1. My Neighbor Totoro
Totoro is my hands-down favorite Anime film. I've watched it with my daughters probably 10 times this year and each time it transports me to a quiet-serene place where magic is common and natural. As Satski and May run through the old house, across the porch and through the yard, I am always amazed at how perfectly their movements have been animated. They are absolutely children: silly, accepting and curious. |

2. Ponyo
Again, Miyazaki takes a natural and remote scene, transforming it into a magical place. There are no evil characters, no violence; except that of the churning sea. Miyazaki uses the power of the crashing waves to remind us that nature itself is the most dangerous force, and there is deep importance in the need to not upset the balance of nature. |

3. Spirited Away
Deeply magical. Nuff said. |
I've gone through all these movies and made profiles for just about every character in them. I figured movies of this caliber deserved a lot more attention than they had been given in the past.
Thanks. I was just watching Lupin IIIi with my kids last night, another Miyazaki movie. My 4 year old loves it.
