Not so sure it would be one I would buy but I buy truly little anime at this point in my life. Maddoka is the next I think I am going to buy but I haven't yet. What did you think of the way they did the painting at the end? When we saw it hanging in the museum at the end of the credits what painting was it? Was nobu in the position of Christ if so then is it safe to assume that is supposed to represent the "real" painting and what then should we make of the comment about Nobo being Judas....in the "correct" painting by da vinci?

Well I seem to be the only one still watching this which is sad as it ended very well true to the characters, true to history, and with interesting if somewhat predictable philosophical message. It does do some things that are unexpected and it MAY make a religious idea that is rather sacrilegious not sure (watch the painting at the end closely). Overall above average definitely if not one of the best I have seen, but definitely worth watching.

@takashichea: Oh ok ha I was thinking she was like 8. 17 is still not a little sister to me though I can see how it would be as my little sister is 31. But wait...at 17 shouldn't she have been getting the jokes.....? And na this is on tangent as that show is a very good example of what I worry about as though it isn't really all that bad it plays into the mainstream medias perception of anime fullscale.

@takashichea:

oh wow you watched lotts toy with your little sister.....*blink* wow....that I would not have done. Though the show did become a very cute father daughter story the whole set up with her needing uh...sperm....was a bit much for a child. I mean how old was your sister here?

Still the mainstream media seems to think all anime is like the above child kidnap rape and murder. Of course this is ridiculous it is like saying all American movies are saw but until the shows that have this stuff go away the perception will remain and if we want to spread the culture AND keep getting new stuff aka have people keep getting paid for making it we should worry about that. I expect my parents still are a little worried about my anime hobby (and I am 35) and it certainly isn't something i talk about with anyone I want to give me a job.

THIS is the kind of coverage anime gets now, and it is not nearly as bad as it used to be....

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/world/2014/06/18/pkg-ripley-japan-child-porn-laws.cnn.html

Stuff like this is why when ever I tell people I watch anime I have to worry about them immediately assuming I am evil...

(note I put this here as not sure where else to put it if a better forum for this exists please move it there)

Ah so glad someone else is still watching this. Notice that nobo became Jesus...aka the king of kings from the opening - I really should have seen earlier where that was going - and was Arthur controlling the voices to Joan at the end? One person has surmised that perhaps Arthur is Kenshin. Which would be interesting - I mean we already have crazy quantum mechanics (they really should have had a cat come out of shrodingers box) in this. So now perhaps we get to see what the holy grail is or will Mitsude act like Judas? I also love Da Vinci like yeah this battle will decide the fate of the world - let me sit here and talk about painting....

Show MIGHT be messing with Christianity and Western figures to much for me now in the end but man what a ride!

Just Anime » does anyone remember these animes...?

Yup first one is R.O.D. the TV and if you haven't seen the movie you need to HILARIOUS Japanese anime take on James Bond and done incredibly well. A great anime to show to people new to anime as it has the anime oddity sensibility but doesn't over do it and has a general western action plot at its core.

@LHWKnight: annoyed they made Jean into such an idiot she really should have figured out she had a regali like five episodes ago...and I wish honestly himiko had stayed dead as everytime she gets all lovey dovey with our lead I just feel wrong...why does Japan have to make women that are likely of age look like they are eight....?

Still show is becoming MUCH more interesting and as long as you can get past the western planet being evil, and all the figures from western history being basically evil (I mean ok Ceaser I can somewhat understand as he was a dictator and such but King Arthur and the round table as evil really....?) it is interesting. Hopefully it will stay that way and not fall into being basically a complete Japanese nationalist formula.

@Marshal Victory: wait you thought that episode was long man it went by REALLY fast for me. Well we learned why the old lady was so unflappable 2000 + years of life experience will do that for you I guess and wow what a tough life and her hatred of the historical figure nobunagun gets her powers from was interesting AND the theme that sometimes you have to fight to protect things is something America and the western world needs to remember wit Crimea being exhibit A (ok to ask directly what are the rules on discussing politics here...on some forums the little bit I just did might be to much). And MAN was it wonderful to see our heroine pull one over on the over confident strategists and kudos to them for seeing how she was right so quickly and to Jack for forcing her to do it. The misscommunication and understanding when nobou thought he was talking about something else entirely was also cute and done well. Lord knows teenagers get into those situations. Did we just leave alone however the fact she brought her powers out without an AU ball...did noone else see that, is she not going to mention it...? I really hope they go back to this.

