RPG » What would your character do....

Fight it, of course!
Daisuke would first use Rho Aias to block Sahaquiel's energy beam. Meanwhile he would use his structural scan to analyze the enemy's body. After Daisuke had neutralized the enemy's attack he would turn his Reinforcements to overdrive and use the Shield Breaker technique with Durandal to smash Sahaquiel's core to pieces.

What would your current character do he/she meets your pre-reboot character?
Would they get along? Or perhaps it would result in a fight?

@Kuro_San: I'm in similar shoes.

Aside from Daisuke and maybe Kaine I don't think I could be friends with any of my characters.

Sol. Technical advancement made ARC System Work's music sound a bit artificial. On the other hand, Keep Yourself Alive II has that real drums and bass feeling, even though it's slightly lacking in terms of variation.

I'm going with Sol.

Duel at No Man's Land - Part 3: Volatile Exchange

Series of violent explosions shook the peaceful neighborhood. In a mere instant the entire gas station and its surroundings blew up, engulfing everything in a ball of fire. Of course Daisuke had been caught within the reach of such inferno. "Kih-!" The boy hissed. Waves of intense heat and vibrations flew past him. Fortunately without any serious effect. Daisuke covered himself in his protective overcoat that he only referred as the 'Combat Jacket'. Woven with the combination of many different layers, it was both protective cloth and an exquisite piece of tailorship. Using a blessed burial cloth as a base, it sealed away most forms of magic interference against Daisuke. The middle was a strong fabric of Kevlar, enough to stop a rifle bullet dead on its tracks. In comparison the  top layer served no purpose other than hiding the true details behind this masterpiece, disguising it as a simple overcoat commonly found in the stores. Furthermore Daisuke used his magic to reinforce the 'Combat Jacket', allowing him to survive in the midst of an explosion.

As quickly as it came, the force of the explosion dissipated under a split-second. The series of blast left a large scar on the site. The entire gas station had disappeared without any remains. Daisuke expressed regret over destroying public property but the ends had to justify the means. But it didn't. The young magus easily picked up the enemy's life signature. "Damn it!" Feeling of bitterness and frustration. Despite all that destruction, his opponent was still alive and kicking. The enemy was calmly emerging from his smoke. Even his barely visible silhouette possessed that awful aura of nil. Daisuke couldn't stand that part about the man. It was like all worries in the world couldn't bother that man the slightest bit. His emotions and character were a complete mystery. Almost like Daisuke was fighting against a machine.All of sudden, the enemy assumed a new stance. He looked almost like an Olympic runner before the championship match. "!!" In the next moment the enemy's body became a blur. (He's fast!) Taken a little aback by the opponent's speed, Daisuke had a hard time to perceive the enemy's movements. Despite that he had already knew what was going to happen next. "Darian Gwalchavad!" The magus had called out to summon the shield of Sir Galahad again. This time to block a mixed volley of bullets and particle beam bursts. Hiding behind a shield was a cowardly tactic, Daisuke knew that. But momentarily he needed every bit of time to devise an effective strategy. Impossible as it seemed, the enemy managed to outsmart Daisuke who could boast the ability to think under the effects of the space-time accelerated many-fold.

A combined volley of particle beams and gunshots impacted against the shield but apparently without any visible effect. Replica or not, Darian Gwalchavad was a mystic shield famous for its durability. No mere guns could penetrate it. Seeing the futility of the volley, the enemy had a quick change of tactics. Using feints and daring turns, the opponent was circling around Daisuke like a hungry shark. He was sending short bursts from various directions to test Daisuke's defenses. So far without any success. Despite that Daisuke was well aware that he ended up in a losing battle. Darian Gwalchavad offered excellent protection but at a great cost. Daisuke had to sacrifice any option for offense. The opposing volley was so intense that the young magus found no opportunity for a counterattack.  Meanwhile the enemy was rapidly closing in.

