Oh, that's also the name of a manga artist. Not sure how I made that mistake.

Editing & Tools » What Counts as Anime and Manga in the Wiki

@takashichea @Acura_Max @Bigheart711 @sickVisionz @Dream
Here's a crazy obvious idea. If the volume/comic is produced by a manga publisher, it's a manga. Not psuedo-manga, such as Marvel's Manga-verse, that is manga in name only.

SCOTT PILGRIM doesn't count. Oni Press is just a name they selected. They are a comic publisher and consider themselves as such.

There are American manga publisher. VIZ, Yen Press, and Kodansha USA. Even Antarctic Press considers itself a manga publisher. The Avril Lavinge manga counts, because that is an original production from Yen Press.

This site is also focused on Japanese culture. That's why Sentai shows are appropriate for our database. The same for GODZILLA movies.

As far as anime, I'm really getting tired of explaining this. Being anime inspired doesn't qualify in most cases. The only exception I see is for the AVATAR series. That's become a part of the community. They are even using anime studios to produce them.

On the other hand, MADHouse has been hired by Marvel to produce many of their animated movies. That doesn't make them anime. An example would be that MADHouse worked on the movie PLANET HULK, which was based on the comic arc.

Then there is the issue of TV shows. If it's based from a manga/anime franchise, it's appropriate for our database. DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION is one example. You could even count that silly US made Godzilla movie. Those happen so rarely that it shouldn't be much of a burden to our database.

So, you've never watched QUEEN'S BLADE or seen the comic WARLORD OF MARS?

I wouldn't be surprised if the clothes do grow more.

That battle was so epic. You'd see action like that in a final episode, but this was Ep. 3. Just imagine the rematch.

I just got done watching episode 3. I hope we can have a LOT of screen grabs for that episode. So many amazing scenes and images. That fight was intense!

The line on Kamui is a bit vague. Goku Uniforms and Kamui are made from Life Tigers, but the Kamui are alive and can talk. I expect Junketsu will talk at some point. Concept just seems more fitting.

With you, we'll become accomplices together
If I don't start moving, then nothing will begin
I know it; I'll follow you
Because the key that opens this door
Is you

The rusty needle of loneliness
Doesn't hurt if I have dreams
If I'm with you, then I can plunge
Into the sea of storms, no matter how scary it is

I'll be there when you call me
I'm thinking of you all the time
Even if it's uncertain, it's love, right?
I'll be there when you call me
I'm fighting with you for our life
I can find my next mission

I was a little bird who didn't chirp
But then I met you and accepted myself
With a way of life different from anyone else
I can get across for sure
Because the figure ahead of pain
Is beautiful

We can do anything that we like
With you, we'll become accomplices together
If I don't start moving, then nothing will begin
I know it; I'll follow you
Because the key that opens this door
Is you

I was a little bird who didn't chirp
But then I met you and accepted myself
With a way of life different from anyone else

I won't forget you, a person with a strong and beautiful heart.

One more chance
Please watch over me.
So that I can continue down the path of my belief.
Yes, one more chance, just one more.
I will try to live on, for you too.

Even though the war was ended.
I cannot let my tears fall, yet.
Until I can ascend one step
On the staircase of our promise.

I will try again
Even when I stumble
I will lift my chest high, in order to walk forward.
I will try again
Someday I'll catch up
Please encourage me, tell me that I'm not alone.

One more chance
Dawn will break
I want to wave my hand at the stars
Yes, one more chance, tomorrow
Shine above the sky again.

I really want to meet you
And cry in your chest.

One more chance
Please watch over me.
So that I can continue down the path of my belief.
Yes, one more chance, just one more.
I will try to live on, for you too.

One more chance
Dawn will break
I want to wave my hand at the stars
Yes, one more chance, tomorrow
Shine above the sky again.

I should actually rename the Japanese section as Romaji and add a third section for the actual Japanese.

Remake this on other pages if you'd like.

I don't have the lyrics for this series, but I did for the first season of STRIKE WITCHES. I also added a link to this thread on the front page of the series. This could also work for trailers.

I did the same on CODE GEASS' first season page.

Let's walk step by step toward our dreams.
That which I can do, I want you to know, too.
Don't give up, spread your wings.
Now, let's fly for tomorrow.

Even when you hold your knees to your chest, sick and tired of it all.
Don't worry, don't cry, I know you can do it.
You only need to open the door of courage a tiny bit.
Really embrace that smile and soar high into that sky!

