Dragon Ball » Brian Drummond vs Chris Sabat

@hitsusatsu11:

I dont know, maybe I just cant get used to Drummond after listening to Sabat for so long. Keep in mind i only had to listen to drummond for the first season or so because I watched Toonami the get my DBZ fix originaly. That means drummond was only Vegeta for a very short time. But after listening to the bits of drummond that sabat did, IMO I still think Vegeta Sabat soundsthe most... natural to the character. A tough sounding bad ass. Drummond sounds creepy, which I guess works also, but I dont know, my heart belongs to the Sabat version I guess.

Dragon Ball » Top 10 strongest DBZ characters

@RadiantTheLight:

Dude, in the show wasnt Kid Buu stronger then Super Buu. Hence why they had so much trouble with him when he became Kid buu and KibitoKai was freaking his shit out when it happened?

Dragon Ball » Brian Drummond vs Chris Sabat

Geez, am i the only one that liked Sabat more all around? Sure, Drummond had the better over 9,000 and my wrath, but the final flash one wasnt as good as Sabats IMO. Sabat sounded more grown up then Drummond did, who sounded kinda weasely. Anyway, both are great, but Sabat will always be my Vegeta voice. Also, this is not a Spite thread because Drummond is not the clear winner. Anyway, other then Drummond, the guy who played krillian and maybe the guy who played Goku Ocean Dub sucks. So no, its not clear and I personally think tis the opposite overall.

Dragon Ball » My Top 5 Best DBZ Characters:

Originaly, I didnt want to include villians, but then i realized that if I ddint include them there would only be 3 people on my list, so I decided to add villians into the Mix. IMO these are the top 5 best characters of DBZ:

5. Hercule (AKA Mr. Satan) :
I feel the need to explain this one. Hercule is, what I like to call, the DAN of this series (if you know Street Fighter, you know what im talking about) He does do some useful stuff when it comes to saving the world when the Z fighters battle it out (throwing 16s head so he can tell Gohan to let go, Moving Vegeta out of the way and helping him (somewhat) when hes getting massacred by Kid Buu, and he was able to make the Fat Buu nice and not kill people(for a limited time though))  but oeverall, hes pretty useless in a real fight. though hes had some use, hes constantly getting knocked out (usually with one punch), and hes really a showboating liar. But, I will be a liar if I didnt say I get some chuckles out of him, and he does kinda add something to the show. And honestly, for a regular dude, he is quite impressive. Able to break 19 bricks in a single blow, win all those Martial arts tournaments without the need of crazy super like powers, hes jsut a regular old dude that happens to be very good at martial arts, as far as regular people are concerned.

4. Majin Buu: Personaly, this guy might be the scariest of the villians. When hes in his fat infant like first form, hes very scarey because of his Infant like wimsy while he pounds your head in. Its creppy. Then, when he becomes Evil Buu, hes scarier more in the serial killer kinda way. Super buu isnt really taht scarey so much as he is intellegent and more refined then the other two, but hes still crazy. He really had no motive, he just kills because thats what he does. Atleast with Frieza, Frieza had  an over arching scheme for Power and Rule. And Cell was jsut fullfiling Dr. Geros grand design for him. But nope, Buu killed because its what he did. although, one could argue that atleast Fat Buu was innocently naive enough where he didnt know any better, and was never told taht it was a bad thing. Plus, Super Buu has, IMO, THE best DBZ Bruce Falcouner song.   Oh, and speaking of Frieza...

3. Frieza: this dude was the big build up to the Sayain Saga. A being that the might King Kai even trembled before. He was the first villian that made you think "ZOMG theres no way Goku can kill thsi guy" Hes pretty much Satan. He kills for the sheer joy and sick pleasuer he gets out of it, but hes also the only villian in DBZ to have his own Army and intergalactic rule. Again, what made him so great was his build up. King kai told Goku to not face him because he had no chance and everyone feared even speaking his name (actually come to think of it, hes more like Voldemort more then anything). but when you first saw him, he didnt look that intimidating. But we soon learned that looks can indeed be deceving. Plus, he can blow upa  planet with realtive ease. He also marked the the first of the multiple transformations trend we would see with every major villian there on out. Before we only had the sayains transforming to the great apes, but this was the first time wed seen multiple consecutive transformation where the being got stronger after every one. However, Cell and Buu only transformed after they absorbed somebody, another trend that Toriyama did with the two later villains. While he wasnt teh strongest villain wwe would see in teh series, he gets props for being the first (supposed) unclimable mountain Goku and the gang had to face.

