"The most recent example I've seen is Eureka and Renton from Eureka Seven. Their relationship feels really natural and resonates with the viewer. I believe this is my favorite romance anime (although it's actually action for the most part, romance isn't relegated to the background) because the relationship evolves throughout the show and nothing feels forced like in many romance anime. "

Great example! Eureka Seven is my friends favourite animé and one of my favourites. My, said friend, forced me to watch the upto at least the 2nd episode because I think he knew I'd love the Seven Swell.

Senjougahara Hitagi from Bakemonogatari I really love because I adore the tall, long-haired, intelligent & snarky types in anime.

Another great example! I've recently fallen in love with this animé. Hitagi and Shinobu are my favourites. All the cast in that series are so good. I even made this, which took me 3 days.

Chi-Chi » Does Chi Chi even care about Goku anymore?

I find it that they share the same traits at times. We always see Goku going off to train and leaving behind his family. So maybe she has some right to be angry at him.

Battles » Yu-Gi-Oh Cast vs Digimon Cast

This might a partially irrelevant answer. But I've always loved Davis since the beginning of Digimon Season 2.

" Characters are always the most important in all anime for me. Anime has to have a good character development and interactions, story comes after that. "
Do you have any examples of characters that you feel have progressed well? I like to hear what people like about some of their favourite characters. And why they make them so.

Anyone know of any animé film that are set in Tokyo? Or for at least Tokyo to play an important part in that animé? It's for a 4000 word essay. I've got the choice of choosing a city and I want to do Tokyo. I've got Akira on the list. I just need another one preferably set in modern times.

" @supreme_marvel:  I am glad that I have gotten someone interested in new animes that they would perhaps never have tried or looked into. As for Eishiro Sugata and Mikako (Heaven's Lost Property), they are much better in the anime, especially Mikakao, who as the future heiress of a powerful Yakuza crime family, takes turns at throwing events and challenges involving Tomoki and friends to the extreme. If you have the time, do look into the manga ( Sora no Otoshimono), which features more plot and story-moving content compared to the ecchi/harem-infused anime that does a decent job balancing wild, random moments with some serious tones towards the end. "
Yeah I noticed the serious section always tend to come near the end. Do you know when the next series is coming out? Or are they doing a film to end it?

My core has filled with calm for some reason. This is good considering I've got 2 presentations to do this afternoon.

Well as I listed before I could watch anything by Bones. And what I've just seen, Bones produce Soul Eater so I might check that out.

"Visuals: For me, if it looks of decent quality and seems to have been well made by the studio, then I will be hard pressed not to continue it. There were several animes that I would have given up on, if they had not looked as good as they did visually."

I feel the same way about Bones. I can watch anything from them. That all started with Eureka Seven. I found that aesthetically pleasing. As well as the story and characters.

"Humor: Most of the animes that I watch are ecchi/harem shows, thus this results in some good laughs and random moments among the characters. This can be seen in Heaven's Lost Property, in which boy pervert extraordinaire Tomoki Sakurai gets involved in elaborate, perverted schemes that always backfire in hilarious (and painful) ways."

I'm a sucker for them as well. You introduced me to Heaven's Lost Property. Which I found funny. At times I wanted a bit more serious episodes. But the others were funny. However for reason I dislike the grey haired guy and the girl he's always with. That's strange for me because I usually like purple haired females.

"Oh, and as a sucker for ecchi/harems, I also find myself watching animes that feature rather busty female characters from time to time. As of now, my friend Tara is trying to tempt me with Rio - Rainbow Gate....but I am busy with One Piece, Heaven's Lost Property: Forte, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Beelzebub at the moment xD"

I've taken up Toaru Majutsu no Index since I heard you mentioning it. I've watched the first season. And once I've got all this bloody essays and presentations out of the way I'll continue onto the second series. I still have Beelzebub on my list. And I could add Rio - Rainbow Gate. This is one bloody long list. Hopefully in time I'll think back and say it was worth it.

@Superevil225: No shame in looking for liking a animé for good looking people. :) I do find it easier to watch something when there is an attractive, in my case, female. If an animé wanted you to commit murder, that's a powerful show. Should I avoid? I don't want to be killing anyway of late.

@JJOR64: So you like a little fan-service then. Funny thing was I had no clue what fan-service was up until I watched Rosario + Vampire. I watched it an felt there was a lot of up-skirt and booby shots. Then while doing some research into other animés I came across fan-service. And it all became clear. :)

I usually find characters I like while watching a theme of animé, like harems. However not too recently I watched Bakemonogatari, and that's not the style so I had feeling of trepidation towards it. That wasn't the case from the first episode. I fell in love with the characters, and I mean every character. I can't get enough of it now. There is a minority of action and the majority is the story which is great. Just one problem with it. I can't seem to buy them on Blu-Ray within the UK. :(

People have many reasons in which they watch animé. What are yours? Do you prefer the story? Characters? Characters that relates to you? Genre? Theme? Action?

And if you do list your reasons, if possible would you be able to give an example of your thoughts? So people can check out that animé.
