Overview

What's up Vicers?! Hope you guys and girls are all doing well. This is the eighth weekly Guilty Crown Report, and I'll be covering the events of episode 9.

This report will have a slight twist to it, compared to my previous reports. This week, I'll be asking you guys questions regarding a few of this episode's central themes. If you haven't watched the Guilty Crown series yet, and still want to contribute to this report, please scroll down to the heading titled "Open Floor Session" where I ask my questions and open the floor to you guys.

Without further ado, I present you with Guilty Crown episode 9 Report!

Plot

Prey: 捕食 Hoshoku

Yahiro returns along with his younger brother Jun, whose Stage V Apocalypse Virus has reached a state in which it cannot fight off the cancerous crystals. Shu is left to decide how to deal with Yahiro and Jun's circumstances since Gai is out of town. Will Shu help the friend that betrayed him? How will both Shu and the GHQ Anti bodies react when they witness that the virus seems to work much differently than the way they thought?

Verdict

Good

Yahiro and Jun make a reappearance and we learn more about both their characters' back stories, and their connection to the Lost Christmas event.

Shu displays a lot of growth in character during this episode, and demonstrates more confidence than he had at the beginning of the series. Not only that, but it seems that he is beginning to comfortably voice his beliefs and thoughts, and fighting for what he thinks is right.

For those with a keen ear to music, another orchestral track of the original soundtrack of when Shu first gets The King's Power during the first episode, has been played during this episode. Except this trackincluded trombones rather than violins (which were used during the sixth episode).

Bad

I feel there was a lack of explanation regarding the Apocalypse Virus and how the crystals behave. It just left me wondering how the virus actually works, and the episode didn't provide me with much explanation.

For Inori/Shu fans, there wasn't much development regarding the Inori and Shu relationship.

Another bad point that I found was that the GHQ seemed a little disorganized, maybe that's supposed to foreshadow something?

Points of Interest

NOTE! Some of these points include my own predictions. They could be right, or wrong, we'll see.

  1. The purpose of Yahiro's Void was revealed during this episode - To kill his brother, Jun.
  2. Kanon seems to have an unrequited love towards Yahiro.
  3. Hare's infatuation with Shu is further supported during this episode.
Gai, was that actually fatigue, or are you hiding something?
Gai, was that actually fatigue, or are you hiding something?

4. Jun tells Shu that the Apocalypse Virus gives him the ability to see Voids. Gai can see Voids too, does that mean Gai has some form of the Apocalypse Virus? Maybe that explains why Gai is always seen with IV drops in his room....

5. Ending Twist: The ending sequence during this episode included Inori walking by herself. Nothing much happens, which mirrors how there wasn't much Inori action during this episode.

Memorable Quotes

"Life doesn't go the way we want it to, doesn't it?" - Kanon

Phase 09 Comic

Every phase (episode) of Guilty Crown includes a mini-comic that's posted on the official Japanese Guilty Crown Website. The translation below was provided by the Guilty Crown Facebook Fanpage. Here's this week's comic:

TRANSLATION:

Title: Phase -09 The trailer:The Diva Who Is Going To Seek Revenge; by:Yupon

Director:Souta Tamadate

INORI - Revenger Diva

Souta:"It was suddenly discovered her [Inori's] boyfriend died.Perhaps it was caused by GHQ's conspiracy?"

Inori:You're kidding,I can't believe it!

Shu:Hey! I haven't died yet.

Souta:"She encounters a boy who can take care of her broken heart."

Souta:I can do anything for you even if I were dying. Let's fight!

Souta:"Inori is going to Undertaker to avenge her ex-boyfriend's death."

Shu: Geez! What does "EX" mean? First off, stop shooting. Inori is no related to Undertaker.

Open Floor Session

These are some questions I'm throwing out to everyone out there, i.e. those who watched the series or not. After watching this episode, these questions have been running through my head over and over and over, and I'm curious about how you Vicers would answer them. I'll share my thoughts as soon as I get responses from you folks (I don't want to influence your answers).

