Neon Genesis Evangelion » 2.22

I cannot seem to find out when the North American bluray release of Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.22 comes out.  Anyone know?  Maybe they just haven't announced the release date yet.

Final Fantasy » NEWS: Lame douche-bag seeks attention on animevice forum

@gia: Yeah, it's an electric piano.  An early model of the Yamaha Clavinova CLP series(I use a much earlier model than the one in the link).  Yamaha makes the best electric pianos.

The sound of my piano itself aside, the sound quality in my videos is pretty bad, what with all the ambient sound.  I'm such a goof...  I'm surrounded by all this recording equipment and software, but can't seem to wrap my head around the technological know-how to get it to work, hehehe...  I really only know music in terms of theory...  I don't know much about the tech and the software...  I play in a cover-band, and my bassist takes care of all the tech and gear...

Now take Jeff's band, Midnight Brown!  Do you guys listen to his stuff?!  It's great fun!  I forget how I stumbled across his music.  I think I must've heard about it in the forums somewhere.  I only found out he makes music, like, a few weeks ago. I downloaded all of their albums and have been listening to them the past coupla weeks...  Jeff obviously knows what's goin' on in terms of production...  That's where I wanna be...  Alas...

I was gonna try my hand at another Final Fantasy song or two, before XIII comes out.  I'll post 'em in the forums.  I used to play a song from Naruto too, maybe I'll pull out the sheet for that again.

General Discussion » Vice Survey: Reviews!

1)  Videos reviews, although I understand there is a lot more technical work added on top of the writing when you do this.  A focus on more popular things, and things that you personally want to get the word out for.

2)  Pretty even, but since manga involves static imagery I think your purpose could be served just as well with a written review and some embedded images in the review.

3)  More general review without spoilers.  Like a film review; giving only the premise that the anime starts off with.  Think Roger Ebert.  I imagine the problem with reviewing something you really like is you want to gush about it, revealing the awesome twist...  but I think these 'spoilers' can just as easily be alluded to without necessarily explaining what they are.

LOL!  I made the same mistake once too...  Does Sonata still have that girl for a profile pic?  That's what throws everyone off.

I read the title of this thread and though, "I'm totally gonna post some smart-alec remark about wanting to do the voice for porn"...  Only to realize that that's exactly what this thread is about, hehehe.

Battle Angel Alita » More with Cameron and Alita.

@MoonStorm: Do you know why it says that you are the top editor for some of the Alita mangas?  i can't see what it is you added.  I wrote the article and I submitted those images.  Why is it you did that made you the top editor?

Off-Topic » were/why did you make your username that name?

I am not religious or spiritual, but I've always enjoyed the storytelling of ancient religions.  Arjuna is a character from Hindu mythology.  Not to be confused with an anime character of the same name.

His greatest and most famous moment is when Vishnu, speaking in the avatar of Krishna, reveals his true form.  Arjuna hesitates in the middle of a great battle, seeing his brothers across the battlefield.  Krishna explains to him that he must preform his duty as a warrior and reveals to him Truth.

Here is a video from the play, Mahabharata:

Oppenheimer, father of the atom bomb, famously quoted the Baghavad-Gita.  He reflects on his reaction upon seeing the first successful test-explosion of the atom bomb.  "Now I am become Death":

Off-Topic » Help me Animevice your my only hope!

You mentioned Paranoia Agent and Death Note, two of my personal favourite series.

I try not to mention it too much, since it is a series that's definitely not for 'everyone', but "Texhnolyze".

Maybe my all time favourite anime might be Texhnolyze.  It's definitely up there.  I recently wrote a review for it, so feel free to read it.

I don't think you mentioned Gurren Lagann; that's very popular.  I could think of more, but I'll just put my vote on one anime:  Texhnolyze.

Just Anime » Dubs or Subs?

The rhythms, intonations, stresses, etc. are so foreign to me that I prefer English dubs.

I think it depends on the dub.  If the dub is done well, dubb; if not, sub.

Copy/paste from wikipedia:  "...The classic example of intonation is the question-statement distinction. For example, northeastern American English...  has a rising intonation for echo or declarative questions (He found it on the street?), and a falling intonation for wh-questions (Where did he find it?) and statements (He found it on the street.). Yes or no questions (Did he find it on the street?) often have a rising end, but not always..."

I heard that most Japanese questions have a rising intonation.  My point is, there are differences between English and Japanese where sub-titles aren't enough to fully translate the meaning.  If it isn't verbally translated, you can misunderstand something.
