Today was the final day of the Butte College Art Festival, and the artwork from ART-35 (Advanced Illustration Class) was up in the art gallery on display. Having some free time in-between classes (I have a 30-minute break between PHO-4 and AUT-10, so I decided to drop by to check it out.

Of the 200+ pictures on display, there were 9 pictures that I could find that were related to anime. The pictures that I took from the event can be found below:

What are your opinions on these works of art, my fellow AnimeVice members?

Today was the 5th Annual Butte College Art Day Festival, which is always held on the 1st Wensday of each May every year. Today, I noticed a wall display case hidden away by the rear-entrance of the Media Center two displays from the Advance Arts Class (which is for those who want to pursue careers as illustrators and animation designers) that contained many different works of anime art.

I took the following pictures and decided to share them with my fellow AnimeVice members. n_n

I was kinda disapointed that there wasn't anymore pictures on display....the majority of the art show was centered around "Sustainibilty for the World". Any of these pictures seem awesome to you?

Welcome, my fellow Animevice members. This is kept as spoiler-free as possible so not to ruin this devilishly-dark take on classic fairy tales. Read on to see!

One of my friends at college mentioned recently this one awesome, twisted version of classic fairy tales that he had seen on Snafu Comic's website by the name of Ever After. At first, I have to admit that I had laughed at him over it, saying that there was no way that something related to old children's fairy tales coll ever be made into a successful comic/manga. Boy was I wrong about it....

I was absolutely stunned when I first tried the Ever After comic...I could have never guessed how awesome a dark, twisted version of classic fairy tales could be when done right. Although it is only 57-pages long (the last page to be uploaded on the site was on the 28th of April, 2008...now over two years ago), this blood-soaked story engages the reader and takes them along for a ride they will wish had never been canceled two years ago. More images taken from this short, gripping comic can be found below along with the link to the site. Ever After started back in 2006 and by the 28th of April, 2008, was 57 pages in length with 10 special "intermission" pages that complied a side-story into the main story.

I highly recommend that all who read this blog at least give this story a try. Who knows....you just might like it too. n_n

A new anime RPG game by the name of Compile Hearts was recently revealed by the staff of the Famitsu site. The game is being published by SEGA, and developed by Nippon Ichi Software. The following quote is taken from the article regarding the reveal of Compile Hearts on Scrawlfx's website.

"Yesterday, new Famitsu scans revealed Compile Heart’s next PlayStation 3 RPG, Neptune. While yesterday we had little information, we know a whole lot more today – thanks to even newer scans that have surfaced. Oddly enough, Sega’s the publisher. Neptune takes place in the universe of Geimugyokai, or the Games Industry, where four different goddesses reign over four separate worlds. The four worlds are Platetume, Rinbox (Xbox 360), Lasdition (PlayStation 3), and Ruwii (Wii) – the goddesses being Purple Heart, Green Heart, Black Heart, and White Heart. The main character, Neptune, is a video game system that transforms into a girl. She’ll need to work together with the goddesses to defeat the evil goddess Majekonnu (a term used to describe DS piracy cards like the R4). At the moment, I’m unsure of whether or not Neptune is the purple heart goddess. Although from the images in the scans and the fact that there’s only one original goddess, that’s what it seems. Neptune wil battle in 3D, with the ability to summon guardian angels from actual games or from pictures in the PlayStation 3 photo library. Players will be able to customize her appearance and combos, as well. Game companies will be present in the game, being represented by individual characters. You can expect Gust, Nippon Ichi Software, etc. The concept of a video game about video games really seems interesting, especially if it’s an RPG. Check out the new scans below."

Here are the scans taken from the Famitsu magazine that were uploaded to Playfire's site.

I personally think that this will be a great game, for it takes the ongoing console wars by the reins and has a story based on the stoppage of game piracy all within a 3D RPG game. Although it has not be determined if Compile Hearts will be released outside of Japan, I am hoping that SEGA will send it to the western market.
