When you are a full fledged wiki editor who has passed 5,000 wiki points, you want to work on a franchise in the site. You always want to check if there is an active wiki project. If you look at the top editors and they are active (a year or less). Don't be afraid to ask. I'm pretty sure all our wiki editors are nice folks who will help you. We won't ignore someone asking for help. We had to ask help before. It's the golden rule.
From experience, I have been into many wiki projects and form many teams. I believe a strong communication and helping to get back to wiki editors is the key to making a strong team. If I'm busy, I will tell my teammates I'll be a bit late.
Without communication, we will run in edit wars. The wiki editing in the community is cooperative. Everyone has their preferences and skills to contribute to the team. If you jump in, you can cause more work for someone or a team who is actively working on a project. That can be from writing pages, changing things significantly, or uploading images, possibly duplicates.
If someone's working, just ask them first.
In the wiki, we have to work together. Images that are better and hi res should replace lower image qualities or watermarked images. Pages with grammatical errors are fixed without question asked. If you are going to change something significantly on an active project, it is your best interest to contact wiki editors if they are active and part of a team.
For projects, please check Wiki Project PMs ~ Lets Conquer the Wiki Together! or my blogs. I have publishing wiki project blogs seasonally: New Summer 2014 Wiki Projects and Goals.
History of Disputes My Teammates and I Have Resolved
- Fairy Tail Images - Anna and I deleted tons of duplicate images, transferred to both character and episode galleries, and deleted poor images.
- Attack on Titan - I confronted a new user who was not checking the episode and character galleries. Cleaned his dupe images and reminded him several times to check with me.
- Blue Exorcist - Had took over the project. Talked to the editors to not upload watermarked and dupe images several times.
- Tokyo Ghouls - Confronted a user who didn't check the episode and character galleries. User uploaded anime caps into the franchise gallery instead of the character or episode galleries. Did not check with the active wiki editors.
