General Discussion » Western Sengoku Basara?

@DocHaus: I've see nthat clip from the show before, pretty funny.

Still, Would be awesome to see a Sengoku Basara-esque rendition of famous knights and figures.
For example.
Instead of Gratuitous Engrish, we use Gratuitous Latin.
We have Vikings, Arabic Warriors, Knights, Celts, Roman Soldiers, all of which can be chosen.
Depends what time period.

General Discussion » Western Sengoku Basara?

What would you guys think of a western version of Sengoku Basara, not necessarily one animated in the west, but an anime about a western period of history with major conflict that becomes over-exaggerrated  and extremely "manry".

A few ideas I have:
Teddy Roosevelt: The Anime - It chronicles Teddy Roosevelt, and exaggerates it!
Rome - Some period of Rome with famous warriors, maybe Augustus?
Rome/Post-Rome - Many of the barbarian tribes near Rome could be included, or this idea could be integrated into the one directly above.
The Middle Ages - I mean, we've all seen Arthur portrayed differently (See Soul Eater and Fate/StayNight) but how about the normal Arthurian legends, taken to the extreme?

Any other ideas?

@cfatalis:  Also, I don't think the person who did I said was you, don't worry, -hugs- .

Yep, that's another problem.

RPG » What is to stop someone from literally role-playing as God?

@cfatalis:
The main question is part-way a real question, and part rhetorical. It's not about the ability to be able to role-play a god, it's about the morality of the action of role-playing a god, i.e., I'm not questioning someone's skill in being able to role-play as a god, and the moral quandaries and mindset that would probably come with being a god, I'm talking more about responsible role-playing, i.e., not creating a Mary/Gary -Sue character with god-like abilities, as many people do on the site.

The main question I pose, while it could be taken as a literal question (and for that I apologize) it is meant as a metaphorical question to provoke thought on the topic of "God-modding".

it's actually true, you can't be an end all be all power, because someone could always disprove you say you know everything, which mean you have to be able to actually roleplay it which is near impossible, you can't know everything, as much as BIo's goes here it's always developing, so there's a let say it a knowledge block actually preventing you becoming an, end all be all power  no power is absolute, no knowledge is certain "

You fail to understand the point of this entire argument.

/facepalm

Also, I'm sure a number of the people on here who god-mod could be easily defeated by a character whose power level is based on the number of grammatical and syntactical errors in their opponent's posts.
It would be a, "slaughter-fest".

" @Cogito said:
" I understand some people have "very" powerful characters, and I have seen the argument made that by being "all-powerful" they can just choose the option of not killing for one reason or another, and thus not break the rule of killing someone's character. By that logic is is wrong if I roleplay as "God" or "The Consciousness of Existence" or "Sephiroth" or whatever other almighty being I choose? Just curious. "
oh and addition , if you actually play as those you must contain the power set you see e.g saying you have omnipresent, omnipotence and omniscient  omniscient actually meant that you know everything, and therefore someone could just write something on the spot to disprove of you being "God" "

@Justice: Cogito scratched the side of his head and smiled shyly "I do not think that Guardian would be up to any kind of lascivious deeds, Justice, and  I don;t think Seppuku is necessary, if you need to talk to them, have you tried your communicator?" Cogito said innocently

@Mesamia: If you never get in battles, it's alright, but if you fight someone for peace or destruction, then objectively, it doesn't matter. ^_^'
The matter at hand here is more God-Modding and the abuse-misuse of it, ultimately it's up to the creator of the thread whether it is allowed. (From what I've seen you tend to be a bit more passive when it comes to fighting or other people's back-story) But a lot of people will often misuse power when allowed it.

@lordxavierbritish: Basically, I stopped role-playing here for awhile after I got really pissed off at someone's god modding. I've figured the path to changing the standards is one voice at a time.
If you don't speak up, the inmates run the asylum, and such. The attitude seems to be along the lines of "So many people do it, how are we supposed to change it" or "Who cares, being OP is plot driven on it's own". And the fact is, for the sake of narrative, a god-like character can move plot along, if it isn't represented by any real world person.

The problem is that for some reason a lot of people, one way or another are "ok" with people who break one of the cardinal rules (as far as I have seen) of role-play; "Don't God-Mod".

So yeah, if you ever decide to role-play, we can totally start up a managed role-play thread, and if you haven't role-played before, I'd love to help you get started.