In seconds the distance between the man and Daisuke were reduced to only a few meters. "Huh?" At the same moment the enemy had just disappeared. Daisuke felt a sharp piercing feeling on the back of his neck. "!!" Daisuke made an immediate turn to intercept another stream of projectiles. Apparently, his enemy simply vaulted over Daisuke with a large leap and attempted to shoot the youth from behind. But that was far from the end. Daisuke noticed two strange objects over his head. (Oh crap!) Their shape were slightly odd but Daisuke immediately recognized the purpose of these. That was a pair of explosive grenades!

BOOM! Echoed the sound of twin explosions. Being smart, by the time of the detonation the enemy had already escaped the blast radius. On the other hand Daisuke wasn't that fortunate.  The fireball of the explosion had swallowed him up entirely. Daisuke's death was almost certain. Yet...

Before the fireball could finally settle, a pair of foreign objects cut through the screen of smoke and explosions. These were spinning like a pair of deadly circular saws, flying towards the general direction of Falken.  And they weren't alone. With only a slight delay two additional blades were flying against Falken. Their design was familiar to something the mercenary saw a while ago. Yes, 3 sets of Kanshous and Bakuyas were flying at supersonic speeds to catch him. Given the weapons' identity that could mean only one thing...

Finally, the fireball had cleared up thus revealing the figure of a young boy. Indeed. Daisuke had managed to survive. But how? Sound of clamping could be heard as something heavy and metallic landed behind the youth. It was no mere shield but Darian Gwalchavad. Feeling the immediate danger, the legendary shield of Sir Galahad forced Daisuke to move thus he had managed to block away the explosion in the very last minute. Albeit only through sheer luck but the youth managed to survive the mercenary's trap in one piece. The smoke slowly began to clear, revealing Daisuke's face. His eyes were burning with  "My name is Emiya Daisuke, Japanese. I'm here to investigate a strange cult in the vicinity. You aren't just the run of the mill gun for hire. Who are you? And why did you kill all the innocents in Lukevile?" Out of the blue Daisuke suddenly introduced himself. The exotic weapons and skills of the mercenary made him intrigued. It was a bit embarrassing but Daisuke had to admit that his enemy was far more experienced in the art of warfare. Be it tactics, ranged combat or even close quarters combat the enemy always managed to maintain his superiority. And those guns...they were far above the ordinary. Daisuke was familiar with the term of the so-called 'super technology', devices created by highly advanced science. They are Humanity's answer against the growing number of 'super beings'.  The enemy's weapons were the same. They weren't connected to any of the known manufacturers. Likely every weapon of his were a product of some secret organization.

Having discerned for all those, Daisuke was prepared for the worst. (Limiter---OFF. Trace inhibitions cancelled. Setting all circuits to maximum!) "I am the bone of my sword!" The youth had exclaimed and released a powerful aura. Each and every one of his circuits were producing magic energy on full throttle. Playtime was over. Daisuke's enemy was someone not to be taken lightly. "Kanshou! Bakuya!" The youth had called, summoning his two most trustworthy swords. He crossed the blades before his chest, ready to intercept the incoming gunshots.

RPG » if your character had no powers what would he/she be?

Without his powers Daisuke has several possibilities for his profession:

  • Car mechanic - Daisuke was always interested in machines
  • Cook - Preferably in a small Japanese restaurant. Again, it has something to do with Daisuke's interest
  • Archer - Daisuke had quite some knack for bows. So if he had pursued his hobby for longer he might become a national champion
  • Mercenary/Soldier - Daisuke isn't someone who would turn his head away when people are in danger. If there would be a great war, Daisuke would surely enlist as a soldier or otherwise find his way to the battlefield.
  • War relief aid transporter - On the same trail of thought Daisuke has a burning desire to help people in need. As such he would eagerly volunteer for jobs that could help the unfortunate victims of a war's aftermath. Same about the starving and the poor.

The basic concept was good but KurayamiR should've focused on Beatrice more as she has more useful scenes to this kind of song. There were also certain problems with the synch and the overall feeling but otherwise it wasn't bad.

