Editing & Tools » Question about adding manga series

@takashichea: In the end I decided to go for my gut instinct, and ended up with pretty much what you said. It's nice someone eventually got back to me though :)

At least this topic will be searchable now for others unsure about it.

Kinnikuman » I Want to Watch This Series... But Where?!

@ImperiousRix: You're quite welcome. I know the pain of finding a potentially great show that has all but disappeared off the face of the internet.

Kinnikuman » I Want to Watch This Series... But Where?!

@ImperiousRix:Ah, right. Didn't realise there was a prequel series (or rather, Ultimate Muscle was a sequel series). That would have explained a lot watching it as a kid!

You sure picked an obscure anime to watch haha. My usual "places" to get subbed series have turned up nothing, and what with the original series boxset going for $535 (!) on amazon.co.jp I don't think any new translator groups are going to pick it up. Apparently some subbed episodes found their way onto Youtube, but got taken down by Toei, and the translator group's website was taken down from wordpress. Apart from a few stray torrents here and there you might be out of luck.

Kinnikuman » I Want to Watch This Series... But Where?!

If you're looking for the non-dubbed version I'm afraid you're out of luck. All the releases that 4Kids put out (which are pretty darn pricey by nowfor what you get for $39.99) were sold under the name of Ultimate Muscle with no Japanese language track to speak of. I wouldn't judge you if you decided to pursue less than legal means to get a non 4Kids version.

Editing & Tools » Publisher = Animation Studio?

It almost seems like a weird holdover from comic vine, the same way that manga series come under "volume" in the search. For what it's worth, I always put the animation studio there anyway for shows. The animation studio's catalogue of anime and manga seems to be linked to that field as well.

Anti-Hero » Do stern characters count?

The way I see it, anti-heroes are people that try and achieve their noble goals by questionable means, whereas anti-villains try and achieve their questionable goals by noble means. It's all about the means to an end; sternness has little to do with it.

General Discussion » It's Time To Pick Another Watch & Learn

I want to choose School Days so badly but Tom probably wouldn't get round to the payoff. I choose Monster because it's a fairly intelligent anime that doesn't feature teenage protagonists.

Bug Reporting » quest blocks do not always become colored after completion...

@djsquelch: Just realised why you didn't get the quest. You put "first" in your comment, which unfortunately counts against you, even if you didn't post just that. Here's another commentless video for ya.

Quests » AV Club - Secret Quest...

@djsquelch: Sure would. Speaking of which, don't think I've ever seen that video before; seems interesting.

Editing & Tools » Is there already a page for this?

@fire_star said:
@Godot: There is a far longer list of anime's/manga that share this theme, those you listed are but a very very small amount compared to the actual amount that feature this.
I know, but I was offering actual examples that might support the existence of such a page.

Editing & Tools » Is there already a page for this?

@SilverZeo: Basically the Soul Society arc of Bleach? I think Yu-Gi-Oh did it to a degree as well, but seeing as how I last watched it half a decade ago my memory's a bit hazy.

@djsquelch: You're welcome :) This quest in particular is tougher than most to get if you don't know what to look for.

Quests » AV Club - Secret Quest...

@djsquelch: Post the first comment on a video.  Don't be obnoxious = don't post what first-posters normally post.

If you go back to some early-site videos I spotted at least one unclaimed comments section.

Tokyopop » New Tokyopop Source?

@djsquelch: Certainly not. I meant it in reference to his inattentiveness and boredom with the task at hand moments after he had set up something. DVD on demand! America's Greatest Otaku! (strewth). Print on demand!  Layoffs happening throughout all this! If he'd stuck with one of these (apart from the tv show) then it might have made a cool impact on the industry. But no, he had to do all of them.

Tokyopop » New Tokyopop Source?

There is a European Tokyopop website, but it's in German. Stu Levy's twitter seems to suggest that he's in Japan helping out the disaster relief teams, but apart from a load of Japanese 4square check-ins there's little or nothing about the future of the company. It's almost fitting, considering Levy's almost ADHD style of running the company.

I kind of wish. Then I could still be treated like some semblance of a human being when I get on an airplane. Better yet, lets make it 1999, when we were getting new episodes of Futurama the first time and the biggest worry was that all our computers would crash.  "
I remember getting invited to go see the cockpit of an airplane along with a load of other children when I was younger. Simpler times, eh?

Let's be fair, though, lots of stuff went down in 1999. UK and USA might have been relatively safe, but Eastern Europe wasn't exactly a nice place to be. Although...

Dragon Ball Z (" Transformed at Last," October 18, 1999): Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time in the United States; aired on Toonami, a now-defunct block on Cartoon Network.

You can't go criticising other people's cred without posting your own, bub. ;) "
Okay, how about this- the oldest movie (AND I MEAN MOVIE) is the classic 1922 silent B&W picture Nosferatu. Try beating a nearly 90-year-old picture, buddy. "
Last I checked, Nosferatu wasn't an anime film. Which, incidentally, I have seen, but that's neither here nor there.

Troll a little harder next time.

The concept of anime cred by itself deserves insulting. "
Perhaps I should have put it in air quotes. I was more making fun of him for saying someone else's earliest anime sucked without contributing anything himself.
