The main protagonist of the Pokémon Anime. Ash has a dream of becoming the greatest Pokémon Master ever. To accomplish this he has set out on a journey throughout most of the regions known in the series to challenge the Gym Leaders and enter the region tournaments.

The second Pokemon Ash captured while in the Johto region originally as a Chikorita. Bayleef has a crush on Ash and is constantly fighting for his attention and approval.

The first of the original three starter Pokémon caught by Ash. It refuses to evolve.

The seventh Pokemon caught by Ash Ketchum (sixth if you don't count Pikachu) Caught as a Krabby but evolved during the first round of the Pokemon League tournament where it went undefeated single handedly defeating all three of Ash's opponent's Pokemon.

The Lapras trained by Ash Ketchum caught on the Orange Islands, Lapras was Ash and companies primary mode of transportation while travelling the Orange Islands and one of the six Pokemon he used when he won the Orange League tournament's championship.

The Muk caught and trained by Ash Ketchum. It smells horrible, so much so that the smell seeps out of the poke ball when Muk is inside, for this reason alone, Ash usually does not keep Muk with him and only uses it in tournaments and gym battles.

A Shiny Noctowl Ash captured and trained while in the Johto Region.

Pidgeot was Ash's third Pokémon, he caught it in Viridian Forest as a Pidgeotto.

Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu is always with Ash on his adventures.

The Primeape caught by Ash Ketchum, he only had this Pokemon briefly before giving it to another trainer he thought would be better suited to train it. It liked to steal Ash's hat. First seen as a Mankey. It was his 9th Pokemon.

The Snorlax Ash Ketchum caught on the Orange Islands. It has proved to be one of his strongest Pokémon... When it is awake, that is.

The leader of the "Squirtle Squad" and one of Ash's first Pokémon. Squirtle had many adventures with Ash and friends before rejoining the squad later in the series.

Blaine is the Leader Of Cinnabar Island Pokemon gym.

Former leader of the Pewter City Gym, Brock travels with Ash Ketchum, hitting on every attractive woman he meets.

Zubat is Brock's third Pokémon, which later evolves into a Crobat.

A young Pokemon trainer Ash encountered when he started his journey in Johto. Casey is a fan of baseball and her favorite team is the Electabuzz which is also her favorite Pokemon.

Meganium is Casey's first pokemon. She received it from Professor Elm as Chikorita.

Cassidy is a member of Team Rocket, she has a rivalry with Jessie that goes back to their first day on Team Rocket.

The Gym Leader of the Mikan Island.

She is the Leader of the Blackthrone city Gym and uses Dragon Pokémon. She is related to Elite Four member Lance somehow.

She is one of Misty's Older sisters who along with her other two sisters were the Gym Leaders of Cerulean City.

Ash Ketchum's Mother and a former student of Professor Oak.

A young girl Ash and his friends met on their travels who likes to cosplay. She has a Ditto which she uses for her shows.

Erika is the leader of the Celadon City Pokemon Gym, and specializes in Grass Type Pokemon. She hands out the Rainbow Badge to those who challenge and defeat her in battle.

He is The Leader of the Violet City Gym. He inherited his gym from his father, he currently uses Bird Pokemon.

Brock's dad who took over as Gym Leader for him while he was on his journey with Ash.

Brock's younger brother who is the current Gym Leader of Pewter Gym.

The grandson of Professor Oak and once Ash Ketchum's rival.

He is the leader of Virdian City Pokemon gym and he uses ground Type Pokemon. He is also the leader of Team Rocket.

Always at Giovanni's side, Persian's fighting ability and attacks are unknown as it's never been seen in battle.

Member of Team Rocket who is partnered with Jessie, whose determined to steal Ash's Pokemon.

A Poison type Pokémon owned by James.

She is the Gym Leader of the Olivine City. She specializes in using Steel type Pokémon.

Member of Team Rocket, Jessie is always after Ash and his friends' Pokemon. With her comrades Meowth and James, she uses her Pokemon for bad intentions, and is always making clumsy mistakes to make her lose her goal or intention.

A wealthy woman and James future fiancée. He is afraid of her and is the reason why he ran away from home and joined Team Rocket.

A Poison type Pokemon that is owned by Jessie.

Wobbuffet is a blue-colored stiff Pokemon. A Psychic type Pokemon who doesn't attack directly. He does absorb attacks directed at him and counters.

Jigglypuff is a recurring wild Pokémon character in the anime, carrying a marker pen it sings into like a microphone.

Koga is the Leader of the Fushia City gym he uses poison Pokemon and he practices Ninjutsu. He eventually became a member of the Elite Four later on in the series.

A member of the Kanto elite four who uses Dragon type Pokémon who later becomes a Pokémon League Champion.
