Gantz immediately springs to mind. I got to ep 20 and thought 'crap! they aren't going to finish this are they?' the series ends halfway through a storyline with a fade to black...Elfen Lied was also pretty bad, though that could have just been because I love it so much I never wanted it to end.

This show is easily my favourite show of the year. Me and the gf sat and watched every week we haven't done that since HotD. It's really cute and very well animated although some don't like the spartan background design (same arguments agains Azumanga and that shows amazing)

@ChristinaAV Here are my recommendations for slice of life. They are some of the best shows I've ever seen, they warm even my shrivelled gore addled heart. Watch them all. Usagi Drop Azumanga Daioh Ano Hana As for other stuff to watch I can't help but recommend the ol' reliable shows Elfen Lied (watch the opening scene and see if you like it.) Death Note