  1. Is it "right" to help and serve your own family out of "responsibility", and not "love"?
  2. If offered the ability to read peoples' hearts and intentions, would you take it?

For those who watched the episode, what do you think about Yahiro's character, after having his true self revealed to you?

Additional Question

After watching the episode:

What are your thoughts on Yahiro, after the events of this episode?

Thanks!

Thanks for checking out this report! I apologize for not elaborating much, but I think that way, I'll get to hear more from you guys. Hopefully I'll be able to get two more reports up before I leave for my vacation on the 24th of December. Takashichea will take over the reports during my 2-week absence. Thanks a bunch Taka!

For those who are interested in joining my partner Taka and I with out Guilty Crown wiki edits, please don't hesitate to PM me, we could use as much man and woman power as we can get! Thank you!

Overview

Hey Vicers!! Hope you're all doing well :D As for me, well I'm dealing with studying for finals and my part-time job. Busy busy busy!

This is just a brief blog/outline of my wiki plans for the next two weeks (December 12th to the 23rd). It will be a boring read I admit, lol, so I don't blame you if you doze off while reading this. I'll spice it up by adding some images :D I'm mainly creating this so I can keep myself organized and to give my team mates in both W.I.K.I Nation and Guilty Crown a little heads up.

My Two-Week Vacation

Our family get-togethers always end up with an intense card game...be it Old Maid or Cheat. This image fits perfectly. See, even homunculi have fun :D
Our family get-togethers always end up with an intense card game...be it Old Maid or Cheat. This image fits perfectly. See, even homunculi have fun :D

I was planning on mentioning this a little later, but I think it's best to bring it up now. I'll be travelling on Saturday December 24th, 2011 to visit some family that I haven't seen in ages. I'll be coming back on Monday January 9th, 2011 (so it's a little over two weeks). I know that the apartment that I'll be staying at doesn't have a computer, let alone Wi-Fi, so you guys might not see/hear from me while I'm gone.

There's a 99% chance I won't be able to work on editing Guilty Crown pages (the biggest wiki project I'm working currently on ) while I'm gone. That goes for my Weekly Guilty Crown Reports as well. According to ANN, the series will have 11 episodes - if that's the case, then I will be able to have the final report up before I leave, but if it actually runs for 22 episodes, then the Weekly Reports for episodes 12 and 13 won't be up until after I'm back (week of January the 9th).

Outline of Plans for Guilty Crown

Alright, this is a rough outline for what I'm planning to have done the upcoming two weeks. I might not follow it fully since I'll be busy with studying, work, and packing. I'll try my best though.

Week of the 12th (December)

Concepts

  • Apocalypse Virus: Need to add the overview, and what has been revealed thus far in the series
  • Lost Christmas: Need to add the overview, and what has been revealed thus far in the series

Episodes:

  • Create an episode page for episode 10

Weekly Report

Week of the 19th (December)

Episodes:

  • Complete full plot summary for episodes 6 and 9
  • Create an episode page for episode 11

Weekly Report

  • Have a weekly report for episode 10 or maybe a joint episode 10 and 11 (we'll see....so far, I think it would be best for a joint episode since episode 10 ended with a major cliff-hanger.)

When I Return

When I come back, I'll basically be playing catch-up. It's hard to give a precise outline on what I'll be doing, so I'll just update you guys when I return.

What I know is that I will be writing two episode reviews for episodes 6 and 9 when I get back. I've got a lot to say about them, and I don't think my weekly report will cut it. Look forward to it guys and gals!

Closing

So that's all from me :D

If you're a Guilty Crown fan, and want to join Taka and I with our GC wiki editing, please don't hesitate to PM me. We'll be glad to have you join our team, and help us out, especially since I'll be gone for two weeks. If you have any additional questions or comments for me, just post them here, or send me a PM.

