@Marshal Victory: That... actually looks pretty good. Great crossover idea.
Sure, I'm all for forum tournaments. One of these days I'll get back to the swimsuit tournament contest thing and post the final round.
It would be a bit strange that Natsu can smell Gray's father and think that it's Gray. If he can do that he should be able to connect Cana and Gildarts. I think it could be Gray from the future...
I thought the same thing. We've already had Evil Future Rogue already so it's plausible. It'll probably just be his father though.
...would that make Gray half-demon? He really won't be happy about that...
@sickVisionz: Ah, now I see the difference. To be fair, I think that was probably lost in translation. The way she acted in that scene made her seem like a total ditz and when she said ujimushi it seemed like she just said the first word beginning with U to pop into her head, rather than it being a subtle insult.
On a side note that guy is a fantastic animator, the scenes he worked on were great.
@Marshal Victory: Oh no I wasn't trying to argue, I was just curious what you found so different. Thanks for explaining :)

I duno they feel like two difrent characters now.
Really? Which character? Dandy? The comparison in the video seemed pretty spot-on to me, is there something specific I'm missing?
Yeah I just noticed the video, haha that was a waste of time, oh well. Judging from the video the dub script is great, they localize it without taking too many creative liberties. Pretty much settles it for me, I'll continue watching the dub, looks like they're doing it properly.
@sickVisionz: I watched the episode dubbed and I've been comparing the subbed version to it and it's pretty faithful from what I've seen. Here's the official sub and dub comparison for that scene:
Honey: "Sir, what is your name?"
Dandy: "Dandy. Space Dandy."
Honey: "So tell me, tell me, what do you do?"
Dandy: "Hm-hm, would you like to know?"
Honey: "Yes I would!"
Dandy: "It's a job that begins with a 'U.' Try to guess it."
Honey: Well, okay, let's see... Ujumushi! [maggot]
Dandy: No, that's not really a job...
Honey: "So, what's your name?"
Dandy: "It's Dandy. But you can call me Space Dandy."
Honey: "So then, Mr. Space Dandy, what do you do?"
Dandy: "Huh-huh, you wanna know?"
Honey: "Do I ever?!"
Dandy: "It's a job that begins with 'A.' See if you can guess it."
Honey: "Starts with 'A'... that's a tricky one... asteroid belt!"
Dandy: That does start with an 'A' but no...
I don't know much Japanese but the subtitles certainly seem to match up with what's being said, so I don't know who said the correct translation was "be an ass" but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.
FUNimation do a pretty good job these days so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I actually highly recommend checking the dub out, I don't like many dubs but so far this seems like a good one.
@Marshal Victory: When I was watching the term "Breastaurant" made me laugh way more than it should have. I'm not sure if I should be ashamed or not...
@DocHaus: I personally like theory #1 the most, but I doubt they'll go with that.
Just watched the first episode dubbed, good quality as you'd expect from FUNimation. Made me chuckle at times and at other times I was just bemused... kind of hope it's a little less slapdash next week but I'm definitely intrigued. It has a great look. I think I'll check out the subbed version to compare.
Also Space Hooters.
I was actually tricked into believing Charlotte was a guy because of her manly voice.
Yeah, that's probably what they were doing for. It's actually not a bad dub and I could probably get used to the accents, but I definitely prefer the original Japanese. Ichika no ecchi all the way!
@Dream: Added your review to the first post :)
I highly recommend the manga. I'm hooked which is saying something since I don't read much manga. There are definitely some less eventful chapters but the manga also has my favourite part of the story so far involving a doppelgänger of Urabe. I won't say anything more, you'll have to find out for yourself!
Sure, I try this show in the name of science. It's like French kissing to the extreme.
Let us know how it goes. I recommend you at least watch episodes 1 and 2 before you decide to drop it or keep going. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised :)
@takashichea: Sorry, I meant to reply to you last week. Oh god, I just checked out the dub, the accents are so bad! Or at least they seem bad to me, I don't hear a lot of French or German people speaking English so I guess I could be wrong. Charlotte doesn't sound cute at all! "You're a pervert!" in a harsh French accent isn't even close to "Ichika no Ecchi" in Japanese.
Don't even get me started on Cecilia. It's probably because I'm English myself, but whenever I hear an American doing a fake English accent (and it's always posh/royal English, too) it annoys me. It seems so exaggerated and snobby.
@Dream: Nice, you watched any of it yet?
@takashichea: Oh I wasn't trying to call you a hypocrite or anything, I just thought it was weird that MGX could creep someone out more than Pupa, haha. I think you should give MGX a try, think of it as... a scientific experiment. Yeah, do it for science!
If I remember correctly when I started watching it, I definitely winced a bit the first time Tsubaki put Urabe's drool in his mouth. It was more of a "what the fuck?" response than an "EEWWWWW!" one. After that I was too interested in the story and it didn't really bother me any more. The drool has certain properties that make it interesting, I don't want to spoil anything. People assume MGX is just a fetish anime and while it could certainly attract those kinds of people, that's not really what it's about at all.
You guys will never get me to watch this show.
Party Pooper! Wait... so you'll watch Pupa where a little sister literally EATS her brother, but a boy sucking his girlfriend's finger is too much? *scratches head* ...I don't ...I can't ...wuh?
@Supreme Marvel: Hey, I've started filling in the manga wiki pages. I've been working on Volume 6, let me know if you want to join in. Either way I'll take care of the image side of it, now that Crunchyroll releases the manga I finally have a nice source of clean images to use. Much better than using scans.
@takashichea: We just need to post in threads more so users will notice them. If they still miss them it's really their own fault for not looking around much. I think a lot of users just go to specific threads or boards and don't really notice anything else, we can't do much about that.
I know I'll be posting more soon. There are a bunch of threads I need to update and I think I'll start doing a lot more wiki editing, particularly on manga pages. Users seem to focus on anime pages and don't bother updating the manga, I'd like to see that change a bit this year.
@takashichea: There's no need to ask first. We make threads for all the new anime and we already have threads for other big shonen shows like Fairy Tail and Toriko, so it only makes sense to have threads for Naruto and One Piece as well.
I might check out Space Dandy tonight. I heard the dub is airing at the same time, I don't think that's ever happened before with anime. Not sure if I want to watch it dubbed or subbed, I guess I could check both out and see which I prefer.
