaine becomes the main character he is somehow related to the royal family? What do we know about him? He has the same yellow hair of the princess, but as far as we know he is a terran and it was his father that came to Mars after he was born (right?). Someone cheated somewhere? His father isn't who he thinks his father is? I give the show props for being unpredictable. A lesser show would have had the princess give the mech to inaho but that is not this show.
Incredibly high marks the butcher has still got it!
And reading your prediction that the mech was going to go to Inaho Marshal - HILARIOUS after seeing the ending. Of course that was what everyone predicted..which is why it didn't happen. I think your lost opportunities is still a good theme. I mean arguably if Inaho had treated slaine more like an ally the ending would have been different. If slaine had trusted his noble (yellow haired one, not that he had any reason to) earlier and not become crazy from torture ending would have been different. And Tak I agree that video was very odd ... but then ever since the 80's I have not found Saturday night live at all funny.
@takashichea: Correct...but with heavy anime influences so why I thought it might be interesting to this group. @Bigheart711: Yeah it is amazing it works as well as it does. I like the one you listed as your favorite as mine I think as well...though give me chocolate is rather hilarious also. There facebook page has pictures of them in costume all smiley with people from slayer and such...which is really really hilarious. As is the reaction from some fans....which hate them incredibly.
Yes you read the title right. Imagine, heavy metal riffs, heavy metal volume, heavy metal stage settings, now add three Japanese girls two just turned 15 one 16 in Japanese pop idol outfits (just above knee length dresses, knee high socks, Mary Jane shoes) now make it 100 times odder than your mental image....but yet still awesome.
THIS IS BABYMETAL!
(note wasn't exactly sure where to put this so put it here...)

@takashichea: so its just a novel with illustrations that can have any type of quality? I mean Branden Sanderson's work has illustrations but I wouldn't call his work in any way "light" I mean you hit someone with one of his books (especially the storm bringers saga) it knocks you out. This seems like a time of word for word translation failing. I wouldn't make any assumptions I would normally make and that I made simply because it has illustrations (especially ones as good as the above). So it doesn't mean the book is "lightweight" in any sense of the word? Interesting I wonder what the term really means then....lighter on text since page that has picture doesn't have text? (this seems silly as picture is an "extra" and it isn't like it is taking away text AND seems rather anti-illustration for a culture that is so pro visual art).
Edit: did a quick search and couldn't find anything from the light novel for from the new world looked because the above I recognized the anime immediately and it wasn't one I watched so was curious if the illustrations are the same. I really do hope someone translates the novel I want to see if it is as close to the giver as people on CR are saying the show is...it has been years since I read the giver but that is not a connection I would have made. (But comparing it to that is like comparing it to Shakespeare so....)
My understanding is that it is a novel. I thought the light had something to do with um..quality...ease of reading....so a light novel would be something like a young adult novel or a picture book I don't know...please do anyone who knows correct me.
Still haven't watch this series yet.
You guys and gals should check out blog on possible English release of the Shin Sekai Yori light novel.'s
SHIT any update on this as I first wouldn't call it a light novel in any sense of the word (NOTHING about this show is light) and to your above comment nope no moe in this show at all....though damn could it use some about episode 16 or so shit...
@Supreme Marvel: eh that always seemed like a rather ridiculous interpretation to me as that just set them back to where they were before he unbalanced it, and it was the expectation that it was then balanced to begin with aka before he was born which would mean there wouldn't be a prophecy for one to balance it. Aka if it was balanced before the empire (as it would have to be if destroying the empire put it back in balance) why would they have a prophecy of one to bring balance back...before the empire....
This whole prophecy part of the new movies that he is somehow supposed to fulfill....never made any sense. Even Lucas's explanations didn't help any. He really did loose it with these most recent movies. Selling the franchise to someone else was the best thing he ever did...
@takashichea: hmmm I'm not sure if I would let my child at 13 even watch that show...I don't know.....still at least she wasn't 8...
Not so sure it would be one I would buy but I buy truly little anime at this point in my life. Maddoka is the next I think I am going to buy but I haven't yet. What did you think of the way they did the painting at the end? When we saw it hanging in the museum at the end of the credits what painting was it? Was nobu in the position of Christ if so then is it safe to assume that is supposed to represent the "real" painting and what then should we make of the comment about Nobo being Judas....in the "correct" painting by da vinci?
Well I seem to be the only one still watching this which is sad as it ended very well true to the characters, true to history, and with interesting if somewhat predictable philosophical message. It does do some things that are unexpected and it MAY make a religious idea that is rather sacrilegious not sure (watch the painting at the end closely). Overall above average definitely if not one of the best I have seen, but definitely worth watching.
@takashichea: Oh ok ha I was thinking she was like 8. 17 is still not a little sister to me though I can see how it would be as my little sister is 31. But wait...at 17 shouldn't she have been getting the jokes.....? And na this is on tangent as that show is a very good example of what I worry about as though it isn't really all that bad it plays into the mainstream medias perception of anime fullscale.
oh wow you watched lotts toy with your little sister.....*blink* wow....that I would not have done. Though the show did become a very cute father daughter story the whole set up with her needing uh...sperm....was a bit much for a child. I mean how old was your sister here?
Still the mainstream media seems to think all anime is like the above child kidnap rape and murder. Of course this is ridiculous it is like saying all American movies are saw but until the shows that have this stuff go away the perception will remain and if we want to spread the culture AND keep getting new stuff aka have people keep getting paid for making it we should worry about that. I expect my parents still are a little worried about my anime hobby (and I am 35) and it certainly isn't something i talk about with anyone I want to give me a job.
THIS is the kind of coverage anime gets now, and it is not nearly as bad as it used to be....
Stuff like this is why when ever I tell people I watch anime I have to worry about them immediately assuming I am evil...
(note I put this here as not sure where else to put it if a better forum for this exists please move it there)