2. Goku: hes the classic protaginest. Pure of heart, uncorruptable, gentle souled, Goku was the poster boy for a Hero. Always rising to the occasion and doing the impossible. Whenever you saw a new threat upon the earth, you didnt worry that much because you knew Goku would somehow find a way to win. To the point where it got kinda tedious, because you knew he was going to win. So maybe the villians didnt have that much of a "OMG no one can beat this dude" vibe. this isnt DBZs fault, its a fault of pretty much any story with Good and Evil. Rarely do we see the hero fail or die or let the bad guy win. One way or another, theyll find a way. But, Goku really is the model person for those wanting to be a hero. Selfless and self sacraficing.

Now your probaly think: "Wha!? our shows Hero number 2? Who the hell could be number 1 then? well, our Number 1 is someone that didnt start out as a hero. In fact, he was once one of the greatest threats against the earth...

1. Vegeta: IMO, this is THE best character in DBZ. Hes funny (in his own way), He has charisma, a never say die attitude and hes really one of the only characters in DBZ to be a multidimensional character. Lets face it, while Goku maybe our hero, he is B O R I N G Boring! He has realy no internal struggle, no inner demons, hes just good. Every way possible, boringly good. Vegeta is really one of the only characters to have a major character change through the series (way more so then Piccolo) He went from a War hungry, blood lusting conquering warrior to a caring family man (but hell kill you if you said that, lol) Its kinda hard to explain the great character progression he had. And you kinda symptahized with him. He trains like twice as hard as Goku does, yet Goku will always be stronger. Now, imagine how you would feel if you were always the best at what you did and strived to be the peak of your race, and some nobody came by and totally made you look like a chump adn killed the person who enslaved and ruined your life and reached the fabled peak of your race, a Super Sayain, a right which, to you, was your birthright?

However,  Vegeta finally excepted that Goku will always be better and he learned to move on. My favorite Episodes of Vegeta, and one that I think speak to his character progression, are the episodes where Vegeta tells Goku about his childhood under friezas rule and the episode where Perfect Cell "kills" trunks. In the frieza episode, you learn that Vegeta was created to be the person he is today by Frieza and how he taken whatever childhood he would have had away. And in the trunks/Cell episode, you finally see Vegeta go ballistic as he realzies his only son is dead (well, to him he seemed dead) this was a big turnaround for him, as later episodes showed his cold way he treated his son.  Again, im not that great in explaining things like this, but I truely believe that he was the ebst character in this show, because of his multidimensional personality. Plus, lets be honest, hes just so BAD ASS!

Dragon Ball » Questions about DBZ Kai.

@hitsusatsu11:

i will be rather surprised if the English Dub goes to the end of Buu saga like the original did. Not only would Nicktoons have striked a hell of a deal to get all that programming on tehir channel over everyone else, but also I cant imagine Chris Sabat and the VO for Goku really going through that whole thing AGAIN! I know theyll probally be paid well, but I honestly think they would have gotten sick of it. And honestly, after Frieza Saga, I dont see why we would need to redo the sagas after it because those are perfectly fine these days because theyre actually a mark quality over the original stuff. It seems unecessary to me. I mean, I love me some DBZ, but redoing the 291 episodes over again with new VO seems crazy to me adn I dont understand why its necessary for the Android Saga and up.

Dragon Ball » Questions about DBZ Kai.

ok, right now im in the process of watching DBZ Kai on Nicktoons as they appear weekly. Now, im aware that its Nicktoons, but I have no idea where else to watch the dub on a weekly bases where I dont have to wait for DVD releases. Needless to say, its a great trip back in time to see this show on TV again, but I did have a few questions about this revised version:

1. Its been a while since I saw the early season stuff, and im wondering how much of Kai is recycled voicework and how much of it is new stuff/new vocieactors? What I mean by new stuff is how much of it was the original cast (Chris Sabat etc.)  going back and redoing theyre stuff to make it sound more modern, and how much of it was completely different then the original as far as voice actors go? or if they seriously just took recordings from the original series and jsut put it over the characters to save time and money?  I know Chris did not original voice Vegeta, but from the start of this series he does all the stuff the first guy did. Gokus VO sounds like the guy that did it for alot of the later stuff, as I believe they went through like 3 VOs for Goku over the originals time. And I know for a fact they got new VOs for Freiza and Nappa, which im against for Freiza and kinda eh for Nappa. I know my question isnt fleshed out well, but what im really trying to get at  is is the entire series's VO redone? Because its sounds cleaner and more modern and everyoen sounds different to me.

