JJOR64 (Level 16)

   The next show I decided to check out was Gurren mother fucking Lagann aka Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann .  I don’t think this anime needs an introduction.  For those of you that may not know, here is a brief summary of how the show starts off.

The show resolves around Simon, a 14 year old digger.  Simon lives in an under ground villiage of Giha.  Simon is one of the best diggers in Giha village, but is ostracized by his peers.  One day when Simon was digging he found a special drill key and is soon recruited into a group called “Team Gurren” by Kamina.  After a failed attempt at reaching the surface, Kamina was thrown into jail by the village elder.

During Kamina’s jail time, Simon continues to dig around.  He soon finds a “a big face” deep in his tunnel.  Simon quickly goes to Kamina to show him his discovering.  Soon after the village elder catches Simon.  Right when that happens, the ceiling over Giha Village collapses and an enormous mech falls into the village.  Here is where we meet Yoko, who is fighting off the mech.  After meeting her Simon takes Kamina and Yoko to the “big face” he found earlier and discovers that the small drill key he found can be used to active the “big face” which is named Lagann.  Simon then uses Lagann to destory the mech and break through to the surface.

And that is how this epic journey of Simon’s starts.  From here we see if massive journey fold out.  His ride does have some bumps along the way, but in the end everything is just fine

I’m not really into mecha anime that much, but I fucking loved this show.  I loved the characters, the setting, the over the top crazy awesomeness, the big ass drills, the sexy ladies, everything.  I easily recommend this show to anyone.  Love mecha?  Watch this now!  Hate mecha?  Who cares, watch it anyways.  This is probably one of my favorite anime shows that I have watched and I’m glad that I have finally seen it.