That which I can do, too.
I want to keep kindness safe.
After your wipe away your tears, let's fly off to tomorrow.

I want these feelings to reach you, using my special magic.
I promise not to look downward anymore.
For freedom, for the future.

If the point of fighting has warmth to do it,
then I'll fight to the end,
for a world for us that won't need fighting!

With you I'm sure I can do it.

To change myself and even the world
It's always right there at my side

Even as I stood still, looking at myself
With undistinguished frustration
Feeling lost, feeling anguished
Feeling mournful, deciding what to do
All it took was a single word from you
And my uncertainty vanished
You let the light shine into what was my empty room

The sky I had been looking up at...
Cleared and turned blue
And I decided to throw open
The windows that were kept closed

The moment when I might be able...
To change myself and even the world
I feel it right here with me

To a young wandering, imprisoned in loneliness
Are weakness and hatred shapeless enemies?

Oh father, I am still...
Learning who I am

As I pursue the backs I no longer see
Of the elder brothers who have gone before me
In the night I spend lost
The morning star beckons to me
This will not end in my death
I long for my dream
My faith in you sustains my life

In the windswept wilderness
Living with the butterflies and flowers
Blooming together in a mirage of eternal Spring
If my purity seems muddied
And my body deems filthy
Please believe in the finery within my heart

Oh mother, I will show no tears
They vanish like...
The few in the grass beneath my feet

As long as I sleep
When I awaken, just as always
I'm left going nowhere
Pointlessly repeating the pattern

The piece of a mosaic
Clearly showing
The lies and the mistakes of the past
As much as I'd like to erase them
When I look back, I see...
I still haven't moved past that start line
So let's try regathering
the pieces of our dream

The piece of a mosaic
To form the picture
The meetings and the partings I've had with you

General Discussion » (Kinda) New to Anime: Looking for shows

  • FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD - Though this is the second anime series, it's actually more accurate to the manga it's based upon. I believe you can still watch the entire series on HULU or FUnimation's You Tube channel.
  • EVANGELION 1.11 - This is a really great movie that is part of a re-imagination of the original anime series. It's going to be a four part movie series, and the first two are available in English.
  • SUMMER WARS - Another anime movie, but it's also just a great movie, period.
  • SOUL EATER - A good shonen action series with an interesting cast.
  • MY BRIDE IS A MERMAID - A silly and fun romantic comedy.
  • BLACK LAGOON - This is just a great anime series if you like wild gun action. I think both seasons are on HULU.
  • PERSONA 4 THE ANIMATION - An anime adaptation of the PERSONA 4 video game story. I believe it's still on HULU.

There are also reviews for anime series posted in the news section frequently.

General Discussion » Vice Pit Question Thread

Seeing how Anime Vice has a rather expansive wiki database. is there any page on the site that you've particularly enjoyed or thought helpful? Also, is there any page of the site that you wish had more work done to it?

With you enjoying ONE PIECE recently, have you thought about checking out the manga and seeing how that is paced in comparison to the anime? The series in the US is about a year behind where it in in Japan. Where Tom jumped on with the more recent episodes of the anime is Volume 65.

General Discussion » Magazine Subscription Query

@dinevalesco:

Well, I know there is OTAKU magazine that is an English publication that talks about news related to more anime. Basically, reading English news about manga and anime is often grossly outdated. You'd be better off spending that money on some Amazon gift cards so she could buy herself all the manga she wants.

There is the VIZ Media edition of the mangazine SHONEN JUMP, but these are often edited editions. Not really worth buying.

If she likes manga, I would suggest looking into some online manga publication. Yen Press has their YEN+ and VIZ has the SHONEN JUMP ALPHA. SJA is a website that posts translated versions of several manga series fresh form being published in Japan.

@sickVisionz:

The HULU episodes are nearing the end of the Water Seven Arc that leads directly into Enies Lobby Arc. The Dawn Island Arc episodes are all up.

@sickVisionz:

I just remembered that part way through the Enies Lobby arc. There is not just the back story of Nico Robin in detail (Ep. 275-278), but there are several filler episodes that are directly dedicated to the back stories of each of the Straw Hat members (Ep. 279-.283). Franky's back story was told in Ep. 248-250. Brook's story was told in the later Thriller Bark arc in Ep. 378-380.

The end of the Dawn Island arc also recaps these events very briefly, then you could jump right into the time skip.

You can also check out the ONE PIECE 101 videos that FUNimation has been posting on YouTube. These are overly broad and removes much of the depth, but still has the basics of most of the crew, so far.
