Carmilla danced through the hoard of monsters, her sword disemboweling and decapitating those she came across. This was not a figure of speech, she was literally in a poofy white ballgown that was well on its way to becoming a red ballgown, abusing her ability to hypnotize monsters so that she could have a waltz and a kiss with each one before killing them. Not exactly the most efficient way to kill them all but it worked.
Sarah took a straight forward approach, using her assault riffle with its underslung grenade launcher to kill any monsters she could see. Her eyes were still the shade of brown they had been at her death. This was easy.
Jack watched the madness from the rooftops, only wasting his arrows when civilians were in danger. Otherwise he was fiddling with a device that looked very much like a telescope, the lens kept changing colors as he pushed the buttons on the side. Lan Fan, who was standing on the roof beside him, gave him an odd look. "What are you doing?"
"Looking for a distortion," he replied, changing the lens yet again. "What ever these things are they had to come from somewhere." She shook her head, Jack's magical gadgets never really worked for her. She just went back to coordinating the police and the other superheroes that Jack had command of.
One of these, a pale masked woman with long green hair and a blue tunic was fighting in the streets. The last monster's head flew off, she sheathed her sword. She took a deep breath, as much as she hated the smell of blood it was much more familiar to her then the tar and oil she had been surrounded by since she had come to this world. She shook her head and took out the cell phone Jack had given her. She held it with more then a little suspicion, it was still hard for her to accept that the touchscreen in front of her worked without some sort of magic. Lan Fan had tried to explain it to her but she hadn't understood a word of it. Still at least it was easy enough to use. "Lan Fan?" she said into the phone, "the street appears to be clear."
"Alright Anne," Lan Fan replied, "Head east and keep as far away from the Vampires as possible." Anne nodded and began walking, staying away from the parked cars as if they could come alive at any moment. She had learned to fear them within minutes of entering this world.
Four of the beasts saw their chance to kill the woman that had killed so many of their brethren. With her back to them and her sword in its scabbard they believed they had their opening. The ran quickly and silently, pouncing at her so that they would hit her simultaneously. They found themselves pouncing on empty air. Anne was standing a good 10 feet in front of them, her back to the, resheathing her sword. Then they were in pieces.
Jack finally found what he was looking for, the green lens showed a bright light, almost like a second sun, to the west. He folded up the telescope, preparing to make a large jump in that direction. A sudden huge flash of power appeared in the opposite direction, this one in the visible spectrum. Jack felt a slight tingling in his skin. "Lan Fan, please investigate the Angelic light."
"You're not handling it yourself?" she asked, Jack didn't respond, instead he lifted himself up in a ball of wind and flew towards the distortion. Lan Fan shook her head and ran towards the angel, jumping from roof top to roof top.
