@zaldar: If only calling someone an idiot was really all you could say....I'll agree Hamon had rules, but they were just as loose as stands, especially by the end of Part 2. It could straighten spaghetti, extend your body parts, make leaves stick together, form an icicle rope, etc. Just because someone gets more imaginative with how to make use of or even use loopholes within those rules, doesn't mean ...

@Lurkero: I would hate more to see another overly cocky villain throw himself on the blades of the protagonist. Dio isn't claiming to be too good to fight, but rather he learned his lesson last time and wants to avoid fighting the Joestars directly - at least until he has time to build up power.

I'm reading through Jojo's now, and I feel like everything after the stands are introduced kinda feels more like modern shoenen. Not meaning that in a bad way exactly, but the "stand bad guy of the week" kind of runs the rest of the series (at least to where I'm up to, Part 6).I really like how creative the stands get though, and I feel like that's enough to get ...

Dio's not weak to fire as much as it's just handy since it destroys things in general quickly and constantly, making it hard to regenerate. Heat doesn't really have an effect though, it's just fire, and I wouldn't even call that a weakness. Hamon/Ripple is the only weakness and that's because it has the same wavelength as sunlight, not because it's hot.And yeah, it's not air that gives Jonathan power ...

@sickVisionz: Well considering that the past games in the J-Stars series were probably THE BEST CROSSOVER ANIME FIGHTING GAMES EVER, we all have our hopes a little high.Though yeah, doesn't mean that'll translate to 3D.....please, don't let us down.

I'm not a "fan" of Superman, but I respect him as a character, and can say that it's only different because it's Superman. That's the part that makes it even more ridiculous that no effort is even put in to try to protect innocents. It's not that people are all like 'Oh no, I don't like people dying!" it's the fact that Superman showed absolutely no care that people were ...

@Username_Undefined: I was going to mention this too until I realized that was true in the Saiyan saga, but then in the Android saga, when he was even more useless, he cut his hair!I'm not saying this makes the hair = strength point right. Just that it has a little bit more credence because of coincidences like those.

@sotyfan16: Dutch is a good call. The characters that just seem pretty run-of-the-mill and just happen to be of a certain race don't come to mind as easily, but are probably the best way to go about it.I view anime similar to the way you do I think. That's why I thought middle-eastern people may have been offended by Mr. Popo because he wears clothes from their culture (the turban ...

@Lurkero: Sorry again for the tone of my response, yours in contrast is much more even-tempered, something rare to find on the internet. So I appreciate that. Overall it's an opinion thing, and I don't think your opinion stems from ignorance like some others on the internet. I don't see Mr. Popo as deliberately "offensive and derogatory", but that doesn't mean everyone shouldn't. I think it's more important to be ...

@Lurkero: I know Mr. Popo isn't the only one. I mentioned another one in my post. I hope you read that far before replying. Meanwhile, you bring up a nearly two decade old video game cover/character in a conversation about anime, and expect it to still be relevant. I understand an anime artist most likely drew the cover, and how the in-game character would be considered offensive, but even then ...

Black person here.Mr. Popo is not offensive to anyone except people who shouldn't be offended by him. He's a genie man, a mystical thing, not human. The only black person in Dragon Ball, General Black, sure, is closer to offensive, but even then it's a stretch. Until recently, black people weren't portrayed in anime almost at all, and calling it offensive the few times they are is not a good ...

That took an amazing amount of balls Sam Weller, to say the unsaid for the whole of the internet to judge.I salute you.

@Donwun: Yeah I was gonna comment the same if no one else did. MAL is amazing for this kind of thing.

I think this is a really fantastic idea. I think the block format (as long as the blocks don't get too large) could work really well, as long as you're willing to be a bit more descriptive on exactly what happened within that chunk of eps than the old single-ep format.Plus it'll be nice to hear about a show you whole-heartedly enjoy rather that you dragging your way through like ...

You know, not EVERYTHING needs to be done In Media Res.Again, seeing Scar the first time fresh in this series paints him in a different light. I think this series goes for more of a slow progression of his actions, which is fine too. Jumping straight to the part where he's all pissed and causing havoc is fine as well, but no more exciting. A more thoughtful, world-searching Scar to ...

@sickVisionz: So you're saying the teenage boy fever dream includes hitting women to calm them down?Sam never said HotD was a "serious show", he said it had parts that were meant to be taken seriously, which is different. He knows the show has it's share of humor and everything else, but there are also parts that try to present the ongoing drama as something to not be entirely taken lightly.I'm ...

@YotaruVegeta: I think the majority of the series is probably alright, but the back third is the dry part. And the fact that there are giant robots involved and I can still say that is my point. I remember the robot fights being ok to middling, and it had some memorable villains from time to time but most of them were one offs I think. All that gets thrown out ...

Watching it as a seemed very dry. I was old enough to appreciate anime that weren't all action and stuff, but even for a mech show it was extremely...stuffy feeling. I probably shouldn't move the scale either way as a result, but I know I have no interest in going back to try to give it another shot at an older age. The pay off doesn't seem worth it.I ...
