I don't think I've ever described one of my dreams on this site but one thing that I HATE about them is that nightmare or pleasant, my dreams are mundane and always take place in realistic settings. If I have a nightmare, it's usually something about me losing rent or getting fired which makes me wake up very relieved. If it's positive, it's usually something like me getting a raise at work which means I wake up and then get bummed out.
But anyways, I woke up super excited to check out the One Piece manga this morning. I knew that what I read was a dream but just how fantastical and not true to life it was hadn't hit me yet. As I laid in bed thinking about making a thread to ask what episode this chapter ended up being, my brain started to process a few things and I realized that I was dreaming. The basic premise of the dream was that, just life real life, I have a bunch of boxes and books on my bedside table that I use to prop up my laptop to make it eye level when I'm laying in bed. One of those books in the dream was a thick volume of One Piece. I always slag on the series but something motivated me to check it out again. I was flipping through the pages (it had a Nami foldout poster in the middle that I didn't open up) and came across what was easily the best manga chapter I've ever read in my life.
Here are the red flags that tipped me off to something being amiss once I started to think about what I read:
The only things I remember about the battle is that Karui had two swords which she was able to rotate at high speed similar to Hisagi from Bleach. Spiderman had to be very cautious during the fight and was hiding behind trees like a ninja and creeping around the area. Eventually he was able to attach his web to one of the swords, which gave him a lot of momentum and I remember waking up thinking that Spiderman might actually win. Then the absurdity of it all hit me.
I was watching a lot of Bleach fights and scenes yesterday night so I think that's why I had hollow masks and anime action on my brain. Maybe Karui came because I was upset that there was no Shippuden this week. As for One Piece, I don't know how that entered into the equation. The only things I can think of are that I feel asleep watching episode one of Milky Holmes, which I was checking out because I wanted to watch something "new" but was kinda familiar (familiar because it's a moe comedy which I've seen a fair deal of). One Piece is something that is kinda "new" to me but I'm familiar with so maybe that triggered it. Or perhaps my brain thought the HST should be complete.
So yeah, that was that. Have any of you had any crazy anime/manga mash up dreams?
