Well, some must've already noticed this, but I started noticing the large amount of canceled series and manga titles simply but on long break. Mostly by Tokyopop, but also from Dark Horse. Some of you might remember the time, when Kodansha pulled back their licences and sold them back for a high price. That left the already economically suffered Tokyopop in a deep puddle of.....well, ..y'know. Here's some of the titles causing grief to their fans. Some of these were never finished.
Tokko, Saiyuki Reload, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Reiko the Zombieshop, Samurai Deeper Kyo, GetBackers, Rave Master and Life.
Even the finished titles has been affected, because the earliest publications by Tokyopop has been long sold-out. Great Teacher Onizuka and GTO: Early Years are in desperate need for a re-print. Unbelievably so, even popular and bestselling titles can't seem to get such luxury as a new edition. And for those, who read online, the situation isn't much easier. Few years earlier, Tokyopop demanded that the sites must be cleaned of their own titles. The prices are at their all-time high and remote countries have it bad. Manga isn't much of a problem, but anime is another case. It's hard to find in most smaller towns and even in Helsinki, the very few places selling it ask for terrible prices. For most, translations or dubs aren't even considered as a choice. Thumbs up for the better times, buddies...!!
