Yes, those are truely relationships designed as commentary on the modern relationship between men and women, not throw away moments of humor.  Wake me up when the actual balance of power in a harem relationship rests with the female, and they are not simply tsunderes who are ultimately submissive, not dominant.

Mobile Suit Gundam » Strongest Gundam

@Kuro_San said:

Unicorn is grossly overpowered for the kind of Mobile suits you get in U.C continuity, making him the king of cheapness in regular continuity. On alternate universes, the XX Gundam is pretty powerful, God Gundam is also a good contender, but it depends on the pilot. The 00 Raiser is pretty damn awesome as most of the 00 mobile suits (I love Mr. Bushido and Susanwoo) and reigns as kick-ass supreme on Anno Domini continuity...

It's really the prevalence of Gundams being developed around a newtype pilot's abilities that makes the Unicorn so powerful. Yes, it is fast and has one heck of a rifle, but its ability to take control of a Newtype mobile suite's favorite weapon of choice, funnels, that makes the NTD mode stand out: a technological response to a biological evolution. That makes the Sinanju, with its lack of any such newtype weapons, such a convenient enemy.

If we're staying within the UC time line, I'd ultimately say the GP-02, with its ability to fire nukes autonomously. Its a one trick pony but that trick fucking hurts. If we are talking about any timeline in general, then really guys, there is only one choice. Turn A Gundam (and the Turn X) has the moonlight butterfly. It has the ability to turn every single piece of technology on the planet into dust. You can't beat that, not even with Jesus Yamato's beamspam Freedom.

Persona 4: The Animation » Persona 4 Episode 1: Success and Failure in Familiarity

Huh, I don't suppose there's any way for a mod to delete this thread is there?  I'd much prefer reposting this as a blog post, but I have no intention of spamming the forums with two identical bodies of text.

Persona 4: The Animation » Persona 4 Episode 1: Success and Failure in Familiarity

Adaptations are tricky things to get right.  Cross-medium adaptations are even more difficult.  Like others before it, Persona 4 wades its way through trying to capitalize on the source.  And like others before it, the results are mixed, though I'd say it succeeds more than it fails thus far.
Both in visual and audio, the episode strives for familiarity.  Tracks from Persona 4's OST are inserted properly through out the episode with the OP theme being the opening track for the game in full.  Visually, things like the above calender and the persona summoning eye catch are seen, certain to bring much delight to fans of the game.  The usage of the status growth screen as the episode eye-catch is particularly interesting.  One can only speculate, but perhaps they will let it develop just as it did in game, hinting at possible S.link based plot points in up coming episodes as it reaches the proper number of courage points to down the curry.
As I said previously though, its attempt at familiarity is both success and failure, and I don't just mean how the MC's name is not "Charlie Tunoku".  Certain scenes simply do not translate from game to anime all too well, the most obvious being the initial entry into the television world.  The televised version simply felt rushed and Yosuke's urine antics leading to the falling into the TV, instead of delivering a good laugh as it did in game, had me raising an eye brow at in annoyance at how absurd and poor that scene felt.
The MC's silent protagonist retreatment also bears mentioning.  One can count the lines of dialogue he has in the episode on your fingers and toes.  While that is not bad unto itself, his incredibly reserved, shy, and passive personality is simply not the type of character he presented himself as in game, regardless of player decisions.  Things do get a bit more lively and heated during the combat scene (and I don't just mean when he starts stripping) as he utters a few emotion filled lines, and one can only hope his personality does not remain so blank.
Familiarity is a double edged sword.  One can only hope Persona 4 handles it well.  The first episode was far more good than bad despite my criticsms, and one can only hope it keeps going that way.

Macross Plus

Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories

The first was a Chinese dub of Mashin Hero Wataru back in 1990. Latest is Revolutionary Girl Utena. A combination of Wataru and Robotech was what made me fall in love with the mecha genre. Planes that turned into robots fucking blew my mind as a 3 year-old.

General Discussion » Tiger & Bunny 25: why would you do that.... (no spoilers)

I'll keep this brief as after watching that episode, I could really use some Game Center CX to wash the after taste away.

After the events of 24, there were speculations on just how the newly announced season of Tiger & Bunny would effect the finale.  Now that it's aired, I think it is safe to say the answer to that is horribly.  Let's cut the episode up into two halves: the halve that was obviously originally planned from the start, and the half that was contrived up to justify yet another season.  The first half ended around the 15 minute mark, and yet most likely was meant to be a full 30 minute episode.  Multiple scenes suffered from some rather absurd discontinuity because of what felt like cut portions and a generally rushed pace ruined a good final fight.

The second half was equally bad.  Major contrivances were introduced to justify a second season and while Tiger & Bunny is a show not unfamiliar with goofiness, this just felt dumb and poorly executed.  My only wish right now is for the DVD release of the show to air some sort of Special for the finale and reinsert the cut scenes.  Of course, there is also the chance that the final episode was just poorly executed in both halves from the get-go in which case, god damnit.

Given that Tom has an active running series on this show, lets try to keep all discussion (and by that I mean bitching and moaning) spoiler free.

@Turambar: that won't make sinse, almost every knew game today has sexual content and they review all latest games. and despite that nobody ever had any problems with my username before... well except the matter that I spelled it wrong cause I was still learing english back then, but that's not the point. and it doesn't matter what you say, they still are not obeying the rules that other whiskey media mods follow that I mentioned before, including the threee warnings rule.

Whether a rule makes sense to you or not is quite separate from whether you need to follow it or not if you want to post on a forum where said rule governs. I may not agree with the whole profanity thing because of the inconsistencies that you just mentioned, but the TOS is something I agree to to post there. Also the question should be asked whether WM has the same rule across all its sites or if the rules are different. And if it is the same, and since these rules have had staff confirmation in existing on GB iirc, why it is not being enforced on AV as well.

Neon Genesis Evangelion » Meaning of the Last Episode of NG Evangelion Anime Series

@pelletboy: @WestboundRobN: The physical form of the Human Instrumentality Program is more clearly seen in the End of Evangelion movie, but through it, the final episode of the series can be explained as well. All living things are made of LCL, the fluid in the plug units that serve as cockpits for Evas, the blood of the Angel Lilith. Instrumentality, through the awakening of both Eva Unit 1 and Rei Ayanami tears away the weak AT-fields that all people have which allows them to maintain their physical forms, turning the world into a large sea of LCL.

This sea has only a single consciousness, no Ego. What Shinji in the final episode goes through is his psyche coming to accept instrumentality, giving up its sense of self, and embracing whatever ideal world the grand consciousness of the sea of LCL will engulf him in. That final scene where everyone he knows is standing there congratulating him is him achieving instrumentality, and all of what use to be humanity welcoming him into the fold.

End of Evangelion's ending however has Shinji refusing instrumentality. We are not privy to as much of his personal psyche in this version, but we do see him regaining human form, his Ego being powerful enough. The only other character within the show with such a powerful ego is Asuka, hence why they are ultimately alone in this sea of LCL.
