Welcome everyone to this week's manga releases! Boy, we have a lot. Most of them are relatively obscure series since the 1st and 2nd week are heavy with Shonen releases. in my opinion, the best manga cover for this week goes to Raqiya. It has a beautiful, detail illustration of the character which makes her come out alive.

Shows I'm familiar with: Nurse Hitomi is a monster girl/guy genre with slice of life themes. I tried the first chapter. Loved the cute character design and the comedic interactions between our nurse and her students. Lastly, I watched Witch Craft Works' anime series. I still crave more for the series. Haven't read the manga yet. It involves a town full of witches, ones that support destruction while the other support order. One guy gets caught in the war, and he is under the protection of a beautiful witch who is the most popular gal at his school, Ayaka Kagari.

I would love to hear your recommendations on the rest of the manga series featured this week. All comments are welcome. Thank you.

Disclaimer: I'm just promoting the official release and the publishers. I'm not selling you anything. This is to combat piracy and get fans to support the official release. All summaries are from ANN.

Over the past years in the wiki community, we have a ton of new Shonen series especially for Shonen Jump. Not many new and veteran wiki editors know the work of this one wiki editor, DestinyHeroKnight, who has worked in the community since 2009. His project involves the Shonen Jump. Often he is one of the first Shonen wiki editors to add characters and attach them to the Shonen Jump Anthology magazines before these characters and their series become collected into Tankobon where most wiki editors start their project on.

Potential Issues

The main conflicts I run as a wiki mod is how fan subbing groups and official companies like Viz Media and Kodansha name their characters and the manga series. I often run into dupe pages. To prevent this, I created this blog to inform our wiki editors of all ages.

**It's imperative to check here if you are dealing with new Shonen Jump characters who haven't had a Tankobon yet.

This list will be updated by me or DHK. Please feel free to ask questions and also refer to the Winter 2015 Wiki Projects (Solo and Teams) thread for all active solo and team wiki projects. In this community, communication is key. Thank you.

My Hero Academia

In a world in which 80% of the population has superpowers there are people who abuse their powers and people who use it for the good. The world has become a world of superheroes and supervillains.

Black Clover
Asta has a big dream—he wants to become the next Wizard King! There's just one problem—he can't use magic. Making matters worse, his best friend seems to have an abundance of magical ability. But Asta's not giving up! Not by a long shot! He's determined more than ever to bring out his powers and show the world he can be the King! In my opinion, a good issue of Weekly Shonen Jump should have a little bit of everything. Some sci-fi, fantasy, sports and battle manga. And maybe some kind of love story. We've been sorely lacking in the fantasy department for a while, so it's nice to get a taste of that genre, even if it is only for few weeks.

According to the manga Bakuman, the second chapter is even more important than the first! Because it's easy enough to hook readers, but keeping them on the line is another story. For the record, I'm paraphrasing there. That being said, or paraphrased in this case, I'd say this is an excellent second chapter. We get to learn more about both the main characters in a fun and amusing way. And we also learn more of those cute/weird white blobby things' powers. And if you're anything like me, learning about new powers is always fun!

What appeared before high school student, Yuuki, was a mysterious cute girl—Ai Roborovskii!! The truth was that she was a robot created by the hands of Yuuki's father who was a professor in Robotics. And this Ai's strongest weapon was…eroticism!? A super slapstick, robotic, erotic comedy!!

Gakkyu Hotei

Bullying, corporal punishment, school hierarchies... In order to have the children solve the problems that thrive within educational settings with their own hands, the current government introduced the School Judgment System!! Taking place in all grade schools, a ruthless school trial begins now!!

Takujo No Ageha

Ririka Otsuka is the hottest girl at school and is at the center of every guy's attention. Her only secret was that her house was a shabby old table tennis center… One day, a transfer student appears before Ririka—Ageha Hanazono. Despite his fairy-tale name, he's a super lame and nerdy guy with glasses. Ririka lightheartedly goes and tries to tease Ageha. However, Ageha responds with— "I'm already in a committed relationship with table tennis. Therefore I do not intend to engage in an illicit sexual relationship with you." How...humiliating! There's actually a guy that doesn't fall for me—Ririka Otsuka?! Ririka sets up a table tennis match to try and outwit Ageha. Once the lame and nerdy pervert (a.k.a. the main character) is given a racket, he flies like a butterfly and dances atop the tables!! An all new hyper fast table tennis manga—Love all!!

Sporting Salt

The main character, Hiroyuki Shioya, at first sight looks to be just a short grade-schooler. However, the truth was that he was a high school student who had the eyes to look past a person's physical features in one look! He aims of becoming the number one sports doctor in Japan!! An all new sports medicine manga starts here!!