@Fehafare: The ironic part is that it's the exact thing I'm doing right now.

Pulling out vids from my playlists.

The AMV's set-up was good but nothing outstanding. Also it had a few problems with the synch.

Sadly, it was under the "pick your favorite series and put some music under it" category. It would've been pretty good in 2003 but nowadays the competition is just too strong.

Next, a Gundam 00 themed AMV:

@Kuma_From_Argentina:

  • Except that there was no mention that Falken would shoot right after he threw the bottle. Actually, he threw the bottle in hopes of distracting Daisuke. Which didn't happen. Indeed, you mentioned that Falken quickly brought out his weapons but there was a certain space where I could insert that short line. If you're fed up with something that small then it's your problem. It was a must to avoid the RP to turn bland. Remember, talking is (realtively) free action. Exactly for that purpose. I can change that part though, since apparently I have to rewrite my entire post anyways.
  • I love how you didn't try to refute my point about bars could be potentially found within the extended territory of gas stations. Anyways, I am going to change that part as well because it obviously benefits both my character and yours. I only realized after preparing for Daisuke's second post that I accidentally picked the worst possible place for a battleground. So I tried to have the best use of my misfortune.

@Kuma_From_Argentina:

  • I still don't get how does it go for my benefit. Daisuke was still surprised for the sudden appearance of Falken's weapons. Falken was still the first to initialize his attack. And Falken still unleashed his explosive glove attack the moment after he used his shotgun. Daisuke gained nothing, aside from additional "conversation". Exactly where did I get any sort of advantage?
  • Alright
  • I see. I didn't know that from the description you left in Falken's bio. Anyways, that small part makes little change. Like I said it was for dramatic effect. Who knows? Maybe the booming sound was because of the massive heat forced the surrounding air to rapidly expand. Heat explosion. They also produce vibrations.
  • Like I said certain gas stations also have a bar nearby. Although that part is something I'm the most willing to change. Given that fighting in a gas station put Daisuke into severe disadvantage and actually caused me a good deal of headaches.

@Fehafare: That was the first time someone complained to me about an AMV being too flashy.:p

Seriously, that's like half of the intention for these vids.Especially for action-oriented AMVs like the one I previously posted.

You have to be extra careful to catch all the details.

Although if you'd have said that the effects can distract from the visuals then I have to agree.

The point was more on the AMV's feeling, though.

Anyways, back to rating:

9/10

I don't even have to watch the video, I know that MAD well enough and I've watched it a good number of times in the past already. The music matches the visuals very well. Although I feel like that the song itself is which ultimately limits that vid from getting the score of 10. Not as if it's bad. No. But it limits the MAD's overall potential.

Now, that's what I call excellent job with cuts.

RPG » CMD Part 2: Revenge of the Numbers OCC

@Kuma_From_Argentina: Well:

  • Your strategy was built on Daisuke being distracted by the bottle. It didn't happen for reasons I described in the RP. So there was a tailor-made change in the scene.
  • I see. I theorized that the gauntlet still produced a shockwave-like effect, given you said the vibrations would disorient Daisuke.Still, there's barely anything that it changes.
  • The attack has enough kinetic energy to rip an entire MBT to shreds. Of course it has enough force to send vibrations echoing through the air. Especially given if it impacts with something strong enough to completely stop the projectiles. Besides, that was only for dramatic effect. I don't get why are you picky about it. There's exactly zero gain from the thing if I change it.
  • I already said in my first post that Daisuke stopped at the fuel station. He noticed Falken's presence after he stepped off the motorbike. As such unless Falken greeted Daisuke from like 30-50 meters, he's very likely at the fuel station. It's not uncommon for a more sophisticated fuel station to have its own bar stop for thirsty drivers.

Although, if you have problems with any of these, I can change them.

The video itself is good but like with my previous AMV it suffers from the shift effect between two anime series with different (even if similar) visuals.

