I need to watch the last week's episode. Supreme Marvel's comments just made me more curious.

Mikasa is getting a manga spin-off, I think?

In each manga volume Isayama puts in some comedy fake spoiler pictures. The one you posted is about Mikasa, sorry, "Mikarin" being an idol. I don't know what everything on the page means, but I do believe it does say "Favorite things: Eren" in the profile stuff on the bottom left. There's also a few more of these, like one of Armin tripping on some stairs and smashing his shin and screaming in pain, and Jean's mom catching him doing something personal in his room.

There is pretty much no safe place to discuss this recent episode except for like...here (because there's not a lot of discussion) and Something Awful (because of heavy moderation). It's a dangerous world for the anime-only viewer who wants to remain unspoiled.

Dog & Scissors » Summer 2013 Trailer: Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyo

Haha, I mentioned over in the Giantbomb anime thread that I got the fuck out of this after making it to the end of the opening animation. Will not come back unless everyone starts raving about it a few episodes down the line (unlikely). Plus I have a dachshund and why would I want to watch a show about one, even if it's technically human, getting abused :(

I remember reading a while back that this show was having production issues but this is the first episode where I noticed it. It seemed like entire bits were missing during some of the action scenes. Especially crazy because I believe there was a lot of last minute rescuing but with the missing scenes it felt like characters were randomly there all of the sudden. A few times I wondered if I bumped the fast forward button and missed something.

I hope they can get things back in order soon but I get the feeling things are going to be rough like this for a while. They probably would have been better off just chopping this show in half and taking a one season break after episode 13.

Well next episode is a recap, so that should give them some extra time to work on things. Unfortunately I have a feeling these production issues are probably a cause of both time and managerial issues. If they can't use this to get back into a reasonable rhythm then I suspect the problems might be back within 4 or so episodes. It took 5 episodes before the first big time problem showed up, since episode 5 was aired unfinished in some parts of Japan, but touched up for the rest of the country.

Finally, it got some action. Boy, a lot of folks died protecting Eren. I was surprised they killed off Marco, but what happened to him?

  • Mitabi

Dang, there is a recap episode. Well, I got to do the summary for it.

@rubberluffy:

Oh yeah, that Annie scene was weird. I didn't know what happened. Jean, Annie, Connie, and Marco's scenes are anime exclusive.

Haha holy shit, I'm not even 8 minutes into the episode (crunchyroll) and it's completely obvious this is a rushed out/last minute episode. I had heard they aired an earlier episode incomplete in some areas of Japan (episode 4?), but I think CR got the completed version of that one. But this...the scene around 7 minutes in where Annie rescues Jean is completely not shown. Like, not stylistically, but it just zooms in on her face, she moves a little then it cuts to them all on the roof. Like...what exactly did she do? There's a few other examples (cutting out of an action scene to show a shot of rooftops) and I'm only 1/3rd through the episode.

No wonder there's a recap episode coming. They desperately need any extra time they can get.

edit: There's incomplete art (CGI?) around the 11min mark. Stone bricks that are purple, and some werid green fogginess.

super edit-jin: Episode was much better paced than the previous few. Unfortunately this is definitely one that needs some fixing up for the BD/DVD release. Maybe it already has been for later airings, and CR just got the rushed out early episode?

super edit-jin 2:

Yeah

Despite Keyhole's crappy streaming capabilities, I was able to notice that episode 13 managed to actually have stuff happen! And then more stuff happened! And even a little more!

General Discussion » Jump Stars Victory Versus The Greatest Anime Video Game Ever?

Needs JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters for me to really care. But that may be an issue since NamcoBandai is already putting out JJBA: All Star Battle this year, and -that- is looking to be a great anime/manga licensed game. An excessive amount of care and fanservice is being put into that. I just hope its gameplay stands up.

There's a scene in the newest manga chapter where Eren tries to control his temper in hopes of getting some information. It lasts for a grand total of like 1 page.

General Discussion » Which Anime Do You Say Has The Most Haxx Not Above Planet Busters

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Adaptive evolution+immortality, time stop, time erasing, time acceleration, time looping, alternate universe travel, and that's just the main villains. Even the most mundane sounding abilities (such as Part 6's protag Jolyne's, she can unravel her body like string) can be used in hax ways, such as when she receives a punch from someone who can turn things inside out, she turns the punched part of her body into a mobius strip, completely negating the ability.

This is all before even bringing Gold Experience Requiem into the picture, which essentially makes its user invincible, since anything directed at it is reset to 0.

