@Newdeath:  Hate Baseball? I didn't know it was possible to use those two words together without the words "do not" before it.

I love baseball. I played it through high school, until I got injured and had to stop. I guess that's why AnimeVice has an unnecessarily detailed baseball concept page. Which reminds me that I still need to finish working on it.

General Discussion » Oldest anime/manga you've watched/read?

I forgot about manga. I think the oldest manga I've read was Touch by Mitsuru Adachi. It began sometime in the early 80s.

@Makoto_Mizuhara_Sakamoto said:
Okay, how about this- the oldest movie (AND I MEAN MOVIE) is the classic 1922 silent B&W picture Nosferatu. Try beating a nearly 90-year-old picture, buddy. "
I've got you beat there. The Busher, a baseball movie from 1919.

The oldest I've seen would be Astro Boy. If you've never watched any Astro Boy before, you should. Even after all these years, it's still very entertaining.

@cfatalis:  There is some structure. Since I got a degree in Political Science, roughly a third of my classes had to be specific political science classes. Another third were general studies classes, which include basic math, English, and science classes. And the final third were general electives, where I could take almost anything I wanted. Most of my elective classes were on various international topics, which got me a certificate in International Studies.

@cfatalis:  That is pretty different than here. Here, most classes are about 3 credits. A few classes, like science classes are often 4, and my Japanese classes were 5 credits. For my undergraduate work I had to get 120 credits to graduate. The graduate degree is only about a quarter as long, but the classes are more specialized and require more work.

@cfatalis:  Yeah, it's pretty quick. It's 33 credits and consists of 11 courses, 10 regular courses and a capstone which is the thesis project.

@cfatalis:  Thankfully, much sooner than that. The Masters should take about 2 years. Maybe less than that, depending on what classes are available. At the end I have the option of doing a thesis or an examination. I will be doing the thesis, since I enjoy writing.

Koshien Stadium is properly called Hanshin Koshien Stadium. It is commonly called Koshien Stadium, so that could stay as an alias.

I have a BA in Political Science, and I am currently working on my Masters. I'm only about a semester in, so I still have a while until I will be done.

Off-Topic » Why is there no coverage on the disaster in Japan?

What would be the point in devoting a large block of time to talk about it? Once you've reported the facts, there isn't much else to talk about unless you want to belabor the point out needlessly. Even in Japan they aren't doing this. When the events first happened, the news talked about it all day long, but after a while television went back to normal. It's good to report it, but there is little point in dwelling on it unnecessarily.

@SamJaz: The problem with news in America, is that if the story does not get them ratings, then it's not worth reporting. They look for stories that they can sensationalize in order to get people to tune in. If there is something important happening, but it is generally boring, they will either not report it or just mention it in passing before moving on to some story that involves dozens of deaths or children.

General Discussion » who is your favorite Male and Female Anime Character?

My favorite female character is definitely Kino from Kino no Tabi. No matter what situation she finds herself in, she is cool, calm, and collected. There are other little things that I like about her also, but it's hard to explain if you haven't seen the series or read the novels.
This isn't the clip I wanted to show, but unfortunately there aren't many clips on Youtube or elsewhere.

Honorable Mention: Ryoko Okami from Okami-san, Kawazoe Tamaki from Bamboo Blade, and Index from A Certain Magical Index.

Male is a little harder. I can think of many good male characters, but it is hard to pick one that I consider a favorite. I feel like I'm forgetting someone obvious, but the two that keep coming to mind are Lupin the 3rd and Free from Soul Eater. Both characters are somewhat similar. Both have their eccentricities, but both are very skilled at what they do. I will have to think more though, because I feel I'm forgetting someone.

I removed them for you. Not sure why it wasn't working though. You might want to mention it in the Bug Reporting forum if you are having problems.

General Discussion » Is it ok to pirate if it's the only way to get it?

@Nanashi:  That's hardly giving back. You are already down due to not paying for something that you should pay for, so paying for something that you should pay for doesn't make you equal. Unless you decide to pay double what it costs, it isn't returning you to zero. If you want to pirate, that's fine. I've done it before and I'm sure most of the people on this site have done it at least once, but you shouldn't look at a purchase as doing someone a favor.

Off-Topic » The best parody

Pretty much every episode of Excel Saga is a parody or satire of something. Your favorite show, Puni Puni Poemi, has plenty as well. I guess that's to be expected, though, since it's from the same people that did Excel Saga.

There are a lot of Super Sentai parodies as well. Negima, Bamboo Blade, Excel Saga, and others.
