General Discussion » Why my sister doesnt like One Piece

i don't like one piece, but not because of the animation (mostly) i  watched a couple episodes and it was just too silly (not in a bad way, just like looney) for me, i usually don't like those more silly anime, i mean anime can have funny moments, but if more than 2/3 of the anime is wacky characters doing wacky things..i'll pass

General Discussion » i hate Majin Buu

ok, i usually don't create hate threads but i have just been rewatching the entire Dragonball z series and finished the Buu saga and i have to say...i hate him as a villain.  Now Dragonball z, while it is legendary, isn't exactly the best anime ever, but they have had some good villains (especially Frieza and young Vegeta) but Buu is everything a villain shouldn't be, now i will list the main reasons i hate him.

1. He's indestructable. i agree that a good villain should be tough, or else it wouldn't be much of a challenge, but Buu's level of power is ridiculous. no matter what the z fighters (and by z fighters i mean just Goku and Vegeta) did to him, he would just heal from it, they could blow him to smitherens, cut him in half, blow holes through him, or even vaporize him and he would just keep coming back, it's ridiculous, i don't know who was worse, him or Aizen from Bleach with the amount of times they have come back from fatal injuries

2.his seemingly endless power source- it has been established that most z fighters in the z universe have a certain level to their power once that level is reached, they are too exhausted to continue and usually need rest (a lot like chakra in Naruto) however Buu seems to have unlimited power, he once destroyed dozens of worlds (including himself in the blasts) and it appeared that these planet busting blasts had no effect on his power supply, it's ridiculous

3. lastly, he has no motivation or personality- i always considered good villains to have some kind of motavation that drives them, they want to achieve an end goal, or avenge a wrong done to them, however Buu has no goal except to cause mindless destruction, its boring and uncreative. second a  villain needs SOME sort of a personality, whether it is arrogance, intelligence, cunning or sadistic wit, however Buu doesn't have one, besides acting like an infant (fat Buu) a brute (super buu) or an annoying brat who just laughs and roars (kid buu0 he never shows any sort of redeeming personality traits, i will admit that after abosrbing Piccolo and Gotenks he had some sort of smarts, but that was quickly downgraded once he reached kid buu levels.

so what do you guys think of Majin Buu? do you like him? hate him?

General Discussion » Anime Cliches you hate?

1. the annoying overly happy peppy little girls that scream and whine (aka Yachiru (the little girl on Kenpachi's shoulder) child Nel, )
2. the useless girl who does nothing but fawn over the main character
3. power ups
4. comic relief characters who aren't funny
5. useless characters who are "warriors" yet can't beat any villain and just stand around waiting for the main character to show up and save the day (i'm talking about you krillin!!)
5 long drawn out fights where the characters just stand around, mouth a gap looking at the villain's awesome powers

Battles » Itachi Uchiha Vs. Sasuke Uchiha

"Shall I tell you the difference between you and I? It's level. It's like the story of the monkey trying to capture the moon. No matter how he struggles, it's just the moon's reflection on the water he sees. So he only sinks into the water. Time after time, he sinks.

this is a quote from Byakuya Kuchiki...but this can be applied to Itachi and Sasuke as well

General Discussion » How do you feel about Sasuke Uchiha's development?

@AgentJ:

He was a rival, and a better-than-average one at that. Naruto and Sasuke seemed to have a healthy relationship founded on the classic "overachiever vs underdog", with just a hint of comrade re building subtly over time. The Zabuza arc did a brilliant job of fleshing out what our main characters were, as well as believably progressing them along their own paths.
I was also a fan of the jonin (or was it chuunin?) arc, where Kishimoto set the stage for what would come in the pre-time skip future. Sasuke meets Orochimaru and has to start dealing with his curse, which becomes part of his growing inferiority complex with Naruto. Sasuke has been the best at what he does for most of his life, and now he's beginning to be overshadowed by someone that wasn't even on his radar before. I'm sure most people can identify with his feelings as he lies powerless to help while his "rival" succeeds in his place.
His motivations for leaving are strong, there's no denying that. But his character was never better after he left. Would it have been cliche for Sasuke to change his mind after the waterfall fight? Absolutely. But I would have vastly preferred cliche over another cold, brooding psychopath with a heavy grudge. The character completely changes without a convincing reason. Before, Sasuke was like any other good character in fiction. He was somewhat likable, had strong points, but also had obvious weaknesses and deficiencies. He was real. And even as the antithesis of the main character, he grew on the audience over time. But after the time skip, he becomes generic, single-minded, and two-dimensional. He isn't "real" any more. His character is definied by taking revenge, without any other side to him. The reason why so many liked Itachi is because there was more to him (not to mention the nail polish and fish-nets). His motivations were interesting.
What I'm saying is that Sasuke needed to come back to team 7 at some point, for all the same reasons that it was powerful to leave in the first place. He was a puzzle piece, a necessary aspect in Naruto's and Sakura's lives. And while that made his betrayal compelling, it also stunted the series irreparably. Ideally, after beating Naruto at the waterfall, Sasuke would have realized what was going on and carried Naruto back to the village, understanding that he, like Naruto, has made friends among his peers. I'm still hoping that at some point in the near future this is what takes place, but at this point, he has probably done too much to ever be accepted again. And if they do welcome him back with open arms, that will be some bad writing. A plot-hole, even. :P
fanfreakintastic anaylsis, i feel the exact same way! although instead of him coming back after the battle at the waterfall, i would have put it after he defeated Itachi, i mean after all, we all knew it was coming but never the less you deserve respect for that post!!

General Discussion » How do you feel about Sasuke Uchiha's development?

now i've been watching/reading Naruto from the beginning, and although all of the characters have developed drastically (besides Kakashi, he's still his ol' cool, calm self) from the first part to Shipuuden, none have made such a drastic change as sauske,in part one he had a goal, he was driven to destroy a "certain someone"  yet despite the moodiness, and slight emo-ness he still had some likable qualities, you saw him really bond with his team, espcially Naruto, over time and become a trusted ally, however in shippuden, after learning the truth about Itachi, it seems he goes...what's the word? batsh*t crazy and kills anyone without a moment's notice, he's homecidal, cold hearted, cruel and a bit mad, almost nothing of the old Sasuke remains.

so my question is, what do you guys think of the change? is it too drastic? or do you think it just ended in its logical conclusion for the character?

if speed were equal i could see SOME naruto characters winning, but not this particular team, they'd all have to be jonin or higher to stand a chance

Battles » Kakashi vs Karate Kid (DC)

Kakashi should win handily. If were using regular KK he's just a regular human who is insanely good at h2h fighting.
Kakashi should be much faster, has many ways to kill him, and has use of the sharingan to read and react to KK's peak human movements.
Because DC makes their bigwigs job against peak humans (Batman, KK, Deathstroke) means little to me.

Battles » Light Yagami vs. Lelouch Lamperouge

@Destinyheroknight: i dont see how the two worlds can't be mixed, even if the Britannians control Area 11/Japan, Misa could still be a model in it, and have a loyal following, and again, i doubt Lelouch would turn away a willing body to help with the cause, especially one who he knows for sure (or thinks he knows) is on his side, although she doesnt have the level of media control as Diethard does, she still has a huge following, and Lelouch could use that to his advantage (potential allies or rebels)