On a different note - we need a way to look at newest posts only on these threads and would be great to receive notice when a thread you posted in has been posted in. Without naming names have come to like the community here much better than at some other forums but the forum setup at other places is honestly better.

General Discussion » so is nationalism increasing to much in Japan....?

@DocHaus: Yeah better examples Doc knew about them but this was just the most recent and the most shocking to me. That said yes our history is full of problems we like to whitewash though I don't totally agree with our moderators take on the revolutionary war. I'd like to think we don't marginalize ours as much as other countries....but that would be a lie so....

Possible - one thing I realized after thinking about this episode she is always looking at a necklace...gee wonder what that could be....wonder if we are going to figure out how people always get these and if it is always woman. At least Nobunga got his first one from a woman and it looks like arc will eventually give him hers - and it is plausible that the fire wind guy (who did anyone else realize he had two before I did not) got his from a female. Not sure if the west has them though ceasar hasn't seemed to.

Saw this story the other day: http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/21/world/asia/japan-anne-frank-diary-vandalized/index.html

and was aghast but then started thinking about the current anime season we have two shows about Oda and one that makes the west and some of our most important historical/literary figures look rather bad. The fool makes Ceaser into a total ass and king author into the bad guy. (And Magellan into a space pirate). I don't think Japan is about to invade anyone but this is somewhat disturbing to me. Thoughts?

I am still enjoying this. It isn't as serious as the other nobu show which I have to say surprised me as I thought the fool was going to be all about bouncy breasts after the first three episodes, and this had some good interplay between the nube gaining respect and not knowing what to do. Her answer to what to do was also awesome even if it doesn't fit with the idea of her gun not being able to accept normal matter. And yeah someone needs to figure out who the other historical figures are because I don't recognize them either.

I did love the leading ladies response to the whole thing though, talk about unflappable, who ever she is she is certainly something else.

@takashichea: Yeah after things calm down and Oda wins he will admit what he did why be forgiven but then kill himself. That is why they had the beginning the way they did I expect. I have to say they do like to make the west look bad in this show which is making me want to write it off but wow it is so good. Episode 7 was incredible sad, but awesome, and I love how what really was a civil war (with both sides trying to kill the leader of the other as you know it was the advisers trying to kill Nobu) leads to an all out war. So who was the tarot card referring to this time and why did da vinci not let her take one? Da Vinci I have not figured out yet at all...

His two imps (one of who I guess is supposed to be female?) are they supposed to represent romulus and remus?

And seriously you had to kill off his wife (at least Monkey seems to be getting some loli bait I guess) man I mean she was total loli bait but she was at least interesting. I mean geez. Beginning to think I am watching an anime by George RR Martian or something.

Ok a why you should watch this show - Do you like anti-utopias? Do you like mysterious thought provoking anime? Do you like philosophy? Do you like things like Gurran Lagan, Eva, Ghost in the Shell? Do you think the focus on Moe is destroying Anime? THEN YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW! Really along with Madoka, and Kill la Kill this is one of the best anime series I have seen in the last five years.

So I would love to discuss this series with others as I watch it. On episode 2 now and wow do I love this series! Take 1984 and brave new world add a Japanese anime sensitivity and partial out how the world works and how it got that way in very discrete portions mysteriously and you have me hooked. Obviously some very deeper things going on behind the scenes here and some statements being made about human society. If you haven't checked this out you should do so now. (The section on the site for the show is not very full I may try to fill it out but may be to much like work I don't know....)

Anyone else watched or watching this or want to watch this?

Well.....THAT was unexpectedLY AWESOME! I had written this show off as being all flash and no thought provoking but now oh yes now I see how wrong I was. MAN, was he right to kill the other and probably save the clan? What was the older brother trying to acheive with what he did at the funeral...did no one else see the leaves from the cherry tree as a magic symbol if so why did they not comment on it? WHAT IS DA VINCI's GAME?? This just massivly shot up in my list of good shows this season.

Still think a little show I found called from the new world from last season is going to be better (if you have not watched it you should) but wow did this get much better than I expected.