For those celebrating Christmas, I wish you a merry one, and for those celebrating any other holidays, I wish you awesome ones as well. For those who aren't celebrating any holidays, I wish you a nice winter break :D Also, happy new year everybody! (I'll be gone on New Year's so accept my early best wishes :) ) And finally, I leave you with this.........

(lol I only ended up spicing up the page with two images.....)

That's it from me Vicers! See you later, and peace!

Overview

What's up Vicers! This is a super duper late Guilty Crown episode report. I apologize for being late guys, but life's been pretty busy for me as of late with finals and so on. Anyway, enough about me, let's get back to Guilty Crown mode! This week, I'll be reporting both episodes 7 and 8.

Plot

Epiosde 7 - Temptation: 輪舞 Rinbu

Shu finally gets back to school along with Inori, and with the help of the student council president, Arisa Kuhouin, the unpleasant remarks of the students regarding Shu's GHQ interrogation came to an end. Haruka,Shu's mother, finally comes back home and Shu is stuck trying to explain why Inori and a 'laundry-folding' robot is living with him.

The Undertakers also have a new mission for both Gai and Shu which involves a key asset in Undertaker's strategic advances. But what happens when a newly-appointed American GHQ colonel targets this key asset?

Episode 8 - Courtship Behavior: 夏日 Kajitsu

Shu is sent on another mission by Gai to Oshima. His mission is to find "the rock that started it all", which is situated in a secret base located in Oshima. To cover up the mission, Shu and the club members of the Contemporary Image and Video Research Club, which include Souta, Kanon, and Hare, are going on a free vacation to Oshima. Will Shu be able to complete the mission successfully along with the Undertakers, despite still feeling uneasy with using other people as tools?

New Characters

Introduced in episode 7, Arisa Kuhouin is the student council president of Tennozu First High School. She is also the granddaughter of the head of the Kuhouin Group.
Introduced in episode 7, Dan Eagleman is a newly-recruited American GHQ colonel. He is a former sportsman, and is known to have a very upbeat personality.

Verdict

Good

Episode 7:

Segai: Just wake me up when this is all over, 'kay Rowan?
Segai: Just wake me up when this is all over, 'kay Rowan?

What do you get when you group a bipolar mysophobic teen; an unmotivated creeper who is always on his cell phone; and a goody-goody two-shoes officer, all in one team commanded by an all-brawn-no-brain colonel? I'll tell you what: total WTH and LMAO moments.

We also learn some more about Rowan, Segai and Daryl's characters and personalities. This is a good shift since the series has been focusing a lot in introducing the Undertaker members.

Shu was actually working with Gai......WILLINGLY!

We learned more about Shu's mother's (Haruka Ouma) personality. Let's just say that she's got a whole different side to her, other than the formal doctor she is.

Episode 8:

Further strengthening of Shu and Gai's teamwork

We learn a little about Shu's father, who has not been mentioned throughout the entire series so far

We get a little vacation from Tokyo city and Roppongi and get to enjoy a little taste of summer and the beach with Shu, Inori, Hare, Souta, and Kanon.

Souta at Dawn
Souta at Dawn

We learn more about Souta, who hasn't had much screen-time for the past episodes.

Shu's character has gone through some evolution by the end of the episode, both in terms of his friendships and in terms of his "love" life.

Bad

Episode 7:

Shu and Haruka....a little too close perhaps?
Shu and Haruka....a little too close perhaps?

Is it just me, or are Haruka and Shu a little too touchy-feely? That was the only problem I had with this episode.

Episode 8:

So Tsugumi...why are you in a maid outfit again?
So Tsugumi...why are you in a maid outfit again?

I think the fanservice was a little too extensive when Hare was trying to impress Shu at the beach....maybe it's just me.

The part where Tsugumi was dressed in a maid costume and pushing Ayase around....I totally did not see the point of that scene.

Points of Interest

BEWARE OF MILD SPOILERS!

