Hey everyone, welcome to this report where I spotlight our community achievements and their work as well as going through historic events.

In this community, we want folks to know we are proud of their works.

Please let me know if I made a mistake or miss something. I try my best to highlight everything from every sub community and forums of Anime Vice.

Battle

Best Battle Users

  • Anime Vice Battle User of January 2015: EVA_01 - Eva was an outstanding user. He helped users at the mismatch center frequently. Help report on trouble cases in our community. Eva's theme help boost more comic book awareness. First half, we were heavy in mech threads and Type Moon. The latter half, we saw more comic themed threads. Interestingly, we saw the rise of Esdeath in the latter half due to the Akame ga Kill's execution arc.

We also have the Battle Community Archive 2014 that has everyone's battle preferences.

Policies

During the holidays, we saw increased in traffic for the community, leading to more threads reaching 100 posts. Because most of our mods are on a holiday break, there weren't enough mods or users to report on threads reaching over 100. Some of the threads reached past 200. To accommodate that, Dream and Sonata agree to extend the 100 post limit to 200 posts.

Issues

We had a lot of new users coming in our community. Often, there are some minor issues. The only major issue were a few users dodging bans where Dream contacted the forum mods to help keep the peace. Then, we contact Tom to delete user accounts. We haven't done that since fall 2013.

  • Bumping old one sided threads
  • Debating politely - a new thread was opened, How to Debate Politely to help users.

Wiki

We have two 2014 blogs:

Events

  • In the Wiki Warriors Taka & Tai, Taichokage and I share our experiences in the wiki community. Taichokage reached 100,000 wiki points on the last day of 2014 while I became the top wiki editor of community.
  • Users Who Passed 1,000 Points: Akronawol17 reached this achievement. He has worked hard on the O-Parts Hunter project by himself. Congrats to him!

New Policies

  • We don't have any that passed. There was one policy that was about nudity, but the wiki mods reached a stalemate between the ones who advocate censorship to keep the reputation of the site clean as part of Ethan's New Rules: No Hentai Images and the ones who want nudity for sexually explicit images.

That's part of a growing community. We are open to everything.

New Projects

  • Winter 2015 Wiki Projects (Solo and Teams) - I posted this so folks know who is working on what. You can contact them if they want to team up or not. Some folks prefer solo work while others are about team work. This is a dynamic part of the wiki community. Being close knit, we still advocate individuality and community values.
  • Winter 2015 Wiki Task Themes - This season's theme are the new Winter 2015 anime, Jojo, Manhwa, and Yu Yu Hakusho.

RPG

We have more new faces in the community, EvilMegaCookie and LordNox. This prompted more new character bios. A lot of the older RPG projects from 2014 are being revived. Unforgiving Trees, The Vice Before Christmas, and Another Roll of the Die are the newer, recent projects that are the hottest RPG projects during January. WayBig is currently writing the Vicer of Awards for January. There were a bit of some issues during the character process for EvilMegaCookie since other folks did not like adapting abstract concepts to an RPG character.

Active RPG Projects

New Character Bios

Closed RPG Projects

Discussions

Keys

  • Yellow - For series that are 2 cour and above. I mark certain shows with 3 even though they are above 3's.

We have the Winter 2015 season. The most commented winter 2015 show was actually The Testament of Sister New Devil which was followed by Death Parade. The most viewed Winter 2015 shows were Death Parade followed by Durarara!!x2. For the 2 cour and above shows, Log Horizon has the most views, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure had the most comments.

For manga, we had only 3 manga discussions that were active this month. Toriko manga was the most popular followed by Seven Deadly Sins in terms of comments. We are encouraging folks to hit the discussion threads. We have more traffic than ever compared to last year.

Matt of Rooster Teeth wrote on Monday that RWBY creator and director Monty Oum passed away on Sunday. He was 33.

Rooster Teeth announced earlier this week that Oum had been hospitalized. Matt confirmed that Oum fell into a coma ten days ago after suffering an allergic reaction to a medical procedure.

Oum and Rooster Teeth's original animated web series RWBY is streaming on Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth's website. He also worked on seasons eight through ten of the web series Red Vs. Blue and Namco Bandai Games' Afro Samurai game.

Source: ANN

Making this a personal thread rather than a formal news thread. I was introduced to Monty Oum's works from the Master Chief vs Samus Aran video. Never watched Red vs Blue and Dead Fantasy which my siblings loved. RWBY was a cool series where I enjoyed watching it with family and friends in Anime Vice. RWBY was special since people argued it challenged the definitions of anime especially in our community of what we covered in the wiki and news. Monty Oum's works made a strong impact on all of animation industry.

I apologized for not writing a good eulogy, just an amateur writer since I'm mostly used to writing wiki pages and social science/physical science academic papers.

Please share your thoughts as we share a moment of silence for this gifted individual. Thank you.

Welcome to the last week of manga releases!

For this week, the only series familiar is Fairy Tail. I recommend to folks who love Shonen and doesn't mind the Shonen cliches such as friendship. For unfamiliar series, I would give Lovephobia a try. I haven't seen a lot of vampire themed manga series after Rosario Vampire and Chibi Vampire.

I would love to hear your recommendations on the rest of the manga series featured this week. All comments are welcome. Thank you.

Disclaimer: I'm just promoting the official release and the publishers. I'm not selling you anything. This is to combat piracy and get fans to support the official release. All summaries are from ANN.

Welcome to the last week for the DVD and Blu-Ray releases this week! We have a small selection for you guys and gals to browse. I'm only familiar with 2 series, Nisekoi and Maid Sama. The best cover art would be Jin-Roh since it fits it summary well. You got the soldier standing in front of the moon, giving that dark impression.

  • Nisekoi - If you love harem, comedy, and slice of life, check this out. You have a yakuza kid and a mafia girl having a pretend relationship so their families don't fight each other. The yakuza kid has amnesia, and he seeks to find the girl he had met 10 years ago. I don't the series ever gets close to that mystery.
  • Maid sama - It's a cute Shoujo rom com with your usual comedic scenes. For me, it was just decent, nothing unique. I did get some unfortunate implications about the gender roles in this show.

I would love to hear your recommendations on these series. All comments are welcome. Thank you.

Hello everyone! One of the strange things you notice I have a high affinity besides cars and wiki is calendars. I like them a lot. I have a Club Nintendo one in my room. It's one of merchandise I can show off without feeling so weird and geeky.

Amagi Brilliant Park

I haven't seen Amagi Brilliant Park yet. I thought my friend Daniel did since he had 2 GIFs from that franchise for the caption contest. The calendar artwork is very vibrant and it features very cute girls. One issue is the numbers are hard to see since they are printed on the vibrant background. They get lost a bit. If you are into functionality, this might be a turn off.

Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

I loved the Fate franchise. The calendar is unfortunately decent. The March/April and May/June are simple poses of your beautiful heroines. For the covers July/August and September/October posters, they reuse covers such as these posters used for the simulcast. I wished they did more new things. I was expecting crazy outfits (that would fit Fate/Kaleid more) or more seasonal themes like Saber, Rin, and Sakura in beautiful yukatas or bikinis.

One Piece

I loved the One Piece 2015 version. You got a nice, traditional layout. Each cover features the Straw Hat Pirates in awesome poses, great attire, and colorful backgrounds. I loved January and December ones. Yes, the December one has Rebecca crying. I'm not a sicko who likes a cover with a beautiful gal crying. No, I'm not that way.
