15 was pretty good. The executioners were really getting old. Sinner this an sinner that /bleh.
@takashichea: I would argue whats inhibited the growth of the anime industry is the anime industry. From not wanting shows subtitled to over priced dvd / bluerays. To breaking a season down for multiple release for more money. An then leaving money on the table for shows that are famous the world over. Their own business models are not world market based or but based on their own market. Failure to adapt opens the doors for others to make money where they chose not to.
Good example would be Detective Conan. Funamation holds the North America rights so fan subs are being hit with legal notice. Yet Funamation does not fill the void with subtitles on their own. Oddly Kindaichi Case Files Returns which comes in under Detective Conan in ratings ( but stays in the top 10 ) does have subtitles an is on Chrunchyroll. Think of the extra money they would get if it was a subtitled version of Detective Conan was leased to Chrunchyroll?
Same thing the comic industry learned the hard way. Comic industry did not want to use digital an others profited from it. That an the acidity of the fanboys almost killed that industry.Oddly Manga was ahead of the curve with digital. As a general rule Manga out sales comics wold wide. They adapted. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-05-21/japanese-comic-ranking-may-12-18/.74784 note thats one week in may an some titles have close to 800k sales. http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2014/2014-05.html top saler was 147k. When you look world market it gets worse for comics.
Not a advocate for piracy by any means. But I do watch shows where I can. Pirate sites per say do not make money off of me. AdBlock ,which i have turned off for Anime Vice so the site can get that ad revenue. Tho I have been suckered before on buying dvds @sickVisionz: did help me figure out I was being duped along the way on those. So now I just buy DvD / Bluerays from Amazon mostly.Tho Right Stuff can have a sale worth looking at to.
That said Industry like people are their own worst worst enemy.
