One of the shortest series of the bunch weighing in at only six episodes half hour episodes. The time invested in this is minimal, but it is packed with eccentrically cool animation. The story is about a young teenage boy, Naota Nandaba, life is turned upside down when a mysterious vespa-riding woman (Haruko Haruhara) attacks him with her guitar. Poor Naota is forced to share his life with an alien, a grumpy robot, and the uncontrollable older brother's girlfriend he had left behind. There is a lot of influences from other Gainex titles written into the episodes like His and Her Circumstances, Neon Genesis: Evangelion and lets not forget the famous Daicon IV short. The music and surreal action puts you on the edge of your seat as cheering for more. This series is the essence of youth and pure fun. I hold this series closest to my heart.
2. Soul Eater
Soul Eater is an anime based on the manga by Atsushi Okhubo. It follows the adventures of Maka Albarn and her scythe weapon Soul Eater Evans (known as just Soul), Black Star and his demon ninja weapon Tsubaki, and Death the Kid and his twin gun weapons Liz and Patti Thompson. Being students at Shibusen, a school founded by Shinigami-sama to train meisters and weapons, they are in a constant struggle with the powers of evil. The goal of each meister/weapon team is to acquire 99 kishin eggs (evil souls) and 1 witch's soul. Upon fulfilling these requirements, the weapon is transformed into a Death Scythe, one of Shinigami-sama's personal weapons. This series had finished airing with only being 51 episodes long with a spectacular finish. The series is best described to be like Bleach and a little of Naruto. While watching this, I thought the story and concept began to take shape of its own. This series was very refreshing and fun, an easy recommend to anyone.