Episode 7:

  • Arisa says the same line as Gai in episode 6 at the end of the episode; "Eavesdropping? You sure have nice hobbies. [Sarcastic tone]"
  • Shu calls his mother by her first name without any honorifics
  • Doesn't Arisa look like Gai? Heck, she'd pass as his long-lost twin sister.
Mystery Pink-Haired Girl, Shu, and Haruka
Mystery Pink-Haired Girl, Shu, and Haruka
  • at the end of the episode, Haruka is seen looking at a picture of her, Shu when he was younger, along with the pink-haired girl appearing in Shu's flashbacks.
  • Ending twist has Inori walking, then running towards Shu. Could it be that she now wants to catch up and stay by his side?

Episode 8:

  • Shu doesn't know much about his father
  • Hare seems to see Inori as a love rival, and she has feelings for Shu
  • Ending twist has Inori walking alone, then joining Shu, Hare, Kanon, and Souta in a group photo. Maybe their relationship will soon become stronger and stronger.
"Oh the cloak? Yea..we borrowed it from Harry Potter the other day"
"Oh the cloak? Yea..we borrowed it from Harry Potter the other day"
  • The Undertakers have an invisible cloak which they can use to hide their appearance.

Thanks!

Thanks Vicers for reading this article! I'd like to wish the best of luck for my team mates Takashichea and Mohsinman99, along with all of my other team mates of W.I.K.I Nation on their upcoming exams. Good luck guys are girls, we're almost done! I'd also like to give a special welcome to lordbane666 who has recently been active on the Guilty Crown forums.

Overview

Hello Vicers! Welcome to the sixth edition of KuroNekoXIII's Weekly Guilty Crown Report. I apologize again for the delay, my school-life was very demanding this week, and I had to write up a lot of lab reports which take up a lot of time. Anyways, enough about me, let's get back on track with Guilty Crown!

Plot

Leukocytes: 檻 Ori

After an unexpected turn of events, Funeral Parlor, aka Undertaker, are forced to carry out their attack plan against the Leucocyte, despite their major loss in troops.Shu, who is a vital part of the attack plan, decides to pull out of the mission without any prior notice. What will be Undertaker's next step? And will Shu change his mind after he learns more about Gai and how he really thinks and feels?

Verdict

Good

Troubled Gai
Troubled Gai

This episode was amazing. There was so much depth to it, so many “take-home” lessons. This is, by far, my favorite released episode of the series.

We learn a little more about Gai, and the burdens and stresses he has as being Undertaker’s leader. Shu has definitely shown a lot of character growth during this episode.

A nice piano track was played during Gai’s monologue. I couldn’t get the name of it since the soundtrack hasn’t been released yet. The track was an orchestral version of the song played when Shu first uses his “King’s Power” during the first episode.

Mystery Pink-Haired Girl
Mystery Pink-Haired Girl

The mysterious pink-haired girl made another appearance. I get the feeling she will be making more appearances as the story progresses.

Bad

The episode was good overall, and I couldn't really think of any bad points. These are a couple that I had to squeeze out of my brain:

Leukocyte
Leukocyte

There wasn’t much development in the Inori – Shu relationship (although I didn’t find this a bad point since there was a lot of focus on that the past episodes)

I had to do a little extra research on Quasi-Zenith Satellites to get a full grasp on what the Leucocyte is supposed to be. Maybe the producers of the anime could do a better job with explaining things thoroughly; especially for those who aren’t into science and technology (or maybe I’m just a slow interpreter…).

Points of Interest

There was a change in the opening track. Usually, it had Inori facing her own reflection, but this time, it was Inori facing the mysterious pink-haired girl.

Gai’s cross seems to be very special to him. Now that we learned that, the fact that Gai is holding his cross in this original art piece holds more significance.

The word "Leukocyte" means "white blood cells", which are the cells that do all the fighting in our immune system. It makes sense that the satellite which will be used offensively be called that.

