@Lurkero: Haha! I donate what little wit I have freely. You know, I can't remember if it was an OTAKU COMING HOME that I wrote or that @AlexEL did, but at some point in the comments the discussion came up that, back in the day, less was more as far as domestic selection. While a lot of great shows/books were relegated to fansub/scanlations, it was also easier to suss out the ...

@Marshal Victory: Right, that's what I was saying. This happens more often than I'm sure showrunners and writers would like, thanks to network screw-ups, be they intentional on somebody's part or not. But, for instance, on the DVD release of FIREFLY you don't have the option to watch the show in "Screwed Up For No Reason" order. Ditto for VENTURE BROS., whose first season aired totally out of order (not ...

@buhssuht: Ugh, yeah. It's a shame, too. There really was potential in this premise! Ah well...@Marshal Victory: The thing that threw me off here about the "broadcast order" option was that it was an included feature on the DVD. I don't think I've ever seen that on a release where the series order wasn't intentionally different from the episode chronology for story reasons. I mean, honestly, why include it as ...

@sickVisionz: Yessir, Kinokuniya is pretty rad. You're paying a pretty steep price for ready access to these things (particularly the imports), but how often do you get to browse these things legitimately?Speaking of legitimate though, I do understand the argument of bootleg pressing vs. bootleg download, and there's a discussion to be had about both, I think. "Back in my day," bootlegs were the only way to see a large ...

@Marshal Victory: I hear you! Much as I'd like to shun the internet as something that's ruined most of the surprise/thrill of the hunt, it's been a HUGE factor in allowing fans in all areas to partake in nerdy shopping. Good sites!@buhssuht: Hahaha! Yeah, it's nice to have some of these things so close to home. I live about an hour north of the city though, and plan to move ...

@sickVisionz: As a kid, my friends and I tended to play multiplayer games together even though, separately, we would play RPGs, so I totally get that. At some point in my teens we started pulling that together by passing the controller, helping solve puzzles, and generally nerding out about the worlds, characters, and stories. Somehow, that's what stuck when I became an adult. I can tell you about the epic ...

To @Petiew, @Destinyheroknight, @YotaruVegeta, @Donwun,@jj_jackson - cheers on the original DRAGONBALL love! DBZ will always have a place in my heart, and there's lots that I still dig about it, but I know I could never sit through the whole series again (and KAI, to me, was just a bad idea).DRAGONBALL, on the other hand... I could watch that for days still. And the manga is absolutely gorgeous. Also, special props ...

@zaldar: So, a few problems here:1) Like @EamonBDoc said, it's a visual medium. Period. Without the "unimportant" art, it doesn't exist. That you'd consider art so low on your list of priorities is a bit puzzling to me, but it's unfortunately common amongst anime fandom, where liking concepts trumps quality and talent. If this were an article about the cover of a novel being more important than the story within, ...

@Acura_Max: Yeah, EATAKU is awesome. And since C.B. gets all over the country, and the world, for work, odds are you'll find some amazing things on there that you can enjoy in your travels (or, if you're lucky, your own backyard!).@Marshal Victory: Haha! I'm curious - what wouldn't you try on here? I can be a pretty picky eater on U.S. soil, and there are some things that I actively ...

@Eyz: Yeah, confusing is it. I'm sort of hoping that I saw some kind of cut version, as they'll sometimes cut for time/content on these flights, but the few films I came across like that were clearly documented as such with a note at the start of the flick. Plus, even without the plot holes, the whole thing just felt sloppy anyway.Like @EamonBDoc said, it really just felt like a ...

@Marshal Victory: Funny enough, they ARE planning more. That's why I'm totally confused as to why they didn't save some material for later. I'll tune in for the next flick, but now I know that my hopes shouldn't be too high.@rubberluffy: Yeah, it was a big disappointment for me. It may have been a looooooong time since I sat down with any of the source material (again, save the TRUST ...

@EamonBDoc:That comic shop WAS awesome. Definitely a great idea - if domestic comic shops took the same approach to engaging customers with dynamic displays, they might do a sight better. I'd certainly be more interested in having a look around. And for your shopping list, Book-Off would have been heaven for you. A bunch of different locations, and they deal in used books (great condition, most of 'em). You would've left ...

@AURON570:Not sure yet... I'd like to get them up somewhere, but there's seriously just over 4000 pics. We're still sorting through them and clearing out the duplicates, blurry shots, etc.Hopefully we can wrap that up before the end of the year, but reality keeps stopping us from falling into the glorious illusion that we're still in Japan.

@AlexEL:That was the weird thing - outside of Akihabara there really weren't any non-chain stores to be found. At least, not that we saw... I'm sure they're out there, though. Lot's of Tsutayas and Book-Offs, but only one notable hole-in-the-wall shop otherwise (which didn't have any great secrets hidden in its wares but DID have better prices on used video games).Credit where it's due though, those chain stores outside of ...

Batman is Anime, and Zelda's an RPG. These are a few of the most dumbest (sic) things.
