General Discussion » What Would Make Anime Vice A 'Better Place'?

I'm not making an announcement, I'm not saying anything official. But the idea we're kicking around is to make this site even more community driven. Meaning not hiring a full time video or news staffer.

How would we make it more community driven? Maybe... MAYBE... if the project solidifies, we would develop some tools that would allow users to promote other user content. Like blog posts could get up voted and eventually featured on the home page because of it sort of thing. That's just a possible example, not something we're currently coding. This idea could also allow us to publish even other niche community driven sites. So if it happens, it will be an important initiative.

RPG » That thing (A Wiki)

@Newten said:

@ethan: I think this would be pretty cool, but I'd recommend RPG character pages being omitted from search results by default. We wouldn't want people digging through hundreds of RPG characters when they're looking for legit anime characters in the database.

On a side note, if it's not that hard for engineers to add new page types to the database I'd love to see music pages and figure pages added. I'd fill the hell out of those, I know a few other users who would like that too.

It's not that hard to add new page types per se. But it IS hard to convince engineering to make new page types since they are already strained with hard projects.

@FoxxFireArt: Yep I too could see this going bad. BUT if it goes bad because we have too much interest, then it's a good problem to have.

@Validimus: @Fire Star: This idea, if the mods also give it an ok, is a test. It's not a test we'd want to do on Comic Vine. But who knows, what if it turns our to be a great idea to make RPG character pages, then we'd possibly make it official with an official RPG character section.

Guys, if this does go wrong in a bad way... we can always just figure out another place to host the RPG character pages ( back on wikia maybe). I'm a fan of trying things out though.

ALERT ALERT....

I'll BE OUT ALL NEXT WEEK. I'm going CAMPING with the family.

RPG » That thing (A Wiki)

What if we created a rule that all the RPG character were allowed a wiki page, but they had to have the word "RPG" at the front for clarity.

Like "RPG Apollo" or "RPG Yurika Mizukari". You can then attach those RPG characters to the main concept page. Remember though, it's a wiki so anyone would be able to edit it.

Also, if this idea took off and we had too many RPG characters, we could create a new RPG section of the site and move any character with "RPG" in the name into the new section. That would be a easy engineering task IF it was needed.

I'm open to discussing this more, I'd like to get some MODS to chime in. Someone get FoxxFireArt and Newten to read this.

@Newdeath: @cfatalis: Let's try it out. Put at note at the top that says something about the "Staff" gave you permission to create the page. I like experiments. Try it!

Would you guys be up for creating this wiki page here on Anime Vice? It's weird to make a wiki page on wikia when we have our own wiki.

This could be a concept page.

General Discussion » Any Anime Vice Youtube users?

If you use YouTube regularly, do you subscribe to any anime channels? Or any channels. If so, what?

I don't mean do you watch full episodes of Anime on YouTube. I mean are their shows -- professional or not -- that you like to tune into that talk about anime, review anime, or just do something entertaining with/about anime? Let me know, thanks!

RPG » We should do something involving voice chat

Although I do not RPG, this idea intrigues me from a web developer perspective.

Great pick.  FoxxFireArt is one of the most important people on AV.  Wiki contributions, helping new users and diligent conversations.

Editing & Tools » Wiki Task Queue Theme Suggestions

This wiki article needs some work.
This wiki article needs some work.

This is the official thread to talk about what we -- as a wiki community -- should focus on. Anime plot summaries, character pages, franchise articles should all be discussed here.

If you don't know what our Wiki Task Queu is then check it out. It's a great way for mods/staff to assign special bounty points to wiki pages that need help. Occasionally we create a theme for a whole week; filling the wiki task queue with tons of wiki pages that are related. For example, we did a Fairy Tale theme week and in one week we got tons of pages written or fixed up.

So first think about what types of Anime you and the community love, then discuss what sections of the wiki we can all pounce on for one week.

Editing & Tools » Should the Spoiler Tags in wiki pages be removed?

Spoiler tags are not supposed to be in wiki pages ever. A wiki page is in effect a spoiler. All the information that is important to a character or story should be written in a wiki page, hence spoilers must be included.

I've removed that spoiler button from the wiki page editor before, but it seems to get accidentally added back in.