It can be adjusted with the right effects but it goes without saying that it's a difficult task.

There was some problems with the synch between the chosen visuals and the sounds as well but those weren't that severe.

Duel in No Man's Land - Part 1: Deadly Meeting

Daisuke was alert. The experienced a similar feeling many times. The gas station had a thick stench of death. It didn't have anything to do with smell. Going by his five senses, Daisuke didn't feel anything out of the ordinary. But being a magus, Daisuke could experience things that are beyond the five senses. What Daisuke felt was something incomprehensible by logic. But if Daisuke really wanted to explain, it was like a sixth sense. Daisuke felt an unusual aura. The coldness of death. The feeling of loss that would remain after one's soul exits the body. But there was more. Like a dagger tensed against his throat, Daisuke sensed a strong killing intent. Whoever murdered the people at the gas station was still nearby. Furthermore that man chose Daisuke as his next target. Despite the red-haired magus had yet to gather any concrete evidence, he had already knew that his life was in grave danger. He had yet to see his enemy but Daisuke knew he was going to enter combat. As such he had no reason to hesitate. (Trace---ON!) He silently murmured as he let the magic energy flow freely within his system. Reinforcements, a magic used to enhance raw materials was applied to Daisuke's flesh and bones thus giving him superhuman powers. Even though Daisuke had yet to see his opponent, he had felt that the enemy was strong. He was someone not to be taken lightly. So Daisuke took the required preparations to meet such an opponent.

Daisuke didn't have to wait for long. His enemy revealed himself much sooner than expected. He was a man barely past his 30s. Yet his eyes showed experience beyond his age. He was a veteran combatant who had to fight through his entire life. That was Daisuke's first impression of the man standing before him. The man's outfit also implied professional military background. Although his gear was too unique and it didn't match with any of the existing military branches. As such he was a living mystery. A man without anything to pin down . A very dangerous existence. "Hello kiddo, welcome to this town! Current population 2." The man said it like a greeting, with an attitude totally improper to the weight of his crime. Daisuke had to grit his teeth to contain his anger. His enemy just made an indirect confession about the massacre of the entire population of Lukevile. Despite that the man wore a nonchalant smile, like it was nothing just an entertaining game. That cold and careless attitude pissed off Daisuke to no end. But he had to be in control. Otherwise he would be just playing to the enemy's hands. "Do you want some Vodka?" The man showed a bottle of liquor to Daisuke. The next moment he sent the bottle flying against Daisuke's lap. But the red-haired boy didn't move. His eyes remained fixed on his enemy. The bottle impacted with Daisuke's leg and broke in half, spewing all of its contents on the youth's trousers. But Daisuke didn't care. He was so angry he even forgot to feel any pain.  "No thanks." Yet the youth's voice remained calm, even a bit cold. Daisuke turned his anger into sheer killing intent, not losing his focus on the enemy.

Seeing Daisuke's reaction, the enemy just released a small shrug. In the next moment he had a pair of weapons appearing in his arms. "!!" Daisuke was surprised, not expecting that his enemy could summon weapons out of the thin air. In the enemy's right hand was a bulky gun while his left was covered in an armored glove. And that was the time Daisuke had realized a grave error in his strategy. Yes, he was fighting in the middle of a gas station. A strait gunshot could likely blow up the entire place in an instant. BANG! Unfortunately though, Daisuke had no time to rethink his strategy. Without the slightest hint of hesitation the enemy pulled the trigger, shooting out a spray of molten shrapnel at the direction of Daisuke. Parrying each projectile was impossible and dodging the attack was definitely a bad idea. No matter what option he chose, all of Daisuke's attempts were looking futile. He could either die or die by the gas explosion. There was nothing in-between. Unless...

