Just Anime » Why do some people judge animes based on there fanbases?

It's not so much that they judge the show by the fan base, it's that they don't want to be associated with that fan base. It's not the person perception of the show, but rather the persons perception of how others are going to perceive them. It's like indirect peer pressure, they don't want people to be associated them with those people, and hence they stay away from the show.

Full Metal Panic! » Worth Watching?

It's one of the most overrated shows in my opinion. It's incredibly angsty and is really slow paced, especially for a series such as this. I hear The Second Raid is much better, but I've yet to find the courage to sit through it.

General Discussion » Has an anime ever made you cry before?

The Clannad movie had a bigger impact on me then Clannad After Story. Although episode 19 of Clannad struck a personal note with me since I have such a terrible relationship with my father(And I hate Clannad just to be held).

I do remember getting really emotional in Nana as well, but it's been about two years since I've seen that so I don't quite remember what scene it was. Grave of the Fireflies is also another killer as well as Chrono Crusade. Yet to cry, but definitely close in some of these shows.

Chrono Crusade is really the only good title in there. Although Kaze no Stigma is at least entertaining.

" @Burntlettuce:  I liked the Tenjho Tenge Manga far better than the anime. "
I've heard this numerous times, and I am sure it is. The type of action probably works well for the manga, but it did not translate well into the anime. One day I may read the manga, but that that day is probably far into the future.

Just Anime » The most frightnening animes (as in horrible) i ever saw

I think you are reading to much into some of these shows. You say the "plot lines" are terrible, but honestly what did you expect from these shows,  Shakespeare? I also suggest you check out the original Yugioh that aired in the 80's, get some sense of the shows grounding. Also consider the age group that a lot of those shows you mention are aiming to, and their original scope of intent. Also, Digimon isn't really a rip-off of pokemon, having "cute" animal side kicks does not equal the same show, just an fyi.

If I had to list the worst show's I ever saw, then... (No order)

Chaos Head is the first thing to come to mind. It had a few nice opening episodes and some built up potential but it quickly turned into a train wreck. Had no direction, relied on common archetypes to grasp attention, long winded rants about really nothing at all and a lost of focus on the show.

Code Geass R2 Also comes to mind, which is a shame because I liked the first season quite a bit. Flashy, beam spamming mech's is probably my biggest personal problem with the show. However, the lazy writing, overuse of deus ex and terrible pacing also play a huge factor into it.

Tenjou Tenge is probably my least favorite of all time. Such a let down, terrible, overused fan-service, boring fights(Action series that uses nothing but still frames, fail) and really nonsensical story telling, did not work out at all.

I also hate the Zero no Tsukaima franchise as a whole. I am not into the whole abusive relationship, especially when it gets out of hand like it does. At least in other Tsundere focused anime, like shana, I can understand and sympathize with the main lead, not in this one. Abusive for the hell of it seems, and really no attempt at growth, and the creators play off what little growth there is in the series like it never happened, so it just comes to a complete halt and you get the same thing every episode. Terrible, just terrible show.

Good to see them get more anime available via streaming. Personally I am a little interested in Tokyo Majin, been awhile since I've seen an action series.

General Discussion » anime that i dislike and why

It always amazes me how many "people" hate Bobobo, when clearly the don't understand the purpose. It's not a parody, and if you haven't seen a lot of anime then a lot of it isn't going to make sense. That being said it's one of the worst parody series out in circulation right now, but it's not terrible.

I'd personally suggest Nana, it's not Shoujo, actually it's Josei, but it's brilliant. It's probably one of the better anime series that revolves around "love".

Just Manga » Nana Manga help

The manga series was suppose to finish a couple of months after the anime was suppose to end. So they were planning on a second season once the Manga finished, but due to the Author's sudden illness it's all been postponed. She has just gotten of the hospital not to long ago, still recovering though.

@Chengy:
Well the drama is definitely Melodramatic, it's not that bad or forced. Besides the point of all of Ai Yazawa's works are to be character driven and Nana definitely has some of the best characters in any romantic series out there. Making it by far one of the better Romantic series out.

I'll tell the world straight out,,I am a grade A homo bigot,if i had my way the gay fink would be wiped from the planet...no regrets and no apolagies..

I wont carry on anymore because i've already been banned 7 or 8 times from sites for having an honest opinion,, gay = poisen.

"
Well at least you are open about being a bigot...but that isn't a good thing. You would be willing to kill someone just based off their sexual orientation. To be honest I feel semi bad for you for being so ignorant and closed minded. Having an honest opinion is fine, being against gay marriage is fine. But your first sentence proves your hate and that you probably belong to some anti-homo KKK group, so no you don't have an honest opinion, just uneducated hate.

As for me, I am for gay marriage. While I am against the thought of homosexuality in general, I personally believe that there is a man and female for a reason. Not a religious reason, but just from a simple biological reason, and to me that is enough for me not to believe in homosexuality. However it is not my right, nor anyone's right to say whom one can marry. If the two people joining together love each other, the we should not have a say in what they do.

" @Leptok:  You know, I keep trying to come up with something "perfect" for you, and then I see a shiny object... and I get distracted. Now is really no different.

Like, you didn't dig geass, though I'll admit that the first episode (until the last 2 minutes) is all weird set up, since the character has a drastic, drastic shift of displayed behavior, and becomes a maniacal douche with zero concern for the feelings of others.

"
In his defense the entire Code Geass is pretty bad, not just the first episode.

There are still good anime out there, not only now but in the past so you can't be afraid to look. I'll second someone's mention of Eden of the East, probably the most original anime to come out in forever. Only downside is there really is no ending since they left that up for the movies.

But if you want something truly amazing then look at the past at Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It aired from 1988 to 1998 so don't let the animation put you off. This is truly the best anime in existence, and that is no joke. It's very deep in political warfare, got some of the best characters ever. Give it to episode 15 or so, as the intro is kind of a slow start but it picks up speed like crazy and by episode 30 blows any other anime out of the water.
