Is making a Death Note reference, I think.

Just Anime » Question About How Anime Show Direction Works

@sickVisionz: screened covers both movies and tv shows, so I'm adding p4 to help create a more complete database.

Just Anime » Question About How Anime Show Direction Works

@Superevil225: Right, I know that shows have their main creators, just wasn't sure how direction worked. Because in say something like LOST, I know that JJ Abrams was touted prominently as a creator, but by the end of the series run he basically had no involvement in the show whatsoever. I'll go ahead and credit both Kishi and the individual episode directors, then.

Just Anime » Question About How Anime Show Direction Works

I'm trying to fill in a wiki entry over on Screened about the Persona 4 anime, but I'm getting a bit confused about how to credit directors. I'd heard that Seiji Kishi was directing the series and so added him to every episode, but then when I looked at this ANN page for the show I saw that each episode was directed by someone else. So is Kishi basically just overseeing the series as a whole, with various directors focusing more specifically on individual episodes? That's what it seems like, just want to make sure.

This is different from American shows as far as I can tell, which has no "overall" director, just individual directors for each episode.

Off-Topic » Hi Im new and goodbye thread

Hello, I've been on Screened and Giantbomb for a while; this is my first time exploring AV. I mainly joined because I started getting into the Persona 4 Animation and wanted to find a good place to read up other people's thoughts on it--but who knows, this site may start getting me back into anime in general. I used to watch much more of it, but haven't really touched anything new in years.

Just some general thoughts: anime is definitely stigmatized in the west to some extent, and there are certain elements of truth I find in those stigmatized views, but those who write off all anime because of that are obviously not seeing the whole picture. There are certain anime tropes that do annoy me for sure, and japanese humor can sometimes be hit and miss with me, but when done right anime can be absolutely spellbinding.