Inori had a different Void pulled out of her during this episode.

End theme twist
End theme twist

In the ending theme, we see Gai and Shu practically walking side by side, and Inori walking behind them. It mirrors the events of the episode since the main focus was on Gai and Shu’s relationship development.

Lessons

The saying “never judge a book by its cover” doesn’t necessarily have to be about books; it can be related to people as well. Never judge people by their appearances and who you think they are; people are much deeper than that.

Thanks!

There were lots of things that i want to talk about during this episode's report, but I restrained myself. My report was going to be much longer than this, but I cut it short so you guys can bring forth your ideas as well.

I'd like to thank my team mates of W.I.K.I Nation for giving me the support during my stressful school-life, and I'd like to give a special thanks to the staff members that decided to put my "Guilty Crown Weekly Report: Ep 5 - A Preparation" report on the Anime to Get Hooked On section on the front page of the site. It means a lot, so thank you!

Overview

Hello Vicers! First I’d like to apologize for the delay in posting up my weekly report. I usually have them up late night Saturdays or early Sundays, but this weekend was pretty busy for me (catching up with friends, doing homework, and cleaning my room – which has reached the messiest it has ever been in its entire lifetime).

Now that we got that out of the way, its time to get back to Guilty Crown mode! Welcome to the fifth edition of KuroNekoXIII's Guilty Crown Weekly Reports, with episode 5 being our topic. Have fun!

Plot

The fifth episode continues where the story left off, with Shu accompanying Gai, Inori and Kenji to Undertaker's base. There,Gai introduces a new mission that Undertaker will be executing, and he formally introduces Shu to the members. In order for Shu to officially join the team, he needs to train and win against Ayase and her Endlave in a mock battle.

How will Shu survive Undertaker's intense training? And will he be able to concentrate after the unexpected turn of events between him and Inori?

Verdict

Good

1. Funeral Parlor (i.e Undertaker) character palooza! We get to learn more about the different members of Undertaker and their strengths.

Shu is not Impressed >:(
Shu is not Impressed >:(

2. Humor! It was funny seeing the Undertaker members pick on Shu, since he's a newbie and all.

3. We see an entire new side to Ayase. The blush-when-sees-Gai Ayase that we’ve been seeing for the past episodes was just a small part of her wide array of character and personality.

4. A small glimpse of Inori’s backstory was revealed (really minuscule though).

5. A development in Shu’s character by the end of the episode.

Bad

1. There were tiny instances with fanservice which I didn’t really mind since it somewhat had to do with the flow of the episode, but the one scene that I didn’t really see the point of was Ayase in her nightgown.

2. I was looking forward to learning more about Kenji Kido’s character but not much was revealed other than his appearance.

3.The concept/term “Leukocytes” was brought up, but wasn’t really explained so it leaves the viewers wondering what it is. Seeing that this term is the title of the next episode, I bet more will be explained when it airs.

Points of Interest

*Beware of mild episode spoilers!*

1. I’m not sure if any of you noticed, but doesn’t Gai’s cross look like the cross that has been appearing in Shu’s flashbacks?

2. Gai says that Inori is looking more and more like “that girl” every day; but he doesn’t say who. Could it be that pink-haired girl in Shu’s flashbacks?

3. Arugo’s Void is drawn in this episode.

End sequence:

4. The end sequence definitely sums up Shu and Inori's relationship by the end of this episode. Not only that, but it also shows the viewers Shu's indecisive nature.

Lessons

Don't jump into conclusions without thinking things really through; it'll just make you look really dumb otherwise. In the words of my senior co-worker(excuse the language) : “Never assume anything. You’ll make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'” .

Thanks!!!

Thanks a bunch for reading my report, and I apologize in advance for it being late. Also, I'd like to thank my team mate, Takashichea for contributing to the Guilty Crown wiki pages and doing an amazing job with them (notably episodes 3 and 4, among much others). Great job Taka and I appreciate your work!! :D
