Well, 2 days have passed since the console release of BlazBlue, and my desktop has yet to be turned on since then. In fact, the only reason you may have seen any activity out of me is because I've been posting from work (and unfortunately I can't bring my PS3 or 360 with me).
As many of you may or may not know about me, I almost never play any one game for more than 3 hours at a time. The only exceptions to that up till now have been one or two RTS's (since many times you can barely finish 2 rounds in 3 hours), Valkyria Chronicles, and the two big Type-Moon visual novels (F/SN, Tsukihime). Well, Blazblue is now the first fighting game on that list. I don't know about the rest of you, but my thumbs have been going raw from playing it so much.
The character diversity is just all over the place. You've got the heavy (Iron Tager), the typical Sol and Ky-like swordsmen (Jin and Ragna's movesets are basically Ky's and Sol's with a few things swapped between the two), the half-animal-usually-part-cat (Taokaka), and now a few more of the "let's their henchmen do most of the attacking for them" types (Rachel and Carl). Basically it's got a lot of the same character archetypes as Guilty Gear, but with a bit of changing around and also a few new styles. Noel Vermillion, for example, uses dual
Vash pistols but weilds and attacks with them almost like they're swords. Plus her whole moveset shift when she uses Chain Revolver mode is sort of like a cool lite version of Sol Badguy's Dragon Install.
Top it all off with an actually quite impressive english dub, excellent 2D and 3D artwork and animations, and a really cool visual novel-like story mode with an actually interesting story (Guilty Gear's story was a bit...all over the place?), and you've got yourself an amazingly fun game. So, who's
your favorite character(s) and strategies? and any other thoughts?

Cute, hot, AND kicks ass? Now that's a devastating combo.
(Random interesting fact, apparently the game renders at 736p instead of 720 or 1080... though it upscales and downscales just fine.)
P.S. The artbook that you could have gotten if you preordered through Gamestop was completely worth it. Also, Noel dressing up in cosplay was awesome.