The headquarters of Japanese Judo—Sondokan. Who showed up there was what looked to be just an average boy, Hana Yanagi. But the truth was that he and his background concealed an unimaginable secret hidden away in the Japanese Judo world!?

Hi-Fi Cluster

A.D. 2045, Tokyo— A near future where it's normal for abilities to be turned into Apps, and they are downloadable by placing special labels onto the body. In this Ability Society, for some unknown reason, there was a poor boy who couldn't synchronize with any of the labels—Heita. Heita, who didn't have a place in society, unexpectedly meets a man in a black suit with a prosthetic arm—Kandera.

Welcome everyone, we got a good selection this week. Here is my take. The only movie I seen is Pokemon's. I'm interested in watching Princess Kaguya, being a Ghibli fan. After Miyazaki's influence, I grew to love Ghibli films. I heard about Hozuki's Coolheadedness from Marshal Victory who was one of the few folks in the community to have watched it. Lastly, Patlabor is another mech show on my list to try. I heard a lot of good things about this series, and I'm looking to expand my list of watched mech anime series. I only seen mostly mech series set in war. It would be a refreshing change for me.

I would love to hear your recommendations on the rest of the manga series featured this week. All comments are welcome. Thank you.

DVD and Blu Ray Releases

Hozuki's Coolheadedness
  • Distributor: Sentai Filmworks
  • Suggested Retail Price: $59.98 (Blu-ray), $49.98 (DVD)

There are hard jobs and there are jobs that seem outright impossible, but in the end, the most difficult job in all creation probably belongs to Hozuki, Hell's hardest working bureaucrat. That's because Hozuki is Deputy Chief to Enma, the King of Hell. Enma spends all his time sitting in judgment of the recently deceased, so it's up to Hozuki to keep the dark half of the afterlife running smoothly. And that would be hellishly complicated even if Hell wasn't constantly short on good help.

Fortunately, Hozuki's not the typical bureaucratic hothead you'd expect to find heading a department of infernal affairs. Fiendishly clever and determined enough to dedicate multiple lifetimes to a task (though not necessarily his own lifetimes), he'll get the job done even if it means breaking a few unbreakable rules and running circles around Hell's normal operating procedures.

As for patience... well, Hell hasn't frozen over quite yet, so the verdict's still out on that, but he doesn't suffer fools lightly, let alone damned fools. After all, that Highway to Hell isn't going to get paved with just good intentions, so if someone has to suffer for all eternity, Hozuki's damned sure that it's not going to be himself!

Contains episodes 1-13. Special Features: Clean Opening Animation, Clean Closing Animation. Spoken Languages: Japanese, English subtitles.

A Certain Magical Index: The Movie - The Miracle of Endymion (Blu-Ray/DVD)

When the beautiful singer lands a big break, her miraculous voice attracts unwanted attention, making the songstress a target for magicians and scholars alike. As the battle between sorcery and science blasts into space, Kamijo, Index, and their allies in Academy City are rocketed to a psychedelic stadium thousands of feet above Japan in a desperate attempt to keep Arisa - and the rest of the world - safe.

Special Features: Audio Commentary, Trailers, TV Spots, Promotional Videos. Spoken Languages: English, Japanese, English subtitles.

Patlabor: The New Files
  • Distributor: MAIDEN JAPAN
  • Suggested Retail Price: $59.98 (Blu-ray), $49.98 (DVD)

Every cop has a story to tell, but not all of them are safe to show on television. That's especially true in the crazed world of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police's Special Vehicle Section, because when you toss giant robots into the mix almost anything can happen. A teddy bear holding people hostage and a search for albino alligators may just be typical days on the job, but what about an undercover mission into a public bathhouse looking for suspicious moles?

What happens when the only place where you and your coworker can wait out a typhoon is a room in one of Japan's notorious "Love Hotels"? Then there's that drunken weekend at the hot springs and the infamous "underwear incident." But not every story has a humorous edge, and what begins as a battle for corporate survival turns into a melee in the streets as the makers of the deadly Griffin return for the ultimate exercise in urban combat! Noa Izumi and the men and women of the SV2 reveal the stories that couldn't be told before!

Contains episodes 1-16. Spoken Languages (episodes 1-4): English, Japanese, English subtitles. Spoken Languages (episodes 5-16): Japanese, English subtitles.

