Bigheart711 (Level 21)

Did you know?: The site had a character mascot (An armed catgirl) until the middle of 2011 when it was ditched. The default avatar for new users also had the old mascot and was changed into a faceless guy with light blue hair.

Surprisingly, things were light this week after all the craziness (and all the Hentai anime I had to mention) that happened last week. It may have been a break for the both of us, so we savored it for a short while and constructed these tables for you guys. Enjoy!

Quick Rundown

Bigheart's Thoughts

I thought Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was the better one because of the story, but as it appeared, I don't seem to be in the minority of this matter as I originally thought between myself and the Campus Lounge regulars. I'm not very sure if I should check it out Girls' Bravo since I've heard mixed reviews about it and I have yet to check out the others even though I have a good feeling about Book of Bantorra. I hardly checked out any of the manga series mentioned either even though I've been willing to check out 20th Century Boys for quite sometime. Also, now I'm very interested in Sakuran because I hardly checked out anything Geisha-related in years.

Takashichea's Thoughts

I have not tried any of these books, and I have heard of Phoenix Wright due to a video game. Arisa looks like something I should have little sister try, and Sakuran looks interesting since I haven't read any manga about Geisha women. I love the Fullmetal Brotherhood series more than first one because it had a better ending and it showed more cool characters. I like the first FMA series because it had more action and drama with more characters dying, and I find how Homunculi were created was unique. Plus, my favorite character Scar is better in the first series. He is too soft in Brotherhood. I'm interested in Fractale since I enjoyed stories about a pefect utopia due to being a fan of Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451.

Sorry I'm late, but I wanted to test the ride a bit longer.
Sorry I'm late, but I wanted to test the ride a bit longer.

Three episodes in, and so far, Episode Three still pulls me into whatever the holy hell is going on back there. There was also a lot of views of its page on Screened (either that or you all visited me there. In that case, thank you. <3) Anyway, some spoilers for Episode Three are present here, so I suggest you get caught up from here on (or just read it if you are one of the people that just aren't interested in seeing the series. In that case, you're really missing out, especially since there's a interesting new character in the mix. :[ )

Synopsis (via Takashichea)

Y arrives to Camphorwood village to start on the Human Monument project, but she gets totally sidetracked and kick starts a manga movement starting with some Yaoi titles.

Good

  • Y driving the Mediator mad as balls makes up for some good humor.
  • I thought the Fujoshi (female yaoi manga fan) fiasco that had erupted in Camphorwood managed to make things even funnier.
  • The ending of this episode is the biggest surprise from the Fairies so far.

Bad

  • Some of the terms that are used might not be understandable for others that are new to anime.
  • Not much fairy appearances. (They always seem to cheer me up at some point).

Weird

  • The blank space scene in the beginning was puzzling, but not as much as the conclusion was.

Next week, things are only going to get weirder from here on. I solely blame Y on that one.

Highlights

She definitely won't un-see that image anytime soon (Neither will we) -_-;

Panty and Stocking are finally on DVD, but Kirino, Chibi-Moon, a Bunny Girl and a Cat-Girl (both from the one shocking series that NEVER got away) seem to have stowed away this week. Me and Takashichea talked about those releases and one of us are chronocling these and the other past anime and manga releases in two seperate lists. Now, let's get the [BLEEP] back to business.

Quick Rundown

Bigheart's Thoughts

I had fun watching the subbed version of panty and Stocking and while checking out the two episodes of the dubbed version, I was having a lot of fun with it once again. I intended to buy the set, but it looks like I'll have to save up. Speaking of which, I'm still finishing up Sailor V and Volume 6 of the Sailor Moon manga gets an North American Re-Release. I seriously need to catch up. T_T As for Cool Devices, I came across that hentai over a year ago, and I thought it wasn't as vile as some other H-Series. However, it was one of the most frightening due to a few torture scenes between episodes. It was claimed as the worst thing that was animated by many reviewers back then, so their end of that bargain must have been far worse than mine. I bet those poor reviewers still might not want to look back on it anytime soon since it's gotten another multiple volume re-release.

Takashichea's Thoughts

I haven't seen Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and I know for sure I don't want to try out Cool Devices. I'm more into smut not hardcore H stuff. For Sailor Moon, I'm more familiar with the anime, and I haven't read the manga. I definitely buy it or checked it out from the library. I'm not a strong fan like you BigHeart711, but I had some favorite characters, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Mars, and Tuxedo Mask. Fairy Tail Volume 20 is the end of the Nirvana arc, and I'm excited to read it.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has Declined)
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has Declined)

Just like Takashichea, I'll also be posting my thoughts on “Humanity has Declined”, but here, I'm reviewing both parts of “The Fairies' Secret Factory”. I heard about it on Giant Bomb's Anime Thread and thought it would be good, so I checked both episodes out.

WARNING: From this point on contains some spoilers from both episodes. Don't worry, I won't give anything major out.

Plot Synopsis of Ep. 1 (via myself (also as Bigheart711) from Screened)

After an attempted chicken slaughter gone wrong, the UN Mediator decides to help out her village by gathering more meat. However, she starts an investigation against FairyCo after she an a group witness a walking skinned chicken with the company's label on its body.

Good

  • The plot of both episodes surprised me when the Skinned Chickens show up during the hunt from the Mediator's group. From there on, things only get more interesting.
  • A lot of humorous moments, including the Talking Loaf (Part 1) and the Chicken Chase (Part 2)
  • Great ending to Episode 2.

Bad

  • Two scenes from Episode 1 was a bit slow to process.

Weird

  • The main character doesn't seem to have a name, unfortunately, but (along with myself) the others just call her by “Mediator”. I doubt that she will be given a name from here on, though.
  • There's some connection between a group of fairies (They really look like little elves) and the Mediator and her grandpa and it's a bit strange to witness at first.

I'll be continuing this until the series finishes, so count on me to release one for next time. <3 The series is also legally available to view on Crunchyroll.

This is more of a reason to be in shock and awe, but it's definitely not a bad thing, Rei.
This is more of a reason to be in shock and awe, but it's definitely not a bad thing, Rei.

Apparently, there was an announcement from the manga version's author Naoko Takeuchi, Kodansha Japan and an idol band named Momoiro Clover Z, during a live concert performance that was also the celebration of the franchise's 20th Anniversary during an anime convention in France. A new anime adaptation (a TV Series reboot) of the Sailor Moon manga is in the works and is planned for a Summer 2013 release. Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi/Serena's JPN Voice Actor) and Tohru Furuya (Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask's JPN Voice Actor) were present in the convention event, but didn't confirm if they were going to reprise their roles for the reboot yet, but the creators and staff intend to release the series worldwide like they did with the manga re-releases. Either way, this is a good enough reason for fans of the franchise to be excited. (...or are you? I hope so! <3)
