RedRoses

So I was planning to go to my Senior Prom with a bunch of my gal pals in a limo (insert "All the Single Ladies" here) but I got asked today by my guy friend in such a cliche, cute, dorkyway. Why would I blog about it? It's quite adorable and it (just) slightly involves Gurren Lagann.

So I am a teaching assistant in my first period class. I saw a red rose on the bookshelf but that's all I saw. I asked my teacher why he had it and he just told me he wanted a rose for fun. I shrugged it off. Once class started, the teacher got up, grabbed the rose, and said that he has this rose and note for me. He also jokingly asked me to go to Prom with him and I dutifully said yes haha.
The note had Yoko on it with a personal message about me that mildly relates to Yoko. Insert d'aww dorky moment here, I'm already pretty darn sure who it was but at least I'll go along with whatever is happening. I did smile a bit but I get embarassed quite easily so I hide it off by grading papers like a boring person.

Every period after that, I would get a rose and a note from someone I knew. Lessee... the other notes I got had in order had Kamina (hell yeah awesome and it had my favorite picture of him that I have below), Gurren Lagann (...haha note made me lol literally), and Simon with Boota (d'aww awesome). They were cute notes though some of them I wonder what the hell he was thinking hahaha. My favorite note had to be the Simon one but I liked them all in their own cutesy way. I would share the notes but I might horrible embarrass him for life (and people I know IRL can find me here quite easily, I'd rather spare him and only share the notes with my gal pals that ask).

Despite having this cute set up, he didn't do much during lunch. He just went to me and asked if I wanted to go with him (well not as blunt as that but I digress). I thought he would ask a bit more cornier but I'm glad he didn't do something huge or else I'd be more embarrassed than I already am.

Normally I'm not the type to like gushy stuff but holy crap even I was smiling all day today (secretly~ well it's not so secretly once I say it here isn't it?) and was looking forward to each little note I would get. Of course, I don't really show it since I'm not the type usually to fall for something so cliche but dammit I'm a girl and it's bloody cute. I think it's all the Gurren Lagann references (hyuh hyuh clever man to chose something I love so much!). It was quite annoying to get bombarded by my gal pals though... especially the ones who say "OMG!" or make such a big deal out of it. Seriously. It's just Senior Prom.

Extra Internet cookie for him: He chose red roses on purpose (or I'd like to think so, crap I forgot what he told me when I asked him). Can you guess?
Ever since my Neopets days (good lord that was the funnest thing ever in elementary school), I've used some iteration of "redroses" in my username. Even after ten (or more?) years of Internet usage, I have always stuck with redroses (or redroses and some numbers tackled on it). I was listening to "What a Wonderful World" when I was deciding my username on Neopets and I heard the phrase "I see trees of green... red roses too" and just stuck with that as my username. Ever since then, I've been uncreative and stuck with it.


I did pick a Prom dress before getting asked actually since I said I was going regardless of having a date or not. In one of the podcast episodes with Moonstorm and Lunarmoth, I mentioned that I was shopping for one. I ended up picking this one:

So for those that don't know (and I'm not a lolita expert but hey whatever I can give a general description), the style here is waloli which means it has Japanese influence to it. You can obviously see that in the top part of the dress. The reason why I decided to even pick a loli dress online was because I didn't want to get a boring, satin (SATAN!) dress that every gal will have from Macy's. Even if this isn't as formal as it should be, I don't care. It's my dress and people will have to deal with it.

Hey guy that asked me if you ever see this blog entry: I can't wait to go shopping for a matching tie and stuff to my dress hyuh hyuh hyuh. It's gonna turn into a normal shopping day for me probably haha. Sucks to be you; you'll probably be holding bags for me. I'm so mean =]

Holy tequito I sound so lame in this blog entry. I sound so... girly. Eww. Well I'm not gonna edit this since it's how I reacted. Go me.

tl;dr: Asking me to Senior Prom with Gurren Lagann induced notes and red roses made me say yes. Well the guy isn't half bad either hahaha. I kid.
