Hey guys,

Sorry I've not being writing much here on the blog. After watching Chaos; Head I went on holiday then came back and started the new of school and well I've not really had much time for anime between Halo Reach and homework = P The little I have been watching however seems to be stuff I've already watched. Like Ghost in the Shell, Gurren Lagann and Evangelion. Not that this is a bad thing but I haven't been watching anything new (well new to me at any rate).

I've just started  Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai which so far (only two episodes have been aired as of now) and I'm really enjoying it. It's quite nice to watch a more 'down to earth' anime. The characters make me smile and I think Kyosuke and Kirino play well of each other and while showing the typical 'older brother and younger sister' relationship (basically getting at each others throats all the time) its also rather endearing and fun to watch. Then there's the Okatu side of things which I find interesting as myself have never been to Japan its a nice insight on how they are viewed in Japan. Then again I find it rather ironic as its audience is probably mainly Okatu's anyways, but really thats all part of the fun.

For you guys who haven't seen it yet. Basically, Kyousuke hasn't ever really bonded with his little sister Kirino who is basically uber popular, smart and well loved by all. She treats him with little respect until one day Kyousuke stumbles across a dating game hidden inside a magical girl anime. He quickly works out it belongs to Kirino and discovers her extensive moe anime collection.

Anyways off to play more Minecraft and eat Dorito's!

Till next time!

Ah Chaos Head where to start. I've seemed to have developed a strong love, hate relationship with the is series so strong I can easily cut the series in half and its all thanks to Takumi. Now first things first, turns out Takumi ends up as a great character and the truth is
that this is a good coming of age story BUT early on Takumi's character is such a turn off. Now don't get me wrong I don't want every
protagonist to be as like able as Goku but still Takumi doesn't do himself any favors. I've heard him being described as an older Shinji which I totally disagree with. Shinji tried from day one he just... needed a lot of convincing! Then again watching the evolution of Takumi from something worse than an Okatu to a member of sociality was great. The progression is defiantly one of the highlights of the show.
The art is fantastic and although this is the first Madhouse anime I've watched I'm looking forward into running into them again (after further research I've watched some of their stuff before. I didn't realise they are the studio behind Death Note) . It was by far some of the best I've seen in a while plus the music is very memorable too (I love the Outro theme song and the DOS text that types the lyrics out at the top left of the screen. Really fitted with Takumi's character. Not to forget its 16 bit bleeps and bloops which all added to the Otaku-ness).
The story line in my opinion was good as well but my main gripe was the needless techno babble that felt was there to pad. It felt like they had the story but had to make it at least 12 episodes long so they added all this Science Fiction nonsense that I just felt wasn't needed and didn't really add much to the story line and just made it more confusing. Okay it explained the powers of Takumi and co but is that really needed? I mean look what happened when George Lucas tried to give a scientific reason behind The Force. Some things are better of left un-said and this is one of them.
The plot twists where a bit predictable (the first time I heard and saw 'Shogun' I was pretty sure it was Takumi from the future or something of that description) yet they still kept me hooked and interested to find out more. None of this doesn't come into play till the final three episodes though! I just feel it would've been better if all the episodes where as full of suspense. I know that might be asking a lot but Code Geass R2 pulled it off so I know its possible.
I think Chaos Head had the potential to be something really unique and special but it tripped itself up with trying to give a reason for everything when it just wasn't needed. If they could condense the show down to say 8 episodes and have less Takumi playing his MMO and hating on 3 Dimensional women I think I would've enjoyed the show more. Although that said that doesn't stop the ending from being very heart warming I just felt it was a lot of hard work to get there in the first place.
It also reminded me a lot like the DS Game 'The World Ends With You' not just in location ( Shibuya) but in the meaning of the locations. For instance both places have Shibuya River being key places at the end of the series and showing the main protagonist at giant zebra crossing (The Scramble its called in TWEWY). Plus the use of the crossing the road noise (the sound that plays when you can cross the road basically X D). Not to forget the important of fashion in both of the worlds.
That leads me to another point, that whole 'Shibuya attracting young people' thing was also confusing and unnecessary, along with the detective explaining it. He seemed to play such a small role I'm not sure why he was featured so heavily.
The best way to describe this series is like a rainbow. Might take ages to follow but once you reach the end there's a pot of gold waiting for you (or something like that, I'm not great with analogies).
 Anyways till next time!

Hey guys,

Something that I've questioned myself about often has sprung back into my head recently. I was just about to download the intro and outro theme for the anime Chaos Head when I suddenly thought 'Is this right?' Now I pride myself in buying 80% of all my music and enjoy giving artists my money so they can create more for me to listen too. I think thats a fair trade. I give them money so I can listen to their stuff and in turn they will make more. Now when it comes anime themes a simple search on itunes instantly tells me if I'm looking for anything other than Death Note background music I'm stuffed or I'll have to put up with crappy covers that simply will not do and in my mind is just as bad as downloading from a torrent site as the artist still doesn't get any money!
So my question is as follows, as a British resident not able to get hold of J-Pop apart from twice a year if I'm lucky they have what I want at MCM London Expo is it okay for me to download this genre of music online?
Would love to hear other peoples views on this as well.
Anyways till next time!

 Hey Guys,
Recently I've been watching a few Naruto and Dragonball Z movies and well I've noticed how damn repetitive they are and then in some cases the animation isn't really up to scratch. Makes me think are these movies literally a way to make heaps of cash quickly?
They all seem to follow the pattern of: Main characters are minding their own business when suddenly evil dudes appear and small fight breaks out as if its a teaser to what's to come. Then the main characters train/travel learn some moral lesson nearly loose to the main bad guy but to have their butt saved in the final second by a anti hero or weakest member of the group and then the main character finishes main bad guy off.
Then again I still kinda enjoy them X D Sometimes its nice to watch predictable action movies.
But is their any that break the mold?
 Anyways till next time!

Hey Guys!
After watching and really enjoying Angel Beats! and hearing that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is made by the same guys I thought I'll give it a try. I have once
 I'm a firing my laser!
 I'm a firing my laser!
before but well the home movie they made for the first episode kinda put me off. Even still now I haven't managed to watch it all. It's way too cheesy although Mikuru's laser firing skills made me smile.
Anyways aside from that I did rather enjoy the series as a whole and quite like putting the story together. It's a bit like a jigsaw puzzle. They give you all the pieces in a random order and you have to slowly put it together. Which I thought made it very unique and helps it stand out from the crowd although I don't think it was as great as people made out it to be. Yes the jigsaw idea was neat, the animation was good and the musical score was pretty good as well but I felt the story was a bit lacking.
The whole idea of Haruhi being a bored Goddess but not knowing it was cool but I felt they could've done a lot more with it.
The power she welds is only glimpsed at and just when things start to heat up the series was ended. All in all the ending felt rather anti climatic especially compared to Angel Beats! Plus we seem to learn hardly anything about the characters backgrounds. Every time you thought 'yes finally were gonna learn about a character!' turns out that information is 'classified'. This meant I found it hard to truly relate to any of the characters bar Kyon (Although now I come to think of it that may have meant to be the case).
Although I did really like Kyon. He made me laugh on a number of occasions just because how he reacts to Haruhi's mad capped ideas.
Maybe if I watch ' The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya' it'll help fill in some of the blanks for me. Although I heard thats just a re telling of the original story with another arc on the end that over stays it's welcome *EDIT* Sorry I got confused with the release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the title above = P
Anyways I feel like I'm going to be totally hated now for writing probably not the most positive post about one of the most loved anime series out there! I just hope they can see my point before they start throwing stones at me X D
Anyways till next time!
