Gray and Ultear continue their battle, and Ultear's origin story is revealed. After Ultear learns the truth, Fairy Tail guild members devise a plan to split up into two teams, an attack team to take down the enemy while a defending team to protect the injured.

Plot Summary

Opening Theme

"I Wish" by Milky Bunny

The episode starts with Ultear remembering her painful past and not forgiving her mother. Gray lands the first blow. As Ultear orders Meldy to get Zeref to the ship, Gray calls Juvia to chase them down. Immediately, Ultear attacks Gray; on the rebound, Gray attempts to attack Ultear only to have his attack nullify by Ultear. At the camp, Natsu, Happy, and Lucy the others talk about Ultear's powers and how Gray is a bad match up for her. Also, Virgo is digging pitfalls in her swimsuit. Meanwhile, Gray tries to attack Ultear with Ice Make Hammer but fails. Ultear explains that she learn Lost Ark magic to kill her mother and other creation mages. Gray remembers Ur crying over Ultear's baby clothes, yet he finds himself bombarded by Ultear's Fast Forward attack.

As Gray tries to get through Ultear's thick skull and show that Ur care for her, Gray tells Ultear that he believe in Ur's magic and that it will beat Ultear. Suddenly, Gray cuts himself and freezes his blood much to Ultear's surprise. Ultear finds out that she cannot freeze Gray in his tracks. Gray sends Ultear flying with his Ice Blade: Seven Strike Dance. Ultear gets up and uses an Ice Make Magic: Rosen Krone. Ur's words about creation magic echoes. Gray comments that the same blood runs in both mother and daughter. In the struggle, Gray tackles Ultear, and both of them fall off the cliff into the ocean.

Ultear's Flashback

In the ocean, Ultear's flashback begins. She narrates that she has been abandoned by her mother as she finds herself in the desert. The strange men and women (Bureau of Magic Development) explain to Ultear that they are here to improve her magical ability. However, Ultear finds herself subjected to torture such as electrocution as they amplify her powers. Brain appears and tells the men to raise the level higher. Later that night, Ultear cries in bed, and when she loses control, she blasts the roof. Taking the opportunity, she escapes to find her mother. However, she finds Ur looking happy with two children. Ultear realizes she has been abandoned and replaced. Later, she returns to the Bureau in order to boost her magic, so she can take revenge on her mother. When the mages fear that Ultear's power would cause a destruction, Brain leaves them after obtaining the magic he needs. Later on, Ultear researches in a library about the existence of Zeref. In a hologram, Hades explains that the Time Ark magic can bring back lost happiness, and it will be complete if Zeref is resurrected.

Back to the present, Ultear and Gray continue their battle in the ocean. After the two blast each other with ice, Ultear suddenly hears Ur's voice and sees the memories. In a flashback, Ur begs the doctors to cure her child. Afterwards, Brain and the men lied to Ur that her child has died. Ur cries and begs them to give back her daughter, but Brain refuses to show her the body. As the flashback ends, Gray freezes Ur in a spear that rises above the sea. He tells Ultear that Ur loved her. The ice shatters, and Ur wants to see her mother again as she falls back to the sea. Gray continues to move forward and tells Ultear that he's not doing this alone.
