@Dekken: Fixed it. That Izuna screen cap wasn't even in the episode gallery so I don't know how it ended up as the image for the episode, probably just a weird glitch.
@ReplicaRex: I won't consider locking this thread necessary unless users start being nasty directly to each other. If you simply don't like what's being said in here then I'd advise ignoring the thread.
EVERYONE: keep it friendly in here. No God-bashing or rudeness, okay? Good.
I'd probably be Goku. Strongest dude in the universe, carefree, hot wife, lives in the countryside... can justifiably beat up his kids from time to time... he's got it pretty good.
Although Master Roshi is immortal and owns his own little island. But I imagine his life must be pretty boring most of the time.
I gave my vote to Bleach. Of the three, it's the one that's held my attention the most. It has great characters, fantastic production values and the characters have cool, unique abilities. Unfortunately it falls into lots of the same traps that Dragon Ball Z does, with the main problem being that the characters (ESPECIALLY Ichigo) are constantly "levelling up" and at times it seems a little ridiculous. My only other major problem with it is that it has a bad tendency to introduce large groups of characters, have them involved for a season and then forget they ever existed and move on to the next lot. It would do better to go back to older characters and focus on them more. It gets surprisingly interesting when it dives into the past too. We're all still waiting to learn more about Ichigo's dad, he has a very mysterious past.
Oh, and completely avoid the Bount arc (first filler arc). Bleach actually has some great filler material, but also in this case some of the worst. Avoid the Bount arc like the damn plague. It's thankfully completely skipable as you won't miss anything important.
Naruto is great, but I haven't been drawn to it like I have to Bleach. I read the manga for a while but haven't gone back to it, I'm actually planning on starting the anime from the beginning soon instead of resuming the manga.
It's a shame Fairy Tail isn't on this list, I'd probably pick that. I think it avoids the problems Bleach has and is also more light-hearted and funny. Unfortunately though it isn't as strong visually, though it's much better now than it was in the beginning. I think Fairy Tail has a more interesting, fantastical world than Bleach or Naruto as well.
I've never been interested in One Piece.
They're definitely super heroes, they've saved the world multiple times. They just aren't super heroes in the traditional (western) sense; they don't often fly around putting out fired and saving kittens.
Hah, love the name of this thread.
Man, there's a bunch of stuff on this list I want to check out at some point. I sure hope I enjoy them more than you did! Hang on, aren't the characters in Boku wa supposed to be kind of retarded? Aren't they part of some oh-god-we're-socially-awkward-so-we're-in-this-club-to-make-friends club? Isn't it kind of, like, the whole point?
Anyway, great thread, Merry Christmas!
The dub for Dragon Ball Z Kai is the best dub I've ever heard, I can't stress that enough. Most of the cast have been voice acting for the franchise since FUNimation started dubbing Z, the experience shows.
I thought the dub for The Familiar of Zero was good, but they didn't dub beyond season 1, which is a real shame.
Oh, and I agree that the original dub cast for Pokémon was good. From what I've heard, the sound-a-likes they use now don't quite measure up.
@The_Desert_Tiger: Merry Christmas!
Don't forget about the takashichea's Christmas profile theme contest, here.
Also, if you're a Dragon Ball Z fan, you might just find this hilarious (there isn't mention of Christmas until somewhere in the middle, but hey, sue me):
Hey guys, Merry Christmas! Well, technically it isn't Christmas until tomorrow, but I'm sure you guys don't mind, right?
Got anything Christmassy to share, anime or otherwise? Spread some cheer and post here!
For Christmas images check out the Fan Art, Cosplay and Official Art image threads. If you have any of your own to share, post them there. Have any random Christmas images that don't fit into those categories? Feel free to share those here!
Merry Christmas everyone.
Allow me to explain. Anime Vice catalogues a lot of images with users adding more every day. These images are useful for wiki articles and filling in the galleries, as well as bringing in new visitors from places like Google image search. However, these images aren't really showcased in any way, so this is a place to share cool new official artwork you've added to the site.
What qualifies as "Official Art" you ask? A bunch of things: Artwork from magazines, posters, CD covers, BR/DVD covers, Visual Novel covers, Manga covers, etc. As long as it's officially affiliated with a franchise, it counts. Just make sure you know it's official and not just really good fan art or a vector trace (a digital trace of official art), sometimes it can be hard to tell.
I pretty much covered the major types of Official Art, so basically anything outside of what I listed above. But if you still need it spelling out; figures, cosplay, anime screen cap/shots, and fan art don't count, so don't post them in this thread.
Personally I find the default galleries too broad, making it easy to lose images in the depth of the ever-growing galleries on this site. I recommend adding these galleries to pages:
Where do manga/novel covers go? Upload those to the book/volume page they belong to. Why shouldn't you add merchandise to the character pages? I think that's better on the franchise page, same reason why I don't advise adding fan art to the franchise or series pages, that belongs on character pages. After all, if we added everything everywhere the galleries would be ridiculous wouldn't they? These aren't official rules or anything, but I highly recommend the galleries I've suggested.
Please post images using the small (single) or side-by-side (multiple) settings.
This is partly to keep the thread tidy, but also because most official artwork comes from anime magazines aimed at guys. So don't be surprised to see anime girls wearing little to no clothing in some images. If you don't want to see such images, either scroll past them or leave the thread. Of course, full nudity (completely bare breasts or visible genitals) is not allowed.
Now share those images!
