Negima!
Right off the bandwagon from
Negima!? (Negima!’s spinoff series) I decided to check out the anime based on the original manga,
Negima! Negima! was produced by Xebec, Inc. and has 26 episodes. Negima is a harem, romance, comedy, action..... I guess you could say it's a bunch of stuff really, but mainly its a comedy harem show with some action thrown in.
Brief Overview
The story resolves are
Negi Springfield, a 10 year old mage from Wales, who is the English teacher and homeroom teacher for class 2-A (a junior high class) at Mahora Acedemy. He must be a teacher so it can help him train to become a Magister Magi, a special mage that helps normal people. For the plot of the show I believe it's loosely based around the "The Child Teacher Arc", but I'm not certain since I have not read the manga yet as of this written review. Through out the show we see the development between Negi and
Asuna and see the other students get fleshed out, some more then others like
Nodoka and
Konoka. I guess you can say the plot follows the daily life of the class until the final few episodes which are filler (that's all spoilery stuff so you can find out for yourself if you watch the show).

My Thoughts
I'm going to say this now. I thought this anime was a lot better then the spin-off. My reasons were this: I heard the spin-off was a better anime then the anime based on the original. Don't get me wrong,
Negima!? was still a solid show, but I just had more fun with this one.

Some of the girls from 2-A.
I thought this show was great fun all around. Sure the pace of the show was a little goofy, but it was still a good watch. The comedy was great, the action parts were good, and don't forget about the fanservice! Unlike the spin-off, the original has
fanservice jammed in from the start. At least it's not over the top and in every single episode so that's good. Since the last few episodes were original to help close out the show, they took my by surprise. When I first seen episode 24 (the beginning of the filler end) I thought it really didn't fit the show. Let's just say that things get a little sad and depressing in the atmosphere in the tone of the show. I did have a few grips though. The pacing of the show was a little goofy, but not terrible and some times the animation was kinda bad in some spots.
Besides the goofy pacing, some times bad animation (most of the time it's good), and an ending filler that kinda misfits the tone of the show, I still had a fantastic time with the show.
My Score - 4.5/5
Blog Thing
Since I do post my reviews on the forums and the review section, I can take advantage of this blog thing when I post this stuff to the forums.
Now that I have finished the anime, going to check out the manga finally. I'm one of those guys who does this in the wrong order; anime first and sometimes the manga second. I haven't read much manga series and I really want to read more so this will be a good start. Since the manga is still on going, I wont be reviewing it since I'm one of those guys that likes the review things as a whole weather it be a whole manga series or some seasons to an anime; Example: I reviewed the 3 seaons of Minami-ke has a whole and mashed all 3 seasons into one review. I guess that's my thing. Some of you may think that's no the right thing to do, but it's just something that I roll with.
On the anime front. I have three shows that I want to check out right now.
Seto no Hanayome (aka My Bride is a Mermaid),
Karin (aka Chibi Vampire Karin), and
Shakugan no Shana. I pretty sure that I'm going to watch Seto no Hanayome next out of these. It seems like a goofy and over the top romantic comedy, which I have been digging lately. I don't know why but I've been loving the hell out of these romantic comedy shows lately. If you look at
my list that's pretty much what I have watched after getting big into anime last year.
One other note. I've been having fun doing these reviews. I really haven't done anything like this before in my life so it's fun to do something new and different. Sure my reviews aren't the greatest and sometimes rushed, but it's a great way to up my writing skills since I've graduated from school about 2 years ago and have been sitting on my ass and doing nothing the past 2 years.
I guess I should end this now before I talk about something weird like "BEST HENTAI SEX SCENE EVER!!!" or something like that. Later fellow Vicers and may the force be with you!