Hello everyone! Just sharing some cool artwork from Valentine's Day this year. Figured it would be a nice break to post this before getting back to work. I wish I posted this on Feb. 14, but I was out sick the whole weekend while trying to study for midterms this week. Please share any artwork, official or fan art.

Infinite Stratos (Charlotte and Francesca)
Infinite Stratos (Charlotte and Francesca)

For you Infinite Stratos fan, a dose of cat girl maids with juicy chocolate is a double whammy here.

Fairy Tail (Wendy)
Fairy Tail (Wendy)

Was expecting Hiro Mashima to put Lucy or Erza, two of the most popular and endowed Fairy Tail gals. Seeing Wendy here was just so adorable. She has that shy but determined look to give out chocolate to someone.

Nurse Hitomi
Nurse Hitomi

Have read Nurse-Teacher Hitomi's infirmary to sample it once I heard about another monster manga series being licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment. It reminds me of Monster Musume. Nurse and cyclops combo is a double win!

Didn't know it was Ban's birthday! Ban is one cool dude.

Lastly, we have Sonico and Pochaco. Sonico is rocking the cute succubus theme while Pochaco is very risque with her outfit and theme. Pochaco is one of the few anime characters that have very wide hips. Most of time, you see well endowed characters with thin figure or hour glass shape (cough One Piece). It's nice to see diversity in beauty.

Thank you everyone for reading. I bet you all had a great Valentines weekend.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Winter 2014-15 experiences where I share what recommendations I took up during the seasons. Every season, I check this list (Anime Vicer's Recommendations) that has recommendations from my friends, teammates, and folks from the community. I do this fun project to promote sharing and recommending new anime and manga. I hope you guys and gals share, too. Makes our community feel a lot closer.

Don't worry, I don't mention any spoilers in this blog. I'm going to highlight the fun, the weird, and the bad parts in my experience. For my little winter break, I only tried three anime series: Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Persona 4 the Animation, and Persona 4 the Golden Animation.

In the Wolf Girl & Black Prince Discussion, the anime series had some unfortunate things that annoy viewers/turn them away such as how gullible Erika is and how messed up the main love interest. I had a recommendation from both my friends to clean out the taste of bad Shoujo rom com with Maid Sama.

Maid Sama was a cute Shoujo series set in your average high school. Your heroine is Misaki who dislikes boys and protects her female classmates with the power of being the school president. She is a tough tomboy who has a secret, being maid waitress at a cafe to support her family. Her secret was eventually found out by Takumi. (I can't remember if it was a blackmail or not) She spends time with Takumi to make no one knows she has a double life.

I enjoy the series well. If you don't focus on the unfortunate gender roles. There was an implication on Misaki who is a strong girl yet she works as a maid. Another issue was the characters especially Takumi's backstory wasn't reveal much except for hints in the credits. The ending was decent but left things unsolved.

I recommend this to folks who don't mind another regular Shoujo, romantic comedic series. It was definitely better than Wolf Girl and Black Prince.

Persona 4

We had a huge Persona craze back in the old days of Anime Vice when the first Persona 4 anime series hit Japan. Foxx and Nick were working on the Persona 4 reviews. I didn't try it back then. Some time later, I asked Hailinel on which Persona game to try since I thought I needed to play the game first to enjoy the anime. I believe he recommended Persona 2. BigHeart711 was a huge fan, and he had a Velvet Room theme going on.

In the winter, I watched Persona 4 the Golden Animation, thinking it was a remake. That was a dumb mistake since I got lost. I realized I got to try the 1st anime series. Here are what both series offered:

  • 1st Anime - Offers action and character development along with a faithful adaptation of the game
  • Golden - I believe it was pure fan service for the folks who played the game. Marie is the main center, but if you don't like her, your mileage might vary with the 2nd series.

I enjoyed the first series the most. Golden is very rushed since it skips around. If you haven't play the game, don't worry, the 1st series does a fantastic job explaining what the world is about and making you be attached to the characters. The only thing that was confusing was the Personas, the creatures our main heroes and heroines summon to fight shadows. I finally figured out after playing the game that there are social links and only the main character can change Persona. Social Links are part of the game mechanics where you improve your relationship which makes leveling up Persona easier during summoning. The anime doesn't focus a lot on game play mechanics but rather the characters and story.

I would recommend to folks who enjoy mystery drama with a side of pseudo harem elements. After seeing the anime, there were jokes on the protagonist on being a man whore. After playing the game, he is a man whore due to the social links and dating sim elements. First time for me to experience SIM stuff in a RPG game.

Thank you everyone for reading. I hope you recommend anime and manga series to your friends! I would love to hear recommendations, too.