2. Is this only going to cover up to the end of the freiza saga? as thats when creator originaly wanted the series to end but continued it much longer because of popularity. Because if they were seriously going to redo all the VO for the ENTIRE DBZ series, that would be insane and I really dont think the VO artists that were in the original would go for it considering how many episodes there are.

3. Does Nicktoons cut it up alot? im asking this because it seems like whever anyway makes a hit on anyone, they cut away from it and dont show the impact, only the reaction shot of it. I cant understand maybe not having alot of blood, but I will not except toning down the actual violence of it.

4. Anyone notice this show looking really clean? like, cleaner then a old anime show should look these days? Idd they HD Remaster everything or something? because this actually might look better then the DVD box sets.

Anywy, if anyone knows these answers, please let me know. Thnks.

Just Anime » Toonami dies... Cartoon Network sucks?

sigh, im sad now. Toonami was fantastic, and its merely a relic of what was once a great channel. also, was that "bang" at the end a BeBop reference? because the same guy who did spikes vocie also did Toms. If so, that was amazing and probaly the best way to end this. I mean, its gotta be a reference to that. I love Steve blum.

General Discussion » Coolest reason to be a Villain

Well, I can only talk about why I like Villains more then heros. Villians are way mroe intersting alot of times. The Hero is just there half of the time. He doing what hes doing because its his destiny of some crap. Villians are created, not born most of the time. Something happens to other wise good people that turns them to what they do. They could be trying to rule the world because they feel they know better then everyone else, and that the world is doomed unless they take charge. Or they could have had such a experince that they resent humanity. Villians tend to have alot more complexity and shades of grey then Heros do. I would like to use Light from Deathnote as a example. Was he a villian? He was the main character to be sure, he was trying to make the world a safer and better place, and he did it the only way he knew would get results.  IMO in this case its not really cut and dry. At the end of the day, yes, what he did was wrong, but it is often said that the road to evil is lined with good intentions. or something like that, im not 100 percent sure how the saying goes.

Battles » Zoom vs Goku

@Mortein:

But whats his Schtick? Was he jsut created so Flash could have some kind of mirror match? I really dont see why you would create a villian (im assuming hes a villian) that was stronger in the element the hero excels at (in this case Speed)?

Battles » Broly vs. Perfect Cell and Perfect Form Janemba

@TheLegendaryOne:

Honestly, I didnt watch the movies. I kept to the main series mostly. I did see Dead Zone though. i only know two thing about Broly:

1. He was apparently the strongest Suepr Sayain at the time.

2. in the English Dub, he was voiced by Vic Mignogna, which to me was hillarious considering Vic has never really done anything like that before. He says all the time that it killed his vocal chords because of all the yelling.

Battles » Broly vs. Perfect Cell and Perfect Form Janemba

@TheLegendaryOne:

I know that, but Hitsu said Broly was way stronger then Cell was, which dosent make any sense because GOKU killed Broly when he was still a Super Sayain 1 I think. When Goku fought cell, he was much stronger then he was back then. And he was still weaker in cell. So what he said didnt make any sense because, to the best of my knowledge, Broly happened before Cell.

@hitsusatsu11:

wasnt Broly killed by SS Goku? If thats the case, and broly was way more powerful then Cell, then why wasnt Goku able to beat Cell with ease if he was beyond a Super Sayain when eh fought cell? Mind you Im not sure if Goku was quite SSJ2 at that point, but still.

Just Anime » Top 5 Favorite Anime Soundtracks?

@hitsusatsu11:

I do to, I was just saying that IF you didnt like Yu Gi Oh, I still think you would have found it funny. since you like Yu Gi Oh, your probaly going to love it. I really recommend watching it. They got on Youtube. Just type in Yu gi Oh the Abridged Series. The creators account name is Cardgames FTW. He goes by the name Little Kuriboh. I like it because it references current events in the jokes, it pokes fun at some of the rediculousness of the show, and is over all just enjoyable to watch. He also does like all the voices himself except for a select few in later episodes.  Here, I can link you the first episode, but I warn you, since this is the first one he did, its going to sound a little muffled and scratchey, and in alter episodes he comes into the voices much better.

Also, if you dont care about Episode order, heres a episode where the quality is alot better

  This is probaly my Fav. Episode.