Off-Topic » JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Trailer 5

So, as I'm sure some of you know, what will immediately become the best anime/manga licensed game (hopefully...) made by the good people at CyberConnect2 (Asura's Wrath, Naruto Ultimate Ninja) will be coming out in Japan at the end of August, and there was a big event the other day to showcase a new trailer that featured some newly announced characters. And thankfully someone quicksubbed it:

Probably my most hyped game of the year, I will definitely be importing it despite not knowing Japanese. There's a slim chance for both a European and American release, but I want to jump on this shit fast.

Another note, this game is pretty much a who's who of famous voice talent, featuring the likes of Paku Romi, Tomokazu Sugita and Miyuki Sawashiro.

@AURON570:

I watched some of the anime and read some of the manga first, actually. I just don't like it. It's essentially Hot Topic The Anime I'm just kidding...maybe? :P

I'm glad that Hunter x Hunter had two really good episodes to counter my feelings regarding Titan 9&10. Hopefully Titan gets back in form for the re-taking of Trost, so I can have my hour of awesome shounen saturday nights again. And I hope JoJo comes back when Titan finishes up.

@rubberluffy: I'm hoping that's because you already read the manga for Death Note, otherwise you would be missing out by not watching Death Note in its entirety.

Episode 9 and 10 was nice. I'm glad they're introducing some new characters from the Survey Corps, good contrast with the trainees we've gotten used to seeing so far. Hmm yeah that whole negotiation scene in 10 did feel really long. It felt kind of arbitrary when Eren was like "Armin.. I'll let you decide", but I think it paid off with Armin's speech... It almost made me cry, good job on the voice actress for that part. I'm glad they included the bit with Eren, his father and the key, gives us something to wonder about. What secrets could his father possibly have hidden?

I had a flashback of Deadman Wonderland when Eren bit his finger and used his blood to create that skeleton/Titan. Both anime deal with similar themes I suppose.

I've watched the first two DN live-action movies, didn't really care for them, but also didn't like what I read of the manga/watched of the anime. Not for me.

10 was really drawn out. I think it was only 40 pages adapted, so probably just under a whole chapter. 1.5 chapters:1 episode seems to be the the ideal pace for a monthly manga anime adaptation. Doesn't help that it's mostly words words words and not really an interesting chapter in the first place. Really, 9 and 10 should have been compressed to about 1 and a 1/4-to-1/2 episodes.

I've got some problems with the pacing of 9 and 10, because they both feel like they drag on. Kind of a holdover from the manga chapters, though. They could have easily fit both episodes into about 1 1/2 and started up the efforts to retake Trost in the remaining time.

edit: okay some people across the internets are ragging on this episode -really- hard, and it's difficult to not feel defensive about a series I love, but my hopes for the anime feel considerably lowered after 9+10, not to mention 14 is gonna be a recap episode. I really hope Wit can get out of this hole they're in, both pacing-wise and budget-wise. I never watched more than 7 episodes of Death Note, and I never even bothered with Guilty Crown, so I have no idea what expectations I should place on director Araki with Titan.

It's speculation on my part, based on her almost superhuman strength coupled with the doctor testing stuff on his own son, and visiting that specific family. Dude clearly knows more than he let on.

No worries, it's a discussion. I'm glad to keep the connections alive. I was going to comment on Mikasa's so called amnesiac child assassin on Tom's Watch and Learn. I don't agree with those guys.

Regarding the art, I seen those complaints. The art is unique because the facial expressions really make the manga come alive.

Yeah, she's not an amnesiac child assassin. She's a broken girl who overcompensated (maybe with an extra push...I'm looking at you, suspicious Dr. Jaeger) into a complete monster.

Cool, I'm reading the manga alongside with the anime. How are you digging the art?

I know it's not directed at me, but I love the art. I've seen a LOT of complaints about it, and sure, it does look very amateurish, especially in the beginning, but I think it helps it. It's a fucked up, weird world of horror, and the art helps convey that. Plus the Titan art and action scenes are amazing. A real good sense of movement/impacts.

Unfortunately the manga is still in "questions" mode, as of the most recent chapter 45, although it's looking like 46 is gonna be a big answer chapter. With the pacing and episode count, and the fact that the anime is weekly while the manga is monthly, I'm a bit nervous how it's gonna be. If they decide to cliffhanger it and go for a second season, it'd have to be in a while to let manga get ahead a lot. It's not like FMAB where the manga was in clear endgame territory before the anime started airing.

Wit has done a pretty good job with it so far, production issues notwithstanding. But I think an anime-original ending could prove disastrous, and I'm not even talking about how they write it.

Also episode 9 introduced Hanji, so all is good so far. Hanji da best.

Haha boy was I wrong. More questions than answers. But 46 has some great character interactions. Even the Hulk would be like "damn that kid should relax" in regards to Eren.
