Top 10 Anime Titles You'd Have to Pry from my Cold, Dead Hands Before I Give Them Up

This is a list of ten anime titles in no particular order that I have so strong an attachment to and that I own in my personal collection, that I wouldn't imagine the possibility of ever giving them away.

1. Kiki's Delivery Service

The anime film that was my very first exposure to the world of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films. I own the 2002 DVD release of this.

2. FLCL

I was giddy for joy when I first seen this series on Adult Swim in 2003. I recorded all the episodes of it on a VHS tape and played the hell out of it to the point where it eventually wore the tape out. I managed to win the original Synch-Point volumes of this series in an E-Bay auction years ago and I've kept them since.

3. Serial Experiments Lain

The very first mind-fuck anime I got to see which I torrented during my first year in college. I've owned the Geneon Signature Series box set of the series since 2005 when I bought it at a Best Buy store.

4. Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki

One of my gateway drug titles into anime via Toonami in 2002. The second and third volumes I bought of the series were the very first anime DVDs I got, and I would eventually get the other two from winning E-Bay auctions. I still have a couple limited-edition collector coins that came with the mentioned two volumes I bought from over a decade ago.

5. Koi Kaze

Been one of my personal favorite romance titles since I first seen the series in 2005 for how well it handled its controversial subject. Was fortunate to have snagged all three individual volumes from an FYE before Geneon closed up in 2007, as the series has been long out of print since.

6. GTO

One of my all-time favorite anime comedies kudos to the antics of Eikichi Onizuka and the tough love he shows for his delinquent students. Managed to win a set of the Tokyopop volumes of the series a while back off an E-Bay auction.

7. Cowboy Bebop

Another of my gateway drugs into anime thanks to Cartoon Network. Have owned a copy of the Cowboy Bebop Remix Anime Legend set from Bandai since 2010.

8. Key the Metal Idol

A very underrated 90s OVA series that hooked me from start to finish when I seen it in 2006. I've owned a full box set of the series from Viz Media since 2009 and the series is another that has been long out of print.

9. Haibane Renmei

An emotionally powerful anime made from some of the same team that made Serial Experiments Lain. Have owned my old Pioneer box set of the series since 2009.

10. Perfect Blue

The film that made me a sap for Satoshi Kon's work. Got Manga Entertainment's release of the series as a Christmas gift from family in 2006 and have had it since.
