Hailing from the Kamishibai paper theatre medium, The Prince of Gamma is one of Japan's first superheroes, popular in the 1930's, and in some ways a precursor to Superman.
He was Japan's second major superhero, after Golden Bat. In many ways, he is a precursor to Superman and other later superheroes. His origin story also resembles the origin stories of later superheroes like Superman and Goku.
Prince of Gamma is an interstellar alien prince orphaned on Earth, living in Tokyo. He has an alter-ego, in the guise of a poor street urchin wandering the streets of Tokyo. But when danger called, he would transform, appearing in a blue suit with yellow insignia, flowing yellow cape and headdress.
The Prince of Gamma is super-strong, invulnerable and has the power of flight. He uses his superhuman powers to fight threats to Tokyo and Japan, including a bald-headed scientist, White Perils who use Nautilus-inspired crab-shaped submarines to sink Japanese shipping, and a laser-eyed alien from outer space with a visible brain.