Loud booming sound. That gunshot was far from ordinary. The force which was strong enough to devastate battle tanks sent vibrations through the air. "Heh...not bad." Yet the thing that followed up the scene was even more shocking. Daisuke Emiya was alive. Neither he nor the gas station had suffered any damage. There was a foreign object between Daisuke and the enemy's line of fire. It was a shield, ornate in design, engraved with various texts in a forgotten language. Darian Gwalchavad, the shield of the legendary Arthurian era knight, Sir Galahad. Forged by best Eastern smiths, combined with ancient oriental sorcery, it was a mystic shield that could never break. Although unfortunately Daisuke never saw the real thing. The shield he had created was only a poor replica, barely 10% of the original's quality. Due to the shield's swallow mystic power, it only narrowly withstood the the opposing attack. The shield was bent in weird dimensions and Daisuke felt a strange feeling of numbness in his arms. He had barely made it.

Of course the enemy had no time to be surprised. Unshaken by the fact Daisuke had survived, the man had already launched his next attack. This time against the ground. The man's gauntlet hit the hard surface and released an explosive shockwave. Being too occupied with the previous attack, Daisuke had no time to react. The blastwave caught him on the wrong feet and sent him flying. Fortunately, the explosion was relatively weak so the gas station didn't blew up. Albeit deteriorated the shield also managed to absorb the majority of the shockwave, saving the red-haired hero. Although the blast spewed up large quantities of dust, blocking the visibility. Aware of the situation, Daisuke quickly let go of Darian Gwalchavad which immediately disappeared. Instead he summoned his two favored swords, Kanshou and Bakuya. Daisuke knew what to do. In order to avoid getting caught by an ambush he had to escape the dust cloud at once. Otherwise the enemy may use it as a screen to hide his movements. Besides, Daisuke had to get away from the gas station as soon as possible. His situation was similar to sitting atop of a barrel of gunpowder. While his enemy had flaming arrows. To avoid the most unfavorable outcome the red-haired magus made hasty retreat from the site. He knew that such a reckless move may provoke a similar counterattack but it was still 10 times better than getting casually blew up by a strait gunshot.

With nimble movements Daisuke quickly hopped up from the surface then performed a daring backflip. "!!" Perhaps, that was the time Daisuke's enemy was waiting for. A stream of bright projectiles cut through the smoke. Being still in the air, Daisuke was out of options to dodge. Instead he crossed his swords to block the incoming storm. Kanshou and Bakuya had special enhancements to repel foreign energy. Apparently, it worked not just on magic. The particle beams were getting reflected off the sword's surface. On the other hand the bullets caused more headache. Daisuke had to grip Kanshou and Bakuya strongly to off-set the force of the incoming projectiles. With a hint of miracle, Daisuke had made it to the ground unscratched. Right after he landed, the boy took a quick jump to the off side to avoid the weapons' line of fire and position himself behind a large container. Given the force of the enemy's guns, Daisuke had no doubt that the container would only prove as a temporally cover at best.

But that was all that Daisuke really needed. The twin swords had disappeared from the youth's hands. Instead, he summoned a black compound bow. (Time for counterattack!) Thought Daisuke and ran off to the other side of the container. His bowstring was at the ready while his right hand was holding the end of a strangely shaped arrow. While performing a long jump the youth released the string, sending the arrow on its deadly path.. Daisuke couldn't see his enemy yet he had a definite target. It was one of the gas tanks. Triggering one of those could easily set-off a chain of explosions. Especially since Daisuke's arrows were far from normal. They were mystical blades transformed into the aerodynamic shape of an arrow. The projectile that left Daisuke's black bow flew at supersonic speeds and possessed the force comparable to a tank shell.

Despite Daisuke was afar, the force of the series of explosions could still get him. Soon after he landed, Daisuke covered himself in his large overcoat. The coat was made of a special fabric of Kevlar, reinforced with various minor enchantments. That alone was strong enough to stop most forms of small arms fire. In addition Daisuke was an expert in Reinforcement magic. Combining the unique fabric with youth's magic could protect Daisuke from even grenade exploding nearby. In short Daisuke was prepared to take the blast. His enemy on the other hand might be in far more trouble.
