General Discussion » So, what part of Anime Vice do you like the most?

So far, it's the community. You can get anime news and information anywhere, but I'm really liking the unique, intuitive, nice-looking style of the boards here. With all the profile options and such, it's really a step up from any other forum I've been to.

Plus, you guys are cool too. ;)

Prince of Tennis spinoff? :)

Lol.
I think L would win though because I mean, all he had to find Kira was his wits and he found out who he was before he......
but Light had so many advantages....being on the police force, having the Death Note, having Misa....

A pure battle of wits L would win.
"
You've got a point there. It's amazing that L got as far as he did with the investigation with so little to go on, and Light can be pretty impulsive and sloppy.

Clannad » Have you ever cried while watching/playing Clannad?

Apparently she's still unconscious and invisible and can randomly appear when she feels like it, although no one will recognize her.

The series always goes to great lengths to delve into the backstories of its villains, and each one has their own unique and interesting motivations for what they do. Off the top of my head, I can think of Itachi, Sasori, Orochimaru, Zabuza and Haku, Kabuto, Gaara (for a while). None of them are just insane, bloodthirsty monsters. They all have fleshed out motivations and backgrounds that drive them to do what they do."
Yeah, agreed. Naruto does kind of give TOO much backstory though."
Yeah, they do overdo it a bit, but most the backstories are unique and involving enough that they don't interrupt the flow.

Unlike Bleach backstory, which I almost always hate.

Light, and then Near would pwn both of them.

Just Anime » Overrated animes

Kaiba. To be honest, I never got the whole hype about it. I did force myself to watch a few episodes, but instead of appreciating the unique visual style and the novelty of a world where memories could be stored, I just found the whole thing rather bland, ugly, boring, random, and directionless.

Also, the main character never talks. What is this, Zelda?!

If you want, I can tell you which light novels correspond to the anime so you don't get spoiled and just read stuff that was part of the anime. There will be some jumping around though because some episodes are only a chapter long while others are almost a whole light novel itself.
That's alright, I'll probably just break down and read through the whole thing once the official translations start coming out.

Yes, definitely. This is one my favorite story arcs of the entire series because of the drama and tragedy it delivers.

Off-Topic » Books Reading and Recomindations

If you're looking for thrillers, James Patterson and Dan Brown are very good. Specifically, I would recommend Deception Point and The Jester. Also R.A. Salvatore writes some amazing fantasy series if that's more along the lines of what you're looking for.

Just Anime » who is your favorite anime character

Wow, that's a hard choice. I'd say Kyon from Haruhi, Kamina from Gurren Lagann, and Konata from Lucky Star in that order.

I must I got a bit teary-eyed at least twice during the original series and the OVA got me twice within itself.

Lucky Star » Which Lucky Star scenes could you relate to?

Are there any scenes in Lucky Star that immediately made you think "I know someone who would do exactly that." or "Oh my god, that's me."

Procrastinating Konata always gets me and the first person I think of whenever Tsukasa comes asking for help on her homework is my little sister. ;)

Akira, smoking voice and all! Episode 8 of Lucky Channel was the greatest thing ever, haha.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya » I love this show

Kurisu said:
"I absolutely love this show, but if you don't watch it in broadcast order it's just not as good. I feel if you watch this show chronologically the first time around then you don't get the same experience..."
Yeah, I'd have to agree there. Watching it in broadcast order adds a lot more mystery to the story and makes the rewatch in chronological order so much more satisfying. I would add one exception though. The first episode might be better watched sometime between 4 and 12, when the concert takes place. That way you get the correct first impression of the series.

Naruto » Naruto Discussion

To be honest, I think the anime killed Shipuuden. Although I must admit, some of the episodes were quite epic, the low animation quality shocked me in some of the episodes and the way they go out of their way to drag things out makes it even worse. I say manga all the way from Shipuuden on.
