I am starting to wonder if it is truly possible to attain complete satisfaction out of a monthly manga series; upon wrapping up with this chapter of Ubel Blatt I was left wondering if all that waiting had been worth it to read a few pages of blood, violence and very little story progression.
This is the reason why I take the time to filter my manga, selecting the weekly from the monthly releases that are bound to take an age to finally progress.
Koinzel’s arrival on the scene is preceded by blood, gore and death.
I can’t be imagining this; it’s been way more than a month since that last Ubel Blatt chapter release, and maybe that has something to do with why I was felt somewhat bored with chapter 122. I seriously don’t understand how manga readers keep up with monthly manga /manhwa/Manhua releases.
The idea of waiting an entire month for a single chapter still amazes me; Claymore has the ability to make that month worth the wait. This Ubel Blatt chapter failed to deliver, at least on the level of content that we have been craving for over four weeks.
Basically a battle chapter, revolving around Koinzel brutally and fairly effortlessly murdering arrogant Brank Fan, I don’t know what I expected; maybe chapter 122 was aimed to highlight the reunion between old friends, with Koinzel, Ata and gang finally finding each other after Lord Lebellont’s war.
But it hasn’t been that long for me to really care about this reunion; and really, who cares about Peepi at this point in time? And why wait so long to elucidate on Glenn and his master plan? We’ve been waiting long enough for something worth the read to happen for a good two months and this chapter did little more than bring to an end a somewhat uninteresting conflict.
So who cares that Glenn has new even more powerful minions? We knew how short lived they would be in Koinzel’s presence. This chapter needed more intrigue and better pacing to make it worth the wait.
RATING: 3/10, it feels like I haven’t read a good manga chapter of anything for quite a long while. Is it too much to ask to have something blow me away? I want to get excited about manga again and series like Ubel Blatt, which are neither good nor bad, are not helping.
HIGHLIGHT: Brank fan’s final scene was quite chilling, but he asked for it.
